ORACULAR SPECTACULAR: Based on early, early sales, it appears that Foo Fighters (Roswell/RCA) will score the week’s top debut at about 200k. Pink Floyd (Columbia) and Garth Brooks (Pearl/RCA Nashville) are on a collision course for the runner-up slot, with each trending toward 140k. These numbers all but assure that Taylor Swift will spend a third week at #1. Her previous album, Red, experienced a third-week decay of 43% which, if 1989 follows a similar trend, suggests a total somewhere around 225k. Keep in mind, however, there’s always some uncertainty surrounding Monday projections, and things could look very different tomorrow morning. (11/11a) www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgi

Wow. She may actually give Garth Brooks a run for #1? Never would've called that, but Brooks really shot himself in the foot with such a terrible flop of a comeback single.

The new Pink Floyd album should do fairly well too. It has 2 versions in the Top 10 on iTunes, 3 versions in the Top 15 physicals on Amazon, #1 & #12 Amazon MP3 album, plus whatever they're doing through brick and mortars. Pretty exciting the Top 4 should all top 100k, and next week should be strong too with 1D, 5SOS, and Nickelback (there's no accounting for taste, i guess)

Shania hasn't been gone nearly as long as Garth and had good reasons just like Garth did when he retired

If these sales hold up for Taylor, she will have sold around 1.9 million in three weeks and cross 2 million in 4 weeks. That is pretty damn amazing especially since that will be the total before Black Friday and Christmas sales really kick in.

Shania hasn't been gone nearly as long as Garth and had good reasons just like Garth did when he retired Doesn't matter, honestly. They're both of a completely different generation of Country music and fans have certainly shifted their focus from the old to the new. Just as it was a poor call on Brooks' behalf to release such a poor lead single for Man Against Machine, Shania Twain releasing a poor lead single to her next studio album (whenever that may be) would likely bring about the same result. They've both been essentially gone from the bulk of the industry for 10+ years, and by that time, there really isn't any saying as to which artist's comeback will be more successful than the other. It all depends on the lead single and promo -- both of which Brooks has completely dropped the ball on.

Where's our crazy Shania Twain fan when he need him/her? I don't believe he survived the day when Metallica's self titled overtook Come On Over's Soundscan total.

Hopefully Shania doesn't do the same mistake. Garth and his camp really messed up by not making the song available for fans to listen to. Shania's people will be way smarter and capitalize off of new promotional platforms (itunes, Vevo, ect.) and not try and change the music industry.

5 Second of Summer are releasing an EP, which might not even have sales counted since they didn't do it for their "Amnesia" EP either. Dunno about HITS, but I know Billboard counted the EP as a Single and that's how the song reached a secondary peak of #24 before succumbing to the album effect (or I guess in this case Single effect)

That's probably what is going to happen with "Good Girls".

One thing i really appreciate about 5SOS is their management knows they have a limited shelf life and opening milks every last cent out of their fans that they can.The EPs are really just a way to get the same people who bought the album to pay for the singles over again by throwing in a live version and a left over throw away track.

Disappointed that Foo won't take the crown, happy that they broke 200K. These estimates are not based on any actual sales. The Foos haven't broken 200k yet. All these albums comes out tomorrow, Tuesday. These are industry estimates. They can be spot on or be really really off.

I want to know how many digital copies Garth sells. GhostTunes has an absolutely awful interface. Not to mention, nobody knows what it is.
Amazon apparently isn't stocked with physical copies, the site says it will take 1-2 days after you order for it to be processed.

The one thing Garth did was get a ton of exposure with the Wal-Mart box set - it did hit #1 and moved far more than was anticipated for a 'limited" collection - I seem to recall extra pressings - that kind of got lost because Beyonce stole the show a couple of weeks later.

Uff 1989 is up for pre-order on vinyl on Amazon, and its cheap. $14.99. They'll move units at that price for even casual collectors. And I'll just leave this here: He might not sell a ton of records, but I don't mind. Just keep doing that Nick.
