There is no way '1 Sun' is mastered. I would love to know who mastered that and what they consider "mastering".
I guess these were mastered if credited, but some of them were mastered rather poorly if that's the case. A lot of these cuts just sound incredibly raw, like they weren't even totally mixed.

I'm thinking that's what they were going for intentionally, in some of the cases. Have you ever listened to The Flaming Lips? They excel in the muddy/soaked-in-bong-water aesthetic.

Yeah, the album was certainly mastered. It is just the vibe of the record that she wanted. Everything is finished and complete. I just wish there was a HQ download but since it is Wednesday now, I will just download a soundcloud rip I guess and wait...

Yeah, I love them actually ( Yoshi Battles the Pink Robots is amazing), but something still sounds distinctly "off" about this record, all aesthetic considered. Maybe it's the fact that the sound quality available from Soundcloud is limited and f**king with the sound, idk, but '1 Sun' in particular is just painful. It physically hurts my ears to listen to, as dramatic as that sounds.

The version I downloaded sounds pretty HQ but I don't remember 1 Sun in particular so I will have to go back and revisit that one.

Listening to this complete marvel of an album (save very few songs, I am a big fan), I feel compelled to revisit The Flaming Lips. I remember being really into them when I was in college and then I went back and got into The Soft Bulletin. After At War With The Mystics, I lost track of them but I am really glad that Wayne hooked up with Miley. I love the fact that their relationship is based on their pure love of drugs and each other in a non-sexual way. The more I read about Miley and listen to these songs, the more I want to live her lifestyle LOL. I doubt I could handle it but it would be fun for, like, a week.
Edit: I just went back to 1 Sun and it reminds me of something Gaga was trying to attempt on ArtPop (I feel like Mary Jane Holland comes to mind or maybe Heavy Metal Lover on Born This Way.) It's a very abrasive style, but yet, sounds expensive. Her voice cuts across different channels and there is some interesting background effect. I like that song. I dunno...I definitely feel like my predilection towards pot smoking makes me like this album WAY more than I should but I dig.

Does anyone knows what songs from Can't Be Tamed leaked? (Songs that didn't made the cut)

Now that I've had an full work to digest this album, I honestly think that this will be remembered as something groundbreaking and momental to her career years down the line. Admittedly at first I couldn't get into some of tracks (and still a few I struggle w) but after a few spins, I'm blown away. I just wish someone would have condensed it by four-five tracks. Regardless, this one is a game changer. I've never been a huge Miley fan but count me in because she is exciting, she's smart, not boring and she is taking chances which is what a budding legend does. Kudos.

This is on Apple music and spotify with the album called Bang Me in the Box and the artist listed as Destiny Hope, her birth name. Only 14 songs are on that album

She probably did this because RCA doesn't want to release it.

People are saying a fan did but its that even possible? It's on Apple music, Google play(to buy), spotify, Amazon digital(to buy), basically everywhere but iTunes. Would someone actually be able to get copyrighted music that belongs to someone else on all those platforms(and be selling it). I didn't think just anyone could put stuff on those platforms

Yea I don't think so either.. We'll see how long it stays on those platforms.. But can a random person just upload it to all those different platforms? I didn't think just anyone could upload stuff there. Like it's not like soundcloud where anyone can do it, is it?

That's what I thought. It's still up on all those platforms so maybe it is legit. I'm sure her team would know about this by now

while i still haven't had time to get through all 23 tracks (def could have been trimmed down) i ended up liking what i heard more than i thought i would when i originally learned the "album" was actually her experimental ep with the flaming lips and not the studio album follow up to bangerz. i can't quite put my finger on it yet but even though a lot of this is very weird it oddly works and is enjoyable. plus there are a few more tame gems on here that could have easily been included on bangerz or the potential follow up. i found myself liking the mike will made it tracks more than the ones she did with the flaming lips and hope she continues more in that direction for the bangerz follow up.
ultimately i think this gave her good press and some artist cred for trying something different, not focusing solely on pop radio, and streaming the album for free. props to her, but now get to work on finishing bangerz' follow up :)

I am loving BB Talk.... I know the album is on Spotify/Apple Music at least partially now, but is there a ranking of the most popular songs on SoundCloud? As far as I know, SoundCloud doesn't count towards Streaming on the Hot 100 (yet)...

The slimmed down Bang Me In The Box version is much more cohesive and listenable IMO. It feels less like a bunch of demos thrown on Soundcloud and more like an indie release.
