I wish this had a chance somehow to be heard by the public. Her team should try and get some placement for one of the songs. It could work.
But yea, I'm just happy we got this album. It's by far her best work.
Can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy and jam to Feather while driving! ;)

Just listened to the album and I have mixed reviews. Definitely not Pop radio friendly. The "pop" songs on this album do not deliver, IMO. HOWEVER, the end of the album delivers. The tracks towards the end of the album are some of her best yet. "Love Strikes" and "Round Your Little Finger", SLAY me (especially RYLF...WOW!). I also like "Only One" and "Damage Control".

Any predictions on the BB200??? Honestly, after Jordin debuting at #161, I can't see Kat debuting Top 100 :(

Girl is busy with Scorpion. Grr. I wish her priority would be singing and not acting.

It's a shame she may not have another album as her priority. Can't blame her for going where the money is though.
Just ordered the album earlier.

I don't know how to see beyond the top-150 on the iTunes main chart but the album is up to #23 on Pop.

Like he produces the show, he doesn't manage her. If that were the case then boy I'd be pissed about the rollout of this era.

Like he produces the show, he doesn't manage her. If that were the case then boy I'd be pissed about the rollout of this era. What is Kat's management situation right now? IIRC her ex was her manager, and when they were going through their divorce he was trying to sue for his cut because he claimed that as her manager he'd gotten her everything she'd done up to that point. And they were married in CA so the 50/50 rule on her earnings also possibly applied. I didn't look at it closely so I may be screwing up the details; I only remember seeing an article about it and feeling bad that she had just landed Scorpion and was getting Jessica Simpson'ed by a mooch. I wish Scooter were her music manager; I'd like to think he could have hooked her up with a deal at a major. I understand music isn't her priority but there's no reason she can't put some more effort into it and make it a successful side venture, instead of just...a venture. I haven't given the album a listen yet but will do so later tonight. If it's good enough I'll see if I can find it at Target and add it to my 2015 flop collection that I regularly spin in the car. Carly and Jordin and Piece By Piece are looking for some new company, apparently.

#167 overall #23 pop #98 amazon
It's not doing that bad considering no one knows she has a album out. Imagine if she had actually promoted the hell outta it and had a label and resources to back it up.

She worked with major writers and got a major record exec (Teresa L. Whites) to be her E.P. but, especially after reading her interviews where she talked about how she finally felt relaxed and comfortable making an album, I almost feel like she purposely went through an indie label to release it just so she wouldn't feel pressured to promote it heavily or have to worry about any sales expectations. Acting is definitely her #1 priority and it appears she quickly gave up on any notion of being a music "star" so she'd rather not release music in a way that would force her to compete at all.

this album's just really, really good. Her Nylon interview kind of made me sad, tho. Seems she doesn't really want to push it, even. :(

There are a couple of good tunes on Hysteria. The title track is a bop. Break and Feather are really good. Only One is amazing. She is just not interested in her music career, which is sad considering how great her voice is.

I've always wondered why she didn't go the Bublé route right after the Idol. Maybe she wanted to be a "pop star" and when that didn't work just dropped the interest.

Hysteria is simply a great pop album and she should be proud.

Hysteria is a great track. But, Damage Control is my favorite on the album. That song is flawless.

The lack of promo for "Hysteria," and Kat's comments about the future of her music career make me sad. She's made some solid Pop music, but her bread and butter seems to be in Jazz, old-school music, but she clearly isn't interested in that route.
At any rate, she seems to have given up on being the Pop star she always seemed destined to be, but I don't think that's bad for her, by any means. She seems to have realized she just wants to sing, without all the baggage of promo, image, etc, which is fine. But, if she just wants to sing, clearly her expectations/what she really wants from her career had to come to light.
I'm really happy that she has found her passion in acting, but hope she is able to keep making music, in some capacity.
The album, though:
First off, it's so much better than I was expecting based on singles...which don't represent the album in any way, shape, or form.
The title track is great, and "Appetite" is so unexpectedly glorious; a whole album in the vein of that song would have been incredible.
I really like "Only One," and she sounds so insanely beautiful on "Round Your Little Finger."
It's a shame Kat doesn't seem interested in pushing this, but I suppose I can't blame her, with the way her music career has gone.
Definitely a solid album, though.
