Reminds me of something I read on a shampoo bottle.
Anyway, four verbs are in the title. Reminds me of Drink, Swear, Steal, And Lie.

Love the title. Rodney is interesting for me because I thought Going Through Hell was one of the best country songs when it came out, and I like These Are My People too. But some of his other songs have been just down right awful IMO. I couldn't stand Farmer's Daughter, and Take A Back Road was pretty bad too. I will have to wait and see with this one.

I have always been a huge Rodney fan and I'm hoping this one fares better than his last single, which didn't even crack the top 50. I think we'll be seeing a new album soon too.
If it's the song that I think it is (and I remember correctly), this one is a slow one. He's never had a successful ballad but there's a first for everything. I can't remember if this is the song I'm thinking of.

That title is a mouthful.

Horrendous title. Interesting that it's only 2:30 in length, too (according to the Play MPE link). I've never been a Rodney Atkins fan (he usually comes to mind first for me as one of the weakest vocalists in the genre, honestly), but I have liked a handful of his singles over the years. I'm thinking based on how his career has played out over the past few years that he's about done having radio success though, and being on Curb certainly won't help his chances.

Interesting title. Hope this does well at radio. I don't want Rodney to be done at radio just because Curb can't properly handle a non-Lee Brice artist to save their lives.
Still think "Doin' it Right" would have been a hit on ANY other label.

Still think "Doin' it Right" would have been a hit on ANY other label. Doin' it Right was top 20 worth at the very least. Can Curb even handle Lee? Drinking Class is wandering around down by #30, seeing measly daily gains and has meanwhile plowed it's way into the top 10 on iTunes. Lee is pushing big-star status and the radio promotion just isn't there. I really like Rodney and his genuineness. He is actually one of my all-time favorites.

Drinking Class is wandering around down by #30, seeing measly daily gains and has meanwhile plowed it's way into the top 10 on iTunes. Lee is pushing big-star status and the radio promotion just isn't there. "Drinking Class" is doing great at radio, so I'm not quite sure where the whole "Lee isn't doing very well at radio" thing is coming from. It's true that the song isn't flying up the chart at a Chesney-ish or Luke Bryan pace, but it's one of the youngest songs in the top 30. The only reason it spent a couple of weeks stuck at #31 is because of artists like Chesney, Underwood, etc. that moved up so fast, and also because not enough songs were going recurrent. Lee is at #29 on Billboard right now after just 8 weeks, but he has a high enough audience that normally he'd be around #25. "Drinking Class" is definitely a big hit on iTunes (as expected) but his album sales don't suggest he's one of the top stars yet. So an 8-week run to #29 is pretty darn good. To put it in context--a song like Jake Owen's "Beachin'" was #30 on Billboard after its 8th chart week, and Lee's own "I Don't Dance"--a big Platinum #1 hit--was at #34 in its 8th chart week. "I Don't Dance" had less than 4 million in audience after its 8th week, whereas "Drinking Class" is already over 10 million. So "Drinking Class" has moved up more than twice as fast as "I Don't Dance" did through its first 8 chart weeks. Anyway, so I'm not completely off-topic here, I'm with .indulgecountry on the title of Rodney's new single. If they stuck a few commas in there (ie, "Eat, Sleep, Love You, Repeat") then it would be 100x better...although even with commas it would still be corny and not nearly as clever as Michael Peterson's "Drink, Swear, Steal, and Lie". But as it now, it is simply horrendous. Maybe when it goes on iTunes or it will have commas in the title, but Play MPE left them out, so I have my doubts. I don't like predicting how a song will do if I haven't heard said song, but in this case I can't see Rodney doing much with anything. He needs an incredible song and I doubt this is it, just going off the title.

^ I really thought about adding in the commas myself anyway, even though Play MPE left them out as well as Music Row. That's how much it bothered me also.

The lack of commas is driving me nuts, too. I had to stop myself from putting them in in the upcoming singles thread.

^ I really thought about adding in the commas myself anyway, even though Play MPE left hem out as well as Music Row. That's how much it bothered me also. It drives me nuts that it's "Ready Set Roll" as well instead of "Ready, Set, Roll". Obviously I don't like the song anyway, but I just hate that they can't put commas into it. And it should probably be "Ready, Set, Let's Roll" anyway (since that's the lyric of the song), but I get that they were playing off the "ready, set, go" and "stop, drop, and roll" sayings (thus the omission of "let's").

Is it me, or does Rodney always look just extremely awkward in his single/album covers?

I've always liked Rodney and I'm hoping this is really an undeniable hit so he can actually make it higher up the chart again but I'm not holding my breath. I'm iffy on the title. I'll like it much better if it's a clever hook, but as of right now I think it sounds akward.

He's never had a successful ballad but there's a first for everything. I can't remember if this is the song I'm thinking of. I would say "what about Honesty?", but then I remember that he's disowned that one since it was just a fluke. Title sounds awkward yes, but I thought "If You're Going Through Hell (Before the Devil Even Knows)" was a clunky title, and it turned out to be a great song and a huge hit. How many song titles DO have commas anyway? Other than Drink Swear etc, the only one I can think of offhand is "Awful, Beautiful Life".

Generally most song titles aren't lists of things, though, so there's really no need for commas. In this one I just don't understand why they can't put them in there. I know there are grammatical errors all the time in song titles but using "don't" instead of "doesn't" don't (ha!) bother me at all. Reading "noun noun noun" or "verb verb verb" without commas between them really does, though. Anyway...Rodney disowns "Honesty"? I hadn't heard anything about that. It was a big hit for him and I used to hear it all the time at the restaurant where I worked in high school. Were you maybe thinking of "Invisibly Shaken"?

Bye, Bye Heads Carolina, Tails California Jesus, Take the Wheel Easy Come, Easy Go Work Hard, Play Harder Cheater, Cheater Fool, I'm a Woman Ring on Her Finger, Time on Her Hands Honey, I'm Home I Like It, I Love It My, Oh My Like, it's not the most common thing ever. But it's not unheard of in the slightest and there's literally no reason why they couldn't have put commas in the title of this.

He's had a few good songs but has never been able to sing. I doubt I will ever hear this on the radio.

iTunes preview sounds decent. Vocal isn't particularly great though.
*Might* go top 40, but I don't see this doing much at all.

Wow Rodney's voice has deteriorated. Catchy song nonetheless. Hope it does well for him.

I might be the only one here that loves this song. Its his best in a long time and, Its much better than most of the singles out now. With a few exceptions of course. (Like the new ones from Carrie, Trisha, Blake, Maddie & Tae, Brad, Randy, Jake, TBP, Easton, Josh, Jon) I know thats 11 but thats 11 out of 60 singles on the charts that i like thats pretty bad.

No, I kind of enjoy it as well. Rodney's voice is still grating as ever, but the melody is easy going and catchy - Plus the song is more country sounding than most these days. Unfortunately for Rodney, I think his days of radio success are behind him. If this song were released 10 years ago then perhaps he could get a top 30 single out of this but I just can't envision country radio sending this song up the charts. I'm not even going to consider the label he's on for once. I don't see this going top 40, though I hope I'm wrong.

Not that it matters but pretty sure walker hayes had a hand in writing this. Sorry for doubling up with posts. Yes, Walker did have a hand in writing this with Ryan Bizarri. Walker also sings backup on the song.
