Listened to the previews on ITUNES and I was incredibly bored. Then again, I bought Born Sinner and outside of an interlude and Crooked Smile and Power Trip, nothing really excited me there either, so I shouldn't be surprised. He's just not a very exciting artist.

Just finished listening and I really like it! Standouts are "Wet Dreamz" (favorite on the record), "Fire Squad", "No Role Modelz" and "Apparently". It's sort of on the boring side, but it's still a really good effort.

It's way more lowkey than Born Sinner, but I think that really works. This is one of the few hip hop albums released this year that I can listen to straight through. There really aren't any misses or filler on here. My favorites are Wet Dreamz, Fire Squad, and GOMD.

Purchased and listening to the album now. Another solid collection from him! Might become my favorite of his after a few more listens. "G.O.M.D.", "Wet Dreamz" and "No Role Modelz" are my top 3.

Even freaking Note To Self shits all over 90% of the hip hop tracks out there from 2014. I'd like to know who they edit out when he's talking about not being allowed to use a sample though.

79 so far on Metacritic. His highest rating out of all 3 albums.

Fuck it. I support art. I bought both his AND K. Michelle's CDs. At first, I was excited because I thought I had a $5 Best Buy coupon but it just said..."Your coupon is coming soon..." No matter. I listened to a few more clips on Spotify for both artists and thought they were worth my money. Hopefully, I'm right.

Haven't listened to K. Michelle's album, but J's definitely worth it.

Haven't listened to K. Michelle's album, but J's definitely worth it. YESSSS I feel like I was being stubborn. When "From Time" by Drake came on, I was reminded that it's not always about flash; it's about raw talent. I recognize both J. Cole and K. Michelle have it. It's just not always immediately compelling.

OK. J. Cole's album crept up on me. Holy shit. So glad I paid for this. Even that long ass thank you song. He had me laughing when he thanked Jonah Hill and someone else random and was like "Nah, just kidding; I don't know them!" This album goes back to hip-hop essentials. Very well done and I agree that it's his best.

You know what man, you deserve that #1 album even more than you did. This tribute performance to Michael Brown was emotional, powerful and soulful. The depth of his character is truly legit. I love people who use the a big promo spot for the greater good. He could've used to play one of his more mainstream songs for that audience but chose to send a message. Respect.

My other comment was a tad inappropriate to include with that last bit but I'm so sexually attracted to this man now. Because of his mind. That is so hot!

My ONLY gripe is his incessant use of the N word but, unfortunately, he is not the first nor the last rapper to do so. I'm actually surprised Pitchfork gave him such a mediocre rating. This album seems right up their alley. Oh well. Such a well-crafted album and better than 99% of the high-profile rap albums to come out this year, including ones that have yet to drop. It's one thing to make an album full of fake depth in order to try to show people how "real" you are and it's another to live and breathe it.
