Here I am criticizing the Mainstream Rock chart, and a new single from Live charts there.
What do you think?

Way to rip off Bush's title. It came out 1 day after Bush's single. So what you're saying is, they never had a title for it the day before Bush released "The Only Way Out", so they copied that for its next day release?

Isn't Ed Kowalczyk off on his own solo career? I can't say I'm thrilled about this, seeing as Live is way past their prime and when bands change lead singers after years and years of the same setup it's really hard for me to view the material as comparable.
I'll probably give the album a listen though, since I'm a huge fan of older, #1 Alternative Live tracks. Even "Mental Jewlery" is pretty solid imo.

Honestly, this sounds more like U2 to me than Live. Definitely not a bad song though and I do like this new vocalist. He's just not that similar to Ed in my opinion.

Switching lead singers hardly works unless the band is really stable.. Van Hagar was a dud. STP with Chester Bennington is a winner. KISS, Def Leppard, Aerosmith, Nickelback are really stable bands, but it would never work to switch their lead singers. I don't think Chris is as good as Ed was and the band hasn't relased anything since mid 2005-2006?.

the band hasn't relased anything since mid 2005-2006?. Correct. Their last album was from 2006 which was "Songs from Black Mountain." I vaguely remember "The River" from that getting some airplay.

This is a U2 song. Bring back Ed Kameldyck or whatever his name is.

Top 50 on Active: 111 45 LIVE Way Around Is Through 176 14 162 0.612 What the hell... Live's new singer Chris Shinn is the son of a former NBA Basketball owner, who is extremely wealthy. I am sure the remaining members are using the excess money to garner airplay. The song itself is nothing like Live and mediocre at best. Live isn't Live without Ed Kowalczyk.

I just heard this for the first time, and it was equal to my expectations. Without Ed Live lacks energy, and the song is kind of generic and forgettable.

There's no way someone in their right mind would ever think song like this was going to hit alternative before it hit active in this current climate. Live hasn't charted on alternative since 2003, and with this new lead singer they're a run of the mill mainstream rock n roll band. The only reason to say what you did would be to fish for another "why is all of the indie on alternative blocking active rock songs" fight.

Lightning Crashes, Selling the Drama and I Alone were HUGE Alt hits. There's no reason to think that Active would just take them like that. Granted, I haven't heard the song yet, but this has nothing to do with "indie cock blocking Alt" this has everything to do with unexpectedness maybe it'll pull a Bush

yes, but not even top 50 alt yet? how long did it take Bush to do that? Because their last album was purely Hot AC and they never charted on either alt or active with it at all. They have a new lead singer and this is a run of the mill rock song. You said you haven't listened to it yet? Well, then listen to it and see for yourself.

Poor Ed. His name is Ed Kowalczyk. the band; Live, was a big staple on Alternative Rock charts throughout the 90s. I'm pretty sure it will peak at least in the bottom half of the Alt Rock charts. Like I said; I believe they have been away too long to regain the much needed popularity on Alternative Rock fans, but we'll always have the first classic album.

True, but a certain other 90s alt rock band had "been away too long" and they still managed to score in the Top 20.

i've always wondered, how the band Live is pronounced. Do they mean Live as in a live concert or Live as in live long.

As much as I was bummed about Live and Ed splitting (especially the douchey way that it happened), both parties have gone on to make way better music since then. This isn't is good as Live in their prime (nor is Ed's solo music), but this crushes pretty much everything on the last few Live albums with Ed. They haven't had an awesome album since The Distance To Here and this is every bit as good as the singles off the next two records and blows the more recent ones away. I'm happy to hear one of the pillars of my childhood write a song that's consistent with their essence.

For statistical and historical reasons, this MUST go to #1 on alt, even if it has an audience rating of 0.
