Hey all - Most of you know I run our weekly pulse chart. We are completing our third chart year this December! The chart can be found here in case you have missed it in your time throughout the years. We have consistently around 20 voters a week spread around between about 32 people who have voted this year. With jhomes87 permission, I have started this thread to get feedback on how you want the chart to develop. For example, the chart used to be just 15 songs long and you could only vote for five. (I am not sure most of ya'll could have handled that) However, after a vote we have now expanded it to 10 songs can be voted on and the chart is 20 songs long. Any and all suggestions are okay here! Feel free to give your feedback and what changes you would like to see. After some discussion, we will vote on what will be the pulse rules for 2015. We would love to have more participation as well, so feel free to join us anytime. Complete rules are on the first post. Feel free to message me if you have any questions or what to keep your feedback anonymous. I can post that for you. Thanks! bigfan101

One thing I would like to see, although this is a little different, but would be a ranking of all the #1 songs for the year of 2014. Everyone could rank the #1's song in order of their favorites, and then we at Pulse could determine which truly were our favorites of the year. We could even do a bracket style voting on it. Just a suggestion that I thought would be cool.

In past years we've generally used a top 64 year-end chart compiled by Zazie (similar to the Mediabase & Billboard year-end charts but just calculated differently and with different results). I'm not sure if he's planning on compiling a year-end chart this year but I've been compiling my own year-end points-based chart that is more or less based on Zazie's formula, so we could use that. In years past the bracket has been hosted by bamafan2102 or joey2002. Here's a look at the elite eight thread from last February: pulsemusic.proboards.com/thread/138724/elite-voting-starts

Somehow I think I combined those two separate things in my head because it's been awhile now since the last time those were done. But yeah, that's what I was thinking of actually.

Since almost everybody posts at least 20 titles this should be the standard weekly vote for 2015 with an expansion to a weekly Top 50. I believe this will slow down the song's movement pattern and the chart life be more organic. Secondary radio circuit's adds and other sources should also be considered for song eligibility (Roots / MusicRow / RadioWave / BDS Canada / Play MPE, etc.). Otherwise we always finish up with A-Listers who dominate the current music climate. Lesser known acts should be pushed. PS: If you wish I can put a rolling song index with eligible songs on a cloud or as an attachment in my posts. I'd really like to see the pool of regular voters participating expanded. Maybe tagging posters could be an idea. IDK :) bigfan101 If I failed to mention: Thanks for your great job! :)

I am game to do a bracket style for our top 64, but don't want to confuse people by doing two of them if Zazie still plans to do his. jhomes87, .indulgecountry dm2081 thoughts?

What will the bracket consist of? Does everyone submit their 4 best songs of the year, with no repeats? That would be my suggestion, then rank everyone's seeds?

^ I was thinking it could be the top 64 songs on the year end chart. For example, songs 1-4 would be the top 4 seeds and then songs 5-8 would be the next four and so on.

If we're going to do this, I say do it this way. But this sounds similar to something we already usually do every year anyway so I'm not sure if its necessary.

I second the expansion of the chart again if it's not too much work for you bigfan101 . If it is I am happy with it but I already list 40 songs per week, just a thought.

I personally think a Top 20 with 10 votes should be the cap. Anything more is really pushing it, in my honest opinion.
