FZ Top 40 - 2014 YEAR END CHART


 

It's time for the official FZ Top 40 year end chart! More than 310 songs charted this year. I'm going to present you my personal top 100 of 2014 + maybe some useless stats & facts! Ready? 2014's final chart is coming Thursday, December 25th. And that's the day I'm gonna start the countdown!

How the F#@! does this work?
My chart's methodology is very easy. Every week, the number one receives 40 points, the #2 receives 39 .. #39 receives 2 and #40 receives 1 point. All these points together = the year end chart! 

How long will it take to count down?
I'm starting December 25th. If I hurry up, I will be done by New Year's Eve, but I don't like to hurry with things.

2 songs that didn't make the top 100 this year, but will in 2015...


Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk

Currently at number one on my chart, but charting only at #106 on my year end chart. I predict "Uptown Funk" will continue its success in 2015. I hope it will make that year's top 100!


Olly Murs ft. Demi Lovato - Up

On this week's chart (I will post it right after I've posted this), "Up" by Olly Murs and Demi Lovato breaks into the top 5. The song is quite new, so unfortunately it didn't make it on 2014's year end top 100. It made #163 though! This will hit big figures in 2015!

I like these. Sad that Paramore didn't make it as well as Kiesza. The Aronchupa song also bubbled under for me.

#100 Eminem ft. Rihanna - The Monster	PP: 07 Wks: 08	I still love this song! It hit #1 on my chart in 2013, and spent its most weeks in that year, so that's why it's placed this low.
#99 Zara Larsson - Carry You Home	PP: 06 Wks: 07	I'm glad she made the top 100. Zara Larsson sure is a girl you're going to hear a lot about next year.
#98 Broiler - Rays of Light	PP: 10 Wks: 08	This Norwegian DJ hit the chart for the first time this year.
#97 Tove Lo - Not On Drugs	PP: 10 Wks: 09	"Habits" didn't make the top 100, but "Not On Drugs" did, and two other song of  hers. You will find out soon!
#96 Anastacia - Stupid Little Things	PP: 10 Wks: 09	In the US, she's had only one hit, but in Europe she is/was a superstar. This  song marked her comeback in 2014.
#95 Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud	PP: 02 Wks: 09	Ed's only song on this year's top 100 has been in the lower areas of the chart a lot, but is now charting in the top 3. There's a big chance of this hitting the top 100 in 2015 as well!
#94 SecondCity - I Wanna Feel	PP: 08 Wks: 08	Former UK #1 "I Wanna Feel" by SecondCity did great on my chart as well.
#93 Ginny Blackmore & Stan Walker - Holding You	PP: 04 Wks: 07	A beautiful duet by two big singers from New Zealand.
#92 Indila - Dernière Danse	PP: 07 Wks: 07	The first French song on the top 100 is "Dernière Danse" by Indila, which was a  big hit in a lot of European countries.
#91 RAC ft. Matthew Koma - Cheap Sunglasses	PP: 10 Wks: 08	Matthew Koma sounds good on EDM music. Portuguese producer RAC might've thought of that, too. "Cheap Sunglasses" has also made it into this year's top 100. And Matthew? We'll see him back soon... twice!
#90 Alesso ft. Tove Lo - Heroes  (we could be)	PP: 06 Wks: 09	Let's post one more song in this post, then. Swedish heroes Alesso and Tove Lo teamed up for this great tune, at #90 on my top 100!

#86 Rondé - Run	PP: 04 Wks: 06*	Dutch band Rondé's first single. I really hope they can break through outside of The Netherlands!
#85 Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass	PP: 09 Wks: 12	All About That Bass wasn't Meghan's biggest hit on my chart! There's still one to come!
#84 Fatboy Slim & Riva Starr ft. Beardyman - Eat Sleep Rave Repeat (Calvin Harris remix)	PP: 04 Wks: 07	This entered my chart in December 2013 and made it to the 2014 Year End  Top 100! It's also a former UK top 3 hit and still a great EDM tune!
#83 Maroon 5 - Lucky Strike	PP: 06 Wks: 08	Overexposed's final single that made my chart in January 2014.
#82 Jess Glynne - Home	PP: 06 Wks: 09	I believe Jess Glynne didn't release this as a single, but I loved it, so I  charted it.
#81 Christina Grimmie - Must Be Love	PP: 04 Wks: 07	She ended in a third place in season 6 of NBC's The Voice and this year, she made my chart for the first time.
#80 Route 94 ft. Jess Glynne - My Love	PP: 10 Wks: 09	There was Rather Be by Clean Bandit, but she was also on My Love by  Route 94! I'm glad this made top 10 back then.
#79 Iggy Azalea ft. MØ - Beg For It	PP: 09 Wks: 08	After the succesful The New Classic era, Iggy re-released her album with this great Fancy and Black Widow-ish lead single!
#78 Fences ft. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - Arrows	PP: 18 Wks: 12	2013 was the year of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. This year they only  charted with 1 song: Arrows with Fences, an indie rock project.
#77 DJ Fresh ft. Ellie Goulding - Flashlight	PP: 06 Wks: 08	Originally, this was on Ellie's Halcyon re-release,
#76 Rixton - Wait On Me	PP: 05 Wks: 07	This came after Rixton's big breakthrough Me And My Broken Heart, which made #1 this year.

#73 Taylor Swift - Blank Space	PP: 01(1wk) Wks: 06*	This is the lowest charting number one on my year end chart, because I've been charting it for only six weeks! This will get higher in 2015.. perhaps.
#72 Lorde - Tennis Court	PP: 10 Wks: 10	Lorde originally released this as the second single off Pure Heroine in home country New  Zealand. In the rest of the world, Tennis Court came third.
#71 Professor Green ft. Tori Kelly - Lullaby	PP: 09 Wks: 09	UK rapper Professor Green and singer Tori Kelly's only charting hit so far. They did great this year, and Lullaby is still on my current playlist.
#70 Little Mix - Move	PP: 11 Wks: 10	The Little Mix ladies had 4 hits on my chart this year, and 2 of them made it.  Now let's Move on wih #69!
#69 Lindsey Stirling ft. Lzzy Hale - Shatter Me	PP: 05 Wks: 08	American Violinist released her second studio album this year. Shatter Me features  Halestorm front-woman Lzzy Hale.
#68 Samantha Jade - Soldier	PP: 04 Wks: 09	2012 Australian X Factor winner Samantha Jade did a pretty good job with her song Soldier, making it to #68 on the year end chart, while it was released in 2013!
#67 Lady Antebellum - Bartender	PP: 09 Wks: 09	This is their first song I love since Need You Now. I'm glad it made top 100!
#66 Charli XCX - Boom Clap	PP: 14 Wks: 10	She made her chart debut with Fancy and Boom Clap became her second hit, but is not her  highest song on this top 100! Stay tuned...
#65 Ellie Goulding - Goodness Gracious	PP: 04 Wks: 11	One of my favorite singers of all time, Ellie Goulding, has had a hit with Goodness Gracious!
#64 Clean Bandit ft. Sharna Bass -  Extraordinary	PP: 11 Wks: 11	Two number one hits and one song (Extraordinary) peaking at #11: the British electronic group Clean Bandit did an awesome job this year!
#63 Robyn & Röyksopp - Do It Again	PP: 06 Wks: 09	Norwegian DJs Röyksopp and Swedish singer Robyn teamed up for the Do It Again EP this year, and this was the lead single.
#62 Austin Mahone ft. Pitbull - Mmm Yeah	PP: 06 Wks: 10	You can say what you want, but this song is just great. Dale.
#61 Anders Nilsen - Salsa Tequila	PP: 06 Wks: 08	It started as a parody on Spanish summer hits, but this song by Norwegian comedian Anders Nilsen and his friends went to #1 on the charts in Norway and The Netherlands!

I keep seeing Little Do You Know on everyone's countdown, and I enjoyed their debut Scarecrow, so I looked it up, and it's nice! :)

#60 Afrojack ft. Wrabel - Ten Feet Tall	PP: 04 Wks: 09	After The Spark (charting at #192), Afrojack released this big hit with vocals from American singer Stephen Wrabel.
#59 My Crazy Girlfriend - Go F*ck Yourself	PP: 03 Wks: 08	My Crazy Girlfriend is a not very well-known pop and hip hop band from Los Angeles. Go F*ck  Yourself is a great pop dance tune!
#58 Meghan Trainor - Lips Are Movin	PP: 03 Wks: 08	At #85, we saw All About That Bass, but follow-up single Lips Are Movin did a little better this year. It reached top 3 on my chart!
#57 Fall Out Boy - Centuries	PP: 01(1wk)  Wks: 10	The second ex-#1 on this list. It was this year's only number one that contains a little bit rock.
#56 Angel Haze ft. Sia - Battle Cry	PP: 07 Wks: 10	Before global hit Chandelier, Sia joined rapper Angel Haze on Battle Cry!
#55 DJ Cassidy ft. Robin Thicke &  Jessie J - Calling All Hearts	PP: 11 Wks: 09	I was suprised this didn't became a big hit! (it has hit the top 10 on the UK singles chart, though).
#54 Tove Lo - Talking Body	PP: 02 Wks: 08	I actually like this better than Habits.
#53 Nielson - Kop In Het Zand translation: 'head in the sand'.	PP: 05 Wks: 10	On this countdown, there are of course a lot of songs sung in the English language. But there are also some French, German and one Dutch song. Nielson is a very popular singer in The Netherlands. So don't you worry; it's the only non-English/German/Dutch song on this top 100!
#52 Hedegaard - Happy Home	PP: 14 Wks: 14	This song didn't came higher on the chart than #14, but it lasted for 14 weeks! That's quite special. The vocals on this are from Danish singer Lukas Graham. Hedegaard is Danish too.
#51 Alle Farben ft. Graham Candy -  She Moves (Far Away)	PP: 08 Wks: 10	She Moves was one of this year's spring/summer hits in some countries. It kinda reminds me of Asaf Avidan & The Mojo's One Day/Reckoning Song (Wankelmut remix)!
#50 Enrique Iglesias ft. Pitbull - I'm A Freak	PP: 03 Wks: 09	Before Bailando came to slay us all in the summer, Enrique Iglesias released this song. It flopped quite hard though...
#49 Classified ft. B.o.B - Higher	PP: 06 Wks: 11	Canadian rapper Classified and American rapper B.o.B teamed up for this one!
#48 Brit Smith ft. will.i.am -  Provocative	PP: 02 Wks: 08	This is the less succesful #2-hit of the year.
#47 Avicii ft. Audra Mae - Addicted To You	PP: 08 Wks: 16	And this is the first song on this countdown that spent at least 16 weeks (or 4 months) on my chart. Avicii says: f**k featured artists, but I gave Audra Mae the credits on my chart :)
#46 Cro - Traum translation: 'dream'	PP: 06 Wks: 14	To end this part of the countdown, my favorite German song of 2014: the rapper with the panda mask.

#44 Owl City ft. SEKAI NO OWARI - Tokyo	PP: 01(1wk) Wks: 10	Owl City had four hits on my chart this year, with three of them reaching number one! This is the first one, a non-single from his upcoming 2015 album. It features Japanese band SEKAI NO OWARI.
#43 Hilary Duff - All About You	PP: 03 Wks: 9	She was back, first with promo single Chasing the Sun, which unfortunately didn't make my chart, and shortly after with smash All About You.
#42 Pitbull ft. Ke$ha - Timber	PP: 01(2wks) Wks: 9	Debuting in 2013, and reaching number one in the last two weeks of 2013 and the first two weeks of 2014: Timber by Pitbull and Ke$ha Kesha!
#41 Cobra Starship ft. Icona Pop -  Never Been In Love	PP: 04 Wks: 11	I love Cobra Starship. I had to wait more than two years for a new single!
#40 tyDi ft. Carmen Keigans - Live This Lie	PP: 01(1wk) Wks: 10	Australian DJ tyDi released Live This Lie in 2013, and this is the highest listed song that didn't enter my chart in 2014!
#39 Ella Henderson - Ghost	PP: 10 Wks: 13	Thank you, UK, for presenting us such a new talent! Second single Glow unfortunately didn't  make the top 100, but is bubbling under.
#38 Bingo Players - Knock You Out	PP: 08 Wks: 11	In December 2013, Paul Bäumer, not only a member of Bingo Players, but also a fellow  countryman, passed away after his battle with cancer. A few months later, Bingo Players  continued (Maarten alone), by releasing Knock You Out. This is a jam.
#37 The Chainsmokers - #SELFIE	PP: 07 Wks: 11	Of course, this was more a hype than a hit, but I did enjoy it!
#36 Calvin Harris ft. John Newman -  Blame	PP: 05 Wks: 12	The third single off Motion! Calvin Harris is the most succesful DJ on my chart ever, with  hitting the top 5 on my chart multiple times. His collaboration with British singer John Newman was one of them.
#35 Owl City ft. Britt Nicole -  You're Not Alone	PP: 03 Wks: 11*	There we have him again: Owl City! For another promotional song off his upcoming album, he collaborated with singer Britt Nicole.
#34 B.o.B ft. Priscilla - John Doe	PP: 02 Wks: 10	One of those songs I regret it didn't make it one place higher.
#33 Avicii ft. Robbie Williams - The Days	PP: 02 Wks: 11	Calvin Harris is the DJ with the most hits, but Avicii has got the most #1 hits ("Wake Me Up", "You Make Me" and "Hey Brother" hit #1 in 2013). This one, sadly, didn't make it.
#32 Owl City - Wolf Bite	PP: 01(1wk) Wks: 11	There's a lot of Owl City in this part, I know. Wolf Bite is a promotional single off his EP Ultraviolet. Like every Owl City song that exists, I love it!
#31 Echosmith - Cool Kids	PP: 08 Wks: 15	To end this part of the countdown, it's Cool Kids by Echosmith!

#29 Ariana Grande & The Weeknd -  Love Me Harder	PP: 03 Wks: 12	The My Everything era was very succesful on my chart. Problem and Break Free both made #1, and Love Me Harder also found its way into the top 3.
#28 Calvin Harris ft. Ellie Goulding -  Outside	PP: 01 (4 wks) Wks: 09*	Outside became Calvin's second #1 on my chart!
#27 Robin - Kesärenkaat translation: 'summer tires'	PP: 04 Wks: 13	Being only 16 years old, Robin Packalen from Finland is the youngest artist on my year end top 100. It's also the highest charting non-English song.
#26 Lilly Wood & The Prick -  Prayer In C (Robin Schulz remix)	PP: 04 Wks: 15	One of this year's most succesful remixes is the Robin Schulz remix of Prayer In C! The original song is actually pretty boring.
#25 Julian Perretta - All I Need	PP: 01 (2 wks) Wks: 12	You may or may not know him for his song Wonder Why from 2010: British singer Julian Perretta!
#24 MAGIC! - Rude	PP: 03 Wks: 15	I believe I've said that tyDi's Live This Lie is the highest charting song from 2013 on my 2014 year end chart. But... it isn't... oops! MAGIC!'s Rude debuted in 2013, left the chart near February 2014 and made a re-entry in the summer!
#23 Tiësto ft. Matthew Koma - Wasted	PP: 03 Wks: 12	Matthew Koma was on a lot of EDM songs this year, and there's still one to come on this countdown!
#22 Oliver Heldens x Becky Hill - Gecko (Overdrive)	PP: 01 (1 wk) Wks: 12	This year, Oliver Heldens became the youngest artist to hit #1 on my chart!
#21 Jessie J, Ariana Grande, &  Nicki Minaj - Bang Bang	PP: 03 Wks: 13	Jessie + Ari + Nicki = a superb collaboration AND a top 3 hit.
#20 Charli XCX - Break The Rules	PP: 01 (1 wk) Wks: 13	After Boom Clap, Charli XCX released this jam, and I'm still playing this a lot.
#19 Owl City ft. Lindsey Stirling - Beautiful Times	PP: 01 (2 wks) Wks: 16	This was the lead single off Owl City's recent extended play Ultraviolet. Beautiful.
#18 Sigma - Nobody To Love	PP: 02 Wks: 10	In 2014, we got to know Sigma, using a sample from Kanye West's Bound 2 and making it into a summer hit!
#17 Little Nikki - YoYo	PP: 02 Wks: 13	Little Nikki is an 18-years-old singer from England. In 2013, she had a little UK hit with Little Nikki Says.
#16 Zedd ft. Matthew Koma &  Miriam Bryant - Find You	PP: 03 Wks: 15	To close this countdown, it's German DJ Zedd with Swedish singer Miriam Bryant and American  singer Matthew Koma! I swear, he's on almost every dance song. I've no problems with that though.

#14 Clean Bandit & Jess Glynne - Real Love	PP: 01(3wks) Wks: 13*	Not only Rather Be (still to come) was a big success on my chart. Real Love was Clean Bandit and Jess Glynne's second #1 together!
#13 Rixton - Me And My Broken Heart	PP: 01(2wks) Wks: 12	Their debut single became #1 immediately.

#7 Demi Lovato ft. Cher Lloyd -  Really Don't Care	PP: 01(2wks) Wks: 16	Demi's second #1 of this era (Heart Attack went #1 in 2013).
#6 Sia - Chandelier	PP: 05 Wks: 18	18 weeks on chart, but never made it any higher than #5. That's quite special.
