Some of you may know me over by the Personal Charts forum and the Polling Booth, but for those of you who don't, I am JL44 (aka Jake). Although I listen to a little bit of everything, only last year have I started listening to country. And I love it! I listen mostly to modern country, but occasionally, I'll listen to some classic country. I am best known around here for the JL44 Top 44 and my tournaments, and now it's time to bring it here! Introducing, the 2014 Country Songs Tournament! Here's how it'll work: Thanks to Billboard, I know the top 100 songs of this year, but we'll only include the top 48. Each round, we'll cut the field in half to 24, to 12, to 6, to 3, and then those 3 will face off together for the title! Each round will last 48 hours, have fun and may the best song win!

With all due respect, I believe that something like this is already done at the end of each year by someone else in the country forum.

I don't have time to read every thread and see what everyone else is doing, but I try not to copy anyone else's idea. Was this done in the same tournament format?

Yes, although it's broken into smaller brackets and doesn't use the poll feature. And it hasn't been done for this year yet, which is why you wouldn't have seen a thread for it.

Search threads for "Pulse Country Year-End Challenge" and you'll see how it was done last year, for example. :)

Was this done in the same tournament format? Yes, although it's broken into smaller brackets and doesn't use the poll feature. And it hasn't been done for this year yet, which is why you wouldn't have seen a thread for it. I'm fairly new to the forum and this is the 3rd big tourney I've hosted. But if you do it say like this (let's assume the top 16 is like this)... 01 This is how we roll 02 Burnin' it down 16 Get me some of that 15 Give me back my hometown
08 Drunk on a plane 07 Bartender 09 Leave the night on 10 Something bad
05 Play it again 06 American Kids 12 I don't dance 11 Drink a beer
04 Bottoms Up 03 Dirt 13 Beachin' 14 Where it's at
...the right side is disoriented and wouldn't that confuse some people? If there was a bracket feature here, it'd help make it neater. Plus, although I averaged 10 voters per match-up, I learned that posting every match-up in the polling booth (for the Mid Decade Chart Tourney, the winner was Set Fire to the Rain) wasn't necessarily the best idea. The advantage of doing this is because it's less threads, and it's simple elimination, but I have some contestants who don't pick the max amount of songs to advance. The other option I've been exploring was a bracket via Excel. Any other suggestions?

@jakelmmrs44 The point I'm trying to make here is that we already have someone doing this same thing soon (and formatted much better), and in the nicest way possible I'm trying to let you know that your tournament is just not needed, lol. Instead, I would invite you to just participate in voting for the tournament that Kanenrá:ke will be putting up soon. :)
