For the first weekend of October, it's all about Meghan Trainor scoring her very first #1. Congrats! :)

- Well, "All Of Me" hangs on for one more week and it's now the oldest song in the countdown. "Latch" and "Ain't It Fun" will most likely assume seniority status next week.

Poor "Classic". It takes over 20 weeks to peak in the top 10, and doesn't get even one week as the countdown's oldest song. Well, at least MKTO immediately replace themselves.
Didn't expect Nicki Minaj to get the Two For One as one of two featured artists on "Bang Bang", though Nicki's own hit is far short of the top 10 and she does have a lot of songs, as lead and featured artist, to choose from. They did make a interesting choice in the non-overplayed "Moment For Life". Meanwhile, Nick Jonas becomes the first Jonas Brother to chart solo; ironically, three years ago Joe Jonas guest hosted AT40 when he had a solo single, "Say No More"; that was played twice as an extra/Breakout, but never actually made the top 40.

noooo Classic is gone :( . But at least American Dream charted too.
"Trumpets" and "Fireball" no big rises for these two I'm surprised.
all about that bass will probably be #1 for the next 4 weeks.

So Nicki Minaj has the 2 For 1 with "Moment 4 Life", which is not a bad choice. But in the first hour, they play another old random extra in Sean Paul's "Temperature", which could've been a good choice for 2 For 1 since Sean Paul is in the Top 10 on Enrique's "Bailando". Besides, it's been like four years since he last charted.

Out of curiosity, does the iHeart channel still play the U.S. version of AT40 for the new week first or does it just play the international version?
Just asking

Just asking Up until the 9/20 show, I believe they were still doing the U.S. version in the mornings and the international version in the afternoon/evenings (which has a shorter run time). Beginning with last week's (9/27) show, it looks like they've switched back to only the U.S. version around the clock.

I might need some help with that (more details when I post next weekend's show in the next couple of days).

This morning, when I listened to AT-40 on 102.1 fm, in Philadelphia, the Ryan Seacrest introduction, that always comes before song #40, was missing. They went right into playing #40. So I didn't hear him recap the top 3 from last week. Was it that way for you too?

I'm surprised at the short run of Delirious. If you remove the correct letters from Temperature you get Trumpet. We got 3 new songs again, but all in the first hour. They could have had the Buzz Song later in the show. Only 4-5 spots of upward movement the last couple of weeks. Bend Ova is my new least favorite song.
"Poor "Classic". It takes over 20 weeks to peak in the top 10, and doesn't get even one week as the countdown's oldest song." I think it was last week's oldest song at 31 weeks.

Your ears weren't deceiving you. It was, definitely, a new intro, this week (same deal on the iHeart station). It was a cold open jumping right into #40. Then Ryan's intro was between #40 and #39. No recap of the previous week's top 3. He just mentioned last week's #1 without playing a clip. I like the other way, better.

I just heard this new intro, and if that's what it is, it stinks, to put it bluntly. The intro itself changed, with no more "upload AT40" but instead a new, unidentified (to my knowledge) male voice starts with a "This is the biggest countdown in the world" lead in, and then there was an anonymous announcer saying "Number 40" without mentioning the title or artist; only after that song does Ryan come in with introductory material, mentioning last week's #1 (but not the full top 3) and this week's guests. AT40 has always had the host, be it Casey, Shadoe, Ryan, or a guest, say something and identify themselves before playing #40 (or recapping some of last week's hits.) Not doing so just feels too "cold" and abrupt, and introducing the week's content after playing the first chart song sounds misplaced, especially on weeks when #40 is new (at least this time it was a familiar former #1 that's been on for months).

And one more thing: there's now a #TaylorOnAT40 hashtag up for people to tweet questions to Taylor Swift to answer. Another guest hosting appearance coming soon?

She is not a bad guest host, but like I will always mention, I would rather have Ellen K. guest host just even if she could do it for one week.

Apologies for bumping this back up but it's been more than a year since AT40 began the unorthodox practice of going straight to #40 and as of right now, this has to be the longest such current streak for this (I might have to pull out all my recordings just to see how often this has happened within the past year). It's one thing to go straight to #40 if it's an old song in that position but even when #40 is a debut, they still do it. I hate to think the days of the Top 3 recap have died with Casey. Hard to imagine.
