I love that everyone is loving the LeAnn duet!! [hehe sorry] I noticed that as well. According to Hits, she topped 300K this week. That is great. I hope it tops 300K when the Soundscan totals come in. The objectivity in the LeAnn Rimes thread has inspired me. I am getting increasingly disappointed in Reba's live performances of BOY. The first one or two performances of this song seemed very heartfelt and emotional but the recent performance on Oprah seemed too staged and pretentious. I've noticed a gradual trend in this direction but the Oprah performance was just too much. I think Kelly's contribution is just as genuine as the first time she released the song solo which is even more impressive considering she's been singing the song non-stop for three years. I will say that I thought Reba's performance of Only Promise on Oprah was exquisite and very heartfelt. But I cringed during the BOY performance even though it was technically fine.

I've noticed that, and actually felt that the performance of BOY on Oprah was a bad choice to promote the album. The Justin performance was undoubtedly what got people's attention on the show. My roommate hates anything to do with country and she MADE me rewind that one to hear it again. It's an incredible song and the performance was great. BOY was just okay, I thought. I wish more of the partners could have been on there! That would have been amazing!

After hearing the clips from amazon, and of course hearing BOY.. I really wanted to buy this album. I went to three stores today. Target, Walmart, and Circuit City. All three were completely sold out and had ordered a new shipment. I can't remember the last time that happened to me.

I was extremely pleased with the way this album turned out. Since I am a huge Reba fan, I planned on purchasing this ever since the project was announced, however, I didn't think it would be this good. Every once in a while, it's nice to have a surprise like this.
I thought I'd share my ranking of the tracks.
1. Sleeping With the Telephone (Faith and Reba are amazing in the chorus.) 2. When You Love Someone Like That (Love the song itself, and LeAnn is a great partner for Reba.) 3. Does That Wind Still Blow in OK (Reba + Ronnie + Traditional Country = instant hit.) 4. Because of You (Like the song a bunch -- perhaps better with solo Reba?) 5. Every Other Weekend (Perhaps this should be ranked higher on my list. I'm not much of a Chesney fan -- haven't been since his early stuff, but this is great. Ronnie Dunn would have blown this song away too.) 6. Break Each Other's Heart Again 7. Everyday People 8. These Broken Hearts 9. The Only Promise That Remains 10. Faith In Love

I think I am the only person who doesn't really care for the Justin single. I only heard it once but it did nothing for me. My faves are the ones with Faith, Leann, Vince, Kenny, and Don. I'd take any of those for the next single. I was surprised at how much I love the one with Kenny. I'm not crazy over the Justin duet either. Actually, it's probably one of my 3-4 least favorite songs on the album. I don't hate it, but I'm not a big fan of all the repetition in the lyrics. Funny enough, the song with Timberfake is the only song on the album I do NOT like, I can even pass the Chesney and the Flatts duet, but not the Justin song and he isn't even singing any lead....I think the better tracks are the Faith Hill, LeAnn Rimes, Don Henley and Vince Gill ones, anyway sooo glad for Reba having a Billboard 200 number one debut...congratulations to all the long time Reba fans!!!!!!!!

Thank god if the news is true. "The Only Promise That Remains" is a bonafide smash. And with her album sales numbers in, I think country radio will be all over anything she puts out.

"Duets" Launch Reba To New HeightsReba McEntire achieves career milestones with her 31st studio album Reba Duets, which debuted last week with unprecedented sales of more than 300,000 landing her in the top spot on The Billboard 200 chart. This marks the first time McEntire has ever reached the #1 spot on The Billboard 200 (closest was #2 with Read My Mind in 1994) and is her biggest first week album sales to date. McEntire's prior top first week sales number was 124,000 with It's Your Call in 1992. Reba Duets surpassed this by 176,000. "I am beyond thrilled to have my biggest sales week ever with my 31st album," exclaimed McEntire. "To get to share it with all my friends on this duets project is icing on the cake!" "When the consummate superstar gets her creative juices flowing we all look like geniuses," said Luke Lewis, Chairman UMG Nashville. "Great singer + great songs + great guest artists + great producer = great record." McEntire has achieved 33 #1 hits, won 15 American Music Awards, 12 Academy of Country Music Awards, 7 Country Music Association Awards and 2 Grammy's. As a critically-acclaimed actor, McEntire has been awarded the Drama Desk and Outer Critics Awards for her work on Broadway in Annie Get Your Gun and starred in the WB/CW's top-rated sitcom Reba for 6 seasons, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination and a People's Choice Award. Her charity work stretches far and wide and includes Habitat For Humanity, First Book, the Reba Ranch House, the Reba McEntire Center for Rehabilitation and the Reba Mobile Mammography Unit. -- Country On-Demand

I'm thinking the success of this album could give Reba dark horse status in the CMA Female Vocalist race.
Also hoping this album will garner her some Grammy love in February.

I'm surprised the one with Ronnie Dunn is in last. I would've figured that it would've been high up there.
It was obvious the Justin duet was going to be a single at some point, to me. That one would probably make the biggest splash, especially outside of country.

Anybody watch Leno last night with Reba and Vince? I'm not sure if I liked it all that much but it was nice to hear a different song performed. www.youtube.com/watch?v=dT9gRhIOlycoh and what a great week Reba had!!

Billboard Chart BeatWORTH THE WAIT: She waited a long time to see her name at the top of The Billboard 200. Just over 20 years after making her first appearance on this survey, Reba McEntire collects her first No. 1 album with "Reba Duets" (MCA). This is McEntire's 20th entry on the Billboard album chart, and her first top 10 set in nine years. Her "If You See Him" album peaked at No. 8 the week of June 20, 1998. Prior to "Duets," McEntire visited the top 10 five different times, with these albums: "It's Your Call," No. 8 (1993) "Greatest Hits Volume Two," No. 5 (1993) "Read My Mind," No. 2 (1994) "Starting Over," No. 5 (1995) "If You See Him," No. 8 (1998) The Oklahoma-born singer made her first appearance on The Billboard 200 the week of June 6, 1987, with "Reba McEntire's Greatest Hits," an album that peaked at No. 139. How could she make her first chart appearance with a greatest hits collection? Well, by the time she made her Billboard 200 debut, Reba had already been charting on the Top Country Albums tally for almost six years. She was signed to Mercury when she made her country album chart debut the week of Oct. 3, 1981, with "Heart to Heart," an album that went to No. 42. Reba's first set to top the country chart was "Whoever's in New England" in 1986. "Reba Duets" is her 10th No. 1 album on this list, and her first since November 2001, when "Greatest Hits Volume III - I'm a Survivor" spent one week in the penthouse. Her longest-running No. 1 album on the country chart is "Sweet Sixteen," which remained in pole position for 13 weeks. Reba's debut at No. 1 on the country album chart knocks Kenny Chesney's "Just Who I Am: Poets & Pirates" (BNA) down to No. 2, but Chesney still has a piece of the action at No. 1 thanks to his duet with McEntire on "Every Other Weekend."

I wish we would hurry up and get confirmation on the next single.
As far as I'm concerned, the next single should already be released and be top 40 by now. As it is, we don't even know what the next single is for sure. Wow, I hope this turns out ok for Reba and the album.

At allaboutcountry.com they have "Sleeping with the Telephone" as a new release. Interesting. That's unexpected. AllAboutCountry is pretty reliable. I was wanting this to be a single at some point but didn't expect it now with Faith trying to get Red Umbrella off the ground. Vocally, I think they sound great together. I hope they do a video.

MCA needs to confirm the second single ASAP. Either the Faith or Justin song is fine with me (I prefer Faith's, but Justin's makes more sense right now), but just get something out there while her album is still selling so well.

Agreed...just put something out! The momentum from the sales success would take pretty much any song she released from the album at least to the Top 20. Wasting this time is blowing the momentum the album has going for it.

If the Hits Daily Double numbers are similar to Soundscan, she finished ahead of Faith and B&D's debuts this week...and it's her third week out. I would have never thought that. She passed the 500K mark this week as well and it looks to still remain inside the top 10 on the Billboard 200.
While the drops have been modest to good, she needs to hurry and release that second single!!!!
