I really doubt she cares about the charts that much tbh Not just charts, but sales, awards, etc. Basically, Adele is going to snatch her wig and steal her spotlight so Taylor is probably going to run for the hills. What are you even talking about? Sales? 1989 did (is doing) incredibly well. It surpassed all expectations. Singles? 1989 had 5 singles, 5 Billboard top 10 and 5 #1 on pop radio (if I'm not mistaken... I don't remember if Style reached #1) Awards? This year's AMAS and the Grammys next year have nothing to do with Adele. She released too late. (She will definitely be nominated next year, I have no doubt) So, again... what are you talking about? -This whole thing of comparing these two amazing, talented and incredibly successful women makes me so mad. They can coexist and slay the charts at the same time. They are basically the only ones still selling big. Let them be and get a life-

MVs:
1. Wildest Dreams (she's gorgeous, man candy is gorgeous, cinematography is Oscar level gorgeous, and the ending has a surprising emotional punch to it) 2. Bad Blood (the only Gaga let's go all out BIG pop video since, well a Gaga video) 3. Shake It Off (fun and cute and Taylor all the way) 4. Blank Space (Never got the hype for this one, and it still feels forced to me coming from her. Stunning visuals though) 5. Style (YAWN)

But let's be honest though, Taylor REALLY cares for charts and awards ;) Both of which she has had tremendous success with. So, one artist can do so on a larger scale? And? lol Taylor still crushes 99% of artists in that respect. I highly doubt she's crying over Adele. lol

I do wonder if she would want to release the 6th single and risk it not getting to no.1? Right now, the era is perfect with a perfect 5 no.1's. Idk, she just seems like someone who cares about these stuff.

Idk, she just seems like someone who cares about these stuff. We have no reason to believe the 6th single wouldn't go #1. We also had no reason to believe that this one would. Katy did it and it paid off. Also, even if it didn't go number one, it doesn't really tarnish this album at all. So why if it peaked at number 3 instead of 1? How many albums have 6 top 3 singles? Top 10? Top 20? Six charting singles? Not many. Adding anything to this era's run does nothing except add icing to the cake.

But Taylor probably has more pull than Adele when it comes to that format, to be honest. I think she'd be safe for the #1.

No, I think the only thing that would keep a 6th single from reaching #1, would be if it struggles enough that it peaks significantly lower - like even stopping at just #4.
While that might not seem significant at first, consider this: Counting "Blank Space", there have been 18 #1s so far this year. #2s? Just 4. #3s? 3!
Yes, that's right. There have been more than double the number of #1 hits than that of #2 and #3 combined. So suffice it to say that once you reach that tip-top stratosphere...it's actually easier to hit #1 than it is to miss. At least, this year it has been.
Having said this: Is anyone really prepared to make the claim that a 6th single from this album would absolutely not at least go Top 3?

Taylor already do her run, got the money transferred to the bank and the awards nicely perched in her cabinet by the time Hurricane Adele ravages all competitions. She will be fine and dandy. The ones who actually got the short end of the stick is perhaps Rihanna, Katy, or Gaga, or maybe all of them, since they're releasing when the Hurricane is still going strong.

Still think Blank Space will go down as THE hit off this album and her signature song. I love Blank Space & Style. I dont care for the other 3 singles, especially Bad Blood.

All I'm saying is that I think Taylor has got used to being the "it girl" for the last few years, and it seems kind of important to her to be in the spotlight. And now that she has some competition, I wouldn't be surprised to see her go on a hiatus until the Adele storm passes.

Justin Bieber's "Sorry" is currently outpacing Adele's "Hello" at pop radio this week (1616 spins vs. 1480 spins in the first 3 days of the tracking week). While Adele may end up taking the lead, it is clear that the release of "Hello" hasn't made programmers forget that other music exists.
Taylor's album is still selling well, and the constant radio presence is undoubtedly a factor. Any single she issues to radio will also probably sell 70K/week during its run. She also has a chance of scoring a sixth straight pop and Hot AC radio #1 from a non-re-issued album. She may want a relatively fresh single for the Grammys (one of the few shows at which I'd imagine she'd consider performing). There are plenty of reasons to promote another single; all of which trump the "OMG - Adele is getting more attention" argument.
To me, the more important consideration is timing. If she's going to stick with a "new every two" release schedule, she and her label clearly need to set an end date for the "1989" campaign. There needs to be separation between the last single's peak and the release of the first TS6 single in order to assure the new project feels "fresh."
That probably shouldn't prevent a sixth single, but it's something that I'm sure is becoming top of mind.
I'd also argue that Swift is happy - not resentful - about Adele taking some of the spotlight. The CONSTANT media attention is nice and lucrative in theory, but the longer it goes on, the greater the chance of burn-out/resentment. Having someone else receive a disproportionate share of media coverage helps her image in the long run.

I didn't think of that :O Yeah, with media's disproportionate focus on Adele right now, stuffs that would usually be a headliner might fall to side news.

Are you forgetting that she has already said that she is probably taking a break after the tour is done? Besides she ALWAYS dissappears for a few months when her tour is over and especially after the Grammys, or around that time, and reappears again back in July/August ready for a new era. I don't believe she will release LP #6 in 2016, but what I'm saying is that it's basically her :routine"

How soon after previous singles hit #1 did we get the next single announcement? Will we have to wait for this to lose spins?
