Oh good, you're familiar with some originals. What makes that post even more frustrating is I remember when Johnny Cash's version came out. Yeah but it would make more sense though since Cash is old and Trent is also old but less old

I remember HATING Johnny Cash's version when I first heard it like four-five years ago. Mainly because it wasn't angsty enough.

BTW, Sixx A.M. - Drive(Cars cover) debuts on mainstream Rock at #48 as does "Stars" at #43. Seems they released both singles simultaneously. "Drive" is growing on me just for the sheer fact that it's such a classic.

"Drive" is growing on me just for the sheer fact that it's such a classic. Knowing your love for the Cars...I'm surprised you like this. I thought it was pretty lifeless. I prefer the Deftones take by a mile. But neither hold a candle to the original (of course). Maybe this one will grow on me. The Sixx:A.M. cd isn't knocking me out at this point...but "Stars" continues to improve with each listen.

"Drive" is growing on me just for the sheer fact that it's such a classic. This happens all the time on Mainstream Rock. You'll see "High On The Music" and "Give Me a Love" are on there too with 8 spins each. So obviously a few stations were promoting the album by playing non-singles.

I keep forgetting to listen to this for the last week and I plan on listening to the new album later today (New Found Glory, Weezer, and Yellowcard are light years ahead of Sixx A.M. in importance for me :) ), but this is more of what I expected rather than "Gotta Get It Right." It's along the lines of "Lies of the Beautiful People" and "Life is Beautiful" with more of a rock edge. Nice guitar solo in the song as well.

They need to kinda just hide the "Drive" cover away somewhere. And lock it. I really hate it.

Mandrakegray. The familiarity of Sixx A.M. - Drive(cover) makes it an easy listen on the ears, but it in no way does the original justice. BTW, I can't see Ocasek giving Sixx A.M. the ok to cover his song. Much less being too happy with the final product.

This was one of the new albums I checked out yesterday. To my surprise, I thought it was very good with a great variety of sound from harder rock, ballads, and even an oldie show tune kind of vibe in the last song.

As for more songs I did not know were covers... Far's "Pony" was apparently originally done by Ginuwine. Zeebz and Devil Marlena Nylund will enjoy reading the first page of this thread.

Ooh that's a good cover. I don't think I realized it was a cover until I heard the original in a WatchMojo video. (That same video, I learned that "No Ordinary Love" wasn't originally by Deftones)

Well, it looks like the payola is kicking in on active. After weeks and weeks of 14-18 limbo, this all of a sudden has a shady bullet.

Not surprised. Eleven Seven did the same to Hellyeah's Moth. Mr. MTV in the Top 10 right now could also be a product of it as well. Papa Roach taking so long to reach Top 5 must be a result of the label spending money on all the younger acts.
