From Billboard:
Barbra Streisand Duets With Jimmy Fallon For First Talk Show Appearance in 50 Years
It’s not often that an entire episode of The Tonight Show is dedicated to one guest. But for a legend like Barbra Streisand, Jimmy Fallon can certainly make an exception. Streisand carried the Sept. 15 episode by herself, as she hyped her upcoming duets album Partners, out Sept. 16 via Sony.
Fallon first teamed with Streisand for an opening routine in which he shuffled through a series of show business standards -- an Elvis-style wig, a cowboy hat, a classic tux -- and tried his best to keep up with her classy charm. Then he introduced Streisand “one of the biggest stars in the history of show business” and insisted she sit in his desk for the interview session. Streisand, making her first non-cameo American talk show appearance in over 50 years, obliged, surmising out loud that she probably wouldn’t be able to pull off another five decade-wait.
Streisand chatted about reinterpreting standards on her new album with distinguished guests such as Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, and -- thanks to some studio magic -- Elvis Presley. She also touched on guesting on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and how stage fright kept her from performing music for 27 years.
Finally, Streisand one-upped her interview session and wrapped the night as the show’s musical guest. She jazzed her way through a stylish solo performance of “Come Rain or Come Shine" and though John Mayer accompanies her on the Partners version, she did just fine on her own.
Streisand will also appear on ABC's GMA with Robin Roberts on Sept. 16 and The View on Sept. 17.

I just bought Just for the Record a few days ago; waiting for it to come in the mail now. :) I really hope she gets the number 1 for the six-decade record.

Love Is the Answer debuted at #4 with 68k (219k to date). I think "Love Is The Answer" debuted at #1… did you mean "What Matters Most"?

From Billboard.com
Barbra Streisand Set for Historic No. 1 Album
Barbra Streisand may collect her 10th No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart next week with the arrival of her new all-star duets album, Partners.
The Columbia Records set, which was released on Sept. 16, may sell over 150,000 copies in the week ending Sept. 21, according to industry forecasters. That starting sum should be enough to fend off all other titles on next week's chart -- the top 10 of which will be revealed on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
Partners features Streisand duetting with an all-male hit parade of singers, including Stevie Wonder, Michael Buble, Blake Shelton, Billy Joel and Lionel Richie.
If Partners hits No. 1, it will make Streisand the first artist with No. 1s in each of the past six decades ('60s through '10s), and it would extend her lead as the female artist with the most No. 1 albums.
To promote the new album, Streisand made a well-publicized visit to NBC's The Tonight Show on Monday, where she was the only guest for the evening. She performed a medley of songs with host Jimmy Fallon, chatted and then sang a solo number at the end of the show. It was her first proper appearance on a late-night talk show since 1963, when she was last on The Tonight Show.
On Tuesday, she performed on ABC's Good Morning America and is scheduled to appear on ABC's The View on Thursday.

Barbra was my favorite female entertainer for years and years but her work beginning with the movie album and thereafter I felt was lack luster. This new album has got me excited though and I'm looking forward to purchasing it and listening to it. That said, I loved her movie with Seth The Guilt Trip. It's a shame it didn't do better because I felt it was her best work in a film in a long time.

I just recently watched it again on streaming. She's too funny.

I didn't love the movie, but I thought she played her role well.
I thought her interview with Rosie O'Donnell this morning (and the little making of snippet) was very nice.

Am I too mean for laughing at the title chosen for Andrea Bocelli? Ecstatic at the news of her #1!!! When was her last visit to the AC charts? I wonder if she can have a song from Partners charting over there -or anywhere else! If there's a dance remix maybe she can crown the dance club charts? Lol But really I still hope she can have another hot 100 charting single. She did a great job with I finally found someone reaching top 10 in the 90s (is the version included in the deluxe edition the original one?) Now, does anyone know what happened with the rumored collaborations with Beyonce and Gaga?? Those could be fun!! I'd love another uptempo ala Main Event or No more tears!

I wonder why she didn't duet with any female singers on this project. I would love for her to work with Kelly Clarkson.

#1 with 196k per HITS; could be 200k in the end. Easily her second best debut post-SoundScan.

From Billboard.com:
Barbra Streisand Makes History at No. 1 on Billboard 200 Chart
Streisand is the only act with No. 1 albums in each of the last six decades.
It's official: Barbra Streisand's Partners album debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, making the icon the first act to achieve No. 1 albums in each of the last six decades.
The Columbia Records effort sold 196,000 copies in the week ending Sept. 21 according to Nielsen SoundScan, and also marks Streisand's 10th No. 1 album.
The rest of the new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed Wednesday, Sept. 24.
Partners' opening sum is the largest sales week for a female artist in 2014, and Streisand's biggest sales frame since Christmas week of 1997. Her last album to sell more in a week was Higher Ground, which shifted 402,000 in the frame ending Dec. 28, 1997.
With a 10th No. 1, she ties for the third-most No. 1s in history with Elvis Presley (who is featured on Partners) and Bruce Springsteen. Ahead of them are the Beatles, with 19, and Jay Z, with 13. (Streisand continues to have the most No. 1 albums among women.)
Streisand's first No. 1 album came almost exactly 50 years ago: People hit No. 1 on the chart dated Oct. 31, 1964.
During the new album's release week, Streisand visited NBC's The Tonight Show on Monday, Sept. 15, where she was the only guest for the evening. She performed a medley of songs from the album with host Jimmy Fallon, chatted and then sang a solo number at the end of the show. It was her first proper appearance on a late-night talk show since 1963, when she was last on The Tonight Show.
She also was interviewed on ABC's Good Morning America (Sept. 16) and ABC's The View (Sept. 18).

What Matters Most debuted at #4 with 68k (219k to date) Any reason for this one performing so much lower than the others?

What Matters Most debuted at #4 with 68k (219k to date) Any reason for this one performing so much lower than the others? It's a niche album of Alan and Marilyn Bergman songs and I don't think Babs did much in terms of promotion.

"Partners" is, according to Billboard, still on the run to top next week's chart, as the gaps between this one, Kenny Chesney's latest, and the Bennett/Gaga album have narrowed down.

I love when she performed "The Main Event" at one of her concerts, and she looks at the audience and goes, "It's a rock concert!" or something to that effect. It added a nice energy to her mellow-paced show. In recent years, she's performed some of the hits she hasn't in some time (like "Woman in Love").
