Kanenrá:ke, you might wanna shrink the cover art in the opening post. It's a bit too big, lol. Sorry it looked fine the first time I check it lol.

It's out on iTunes! I'm liking this one a lot, I hope radio starts embracing females again so she can get a hit. Link to Buy!There's a unique quality to her. Here's hoping that radio realizes they can't have dudes 23 out of every 24 hours of airplay. ;)

There's something extremely likeable about Cam! Hoping for the best for her, she seems pretty genuine and I really like her voice! Sony has been signing artists left & right lately, but this was a good one for sure; they'd be foolish to not give her a shot!

She's been on her radio tour and this single's add date is far enough out to allow some buffer from the delivery date to the add date. The song itself will stand out from any other newcomer which could only help her right now, and I agree about something likable about her. I'm not predicting a hit but Sony is doing a lot for Cam to give her that shot.

According to BMI Database, this is actually also co-written with Maggie Rose unless the same songwriter (Tyler Johnson managed to write the same title twice with talented young female writers).

Cam is cute--- Cute sometimes sells. Look at Kellie Pickler. I do agree Country Music does need more female country artists. Males outnumber them 3 or 4 to 1

This was officially sent (or rather, re-sent) to country radio via PlayMPe TODAY (I got it but also bought it before the MPe or CDX sent out versions).

Cam's debut EP Welcome To Cam Country was released exclusively today through Spotify. The 4 song EP was produced by Tyler Johnson (I keep thinking the Tampa Bay Lightning forward, lol) and Jeff Bhasker. Source

Finally checked this out after reading kw9461's endorsement in the Michael Ray thread, and I'm charmed by this one. I do agree with everyone who finds the production choices to be overbearing and odd (that kazoo-like buzzing during the chorus is especially weird) -- it reminded me at times of the theme song to St. Elmo's Fire ("Man in Motion"). On the other hand, Cam's phrasing kind of reminds me of Kimberly Perry's (at least on The Band Perry's debut album) -- obviously, their vocal tones are quite different, but something about the way Cam distributes weight in the phrase and sometimes clips the endings of phrases makes me think of what initially made me find Kimberly Perry interesting as a vocalist. So the production notwithstanding, it's easy for me to hear a place for Cam (or this song, at least) in the country world. As for the song, I like the way the first verse sets out the unity between the motley crew of bar folk from different walks of life...everyone is hopeful, everyone is looking for a connection, and I appreciate how Cam finds an innocence in that before accepting the reality of how it's probably going to end and forging forward anyway. I also like the way that "My Mistake"'s depiction of a person going forth on a new search for love in a new scene kind of parallels a new artist's venture into a new musical space (in this case, country music and country radio). It's an especially effective introduction to a new artist for that reason. I know better than to predict or hope for a country radio hit, but it would be fun to see one materialize here.

Man, this song is really good. I'm just amazed at how many actual quality singles are coming out now (or have come out recently). "Sangria" from Blake, "Stay A Little Longer" from Brothers Osborne, "Little Bit Of You" from Chase Bryant, "Fall Apart" from Casey James, "I Got The Boy" from Jana Kramer, "Tonight Looks Good On You" from Aldean, "Hanging On A Lie" from Striking Matches, "Can't Get Away From A Good Time" from Logan Mize, "It Feels Good" from Drake White, "On To Something Good" from Ashley Monroe, "Biscuits" from Kacey Musgraves, "Country" from Mo Pitney, "Hangover Tonight" from Gary Allan, "Fly" from Maddie & Tae, "Better Than You Left Me" from Mickey Guyton, "Going Out Like That" from Reba, "Girl Crush" from LBT, "Little Toy Guns" from Carrie, and "Homegrown" from ZBB.
Just a lot of songs that I find myself really enjoying. Cam's song really stands out, but I think it's in a good way--I can actually see this one doing fairly well at radio. I'm not about to predict a huge radio hit either, but I could see this eventually working its way into the top 30.

Coming late to this thread. I like this well enough. I would prefer radio play Trisha or Lee Ann but I could get behind them giving Cam some attention. her voice seems to fit right in with what radio takes to these days. You do know Cam is a female, right?

You do know Cam is a female, right? Ha, I had to go back and see what context this line was from, cause it was so darn long ago. She's a new female artist, so that's likely not a good thing with radio these days (lol), but I do think her voice and the production stands out on radio and perhaps that's enough for what they are looking for. I'm certainly not guaranteeing a hit though.

This has really been growing on me. I love the chorus, even though I first found it a bit too loud/overproduced. It's a really catchy song though.
Also, a bit random, but I noticed that one of her other EP tracks, "Half Broke Heart," actually has more streams on Spotify than this one. Does anyone know why that song has been listened to so much?

"My Mistake" got 25 first week adds. Not too much but I do think it's a nice number considering Jason, Lady A and RaeLynn's latest were the competition. I think a bigger sign of optimism is the fact this got to #61 on MB and #57 on Billboard before the add date.
I think that this is looking pretty good to make at least a dent on the charts.

Ugh, why does Sony keep signing artists and then displaying no follow through at all? Dean Alexander, Ben Rue, now her. Going back further, we also have artists like Adam Brand, John Pierce, etc. All artists who are only on the label for one single, get absolutely ZERO pub, then disappear as quickly as they come.
Come to think of it, when's the last time Arista broke an artist successfully? Jason Michael Carroll?
As for this song, it's very pop, but also very well-constructed. Catchy but still having enough "meat" on it lyrically, and a great hook to boot. If Arista were even trying, this would already be Top 30.

It's a shame really she has talent who knows though she could re-bullet on Billboard. Does anyone know if this has a shot.

Agree with your overall point but Dean Alexander will be releasing his second single "Life Ain't Fair" later this summer, and he's on Warner/Elektra Nashville, not Sony. Ben Rue was just an odd signing that I still haven't wrapped my mind around. They took forever just to assign him to a label imprint then they barely push "I Can't Wait", even when it "officially" went for adds, then puff, he was gone. Adam Brand never stood a chance in my book and John Pierce back in early 2006 was really unfortunate. "I'd Still Have You" was a great song that for some reason, radio never gave a fair shake to, and then he was never to be heard from again (other than his credit on ZBB's "Sweet Annie"). Arista got a top 15 single out of both The Swon Brothers and The Henningsens but both didn't sell that well and the Henningsens didn't get an album out and the Swon Brothers were fortunate to even get theirs out there. RCA Nashville actually hasn't had a debut single from a new artist go top 20 on either chart since Crystal Shawanda's "You Can Let Go" in 2008 (top 20 on MB). Of course Crystal's success ended after that (at least state side as she continued to make some noise in Canada). I agree about the lyrics not having enough meat to them but the song is very catchy and well-constructed and the unique vocal arrangement really sets this one apart. I do think Arista has tried their best to promote this one but Cam didn't really have her radio tour go on long enough by the time this single was announced. Of course she continued her tour when this song was released but I think radio kinda buried this one since the chart was a bloodbath when it was released. This single won't be doing much more than what it has already done, which is shame since song deserves to make some noise on the charts. Sony's brutal record of breaking in new acts definitely needs to improve though.

"My Mistake" isn't done yet but after it is I think she'll get at least one more single.

I think the lyrics on "My Mistake" do have enough meat on them. Nothing super deep, but there is at least a recognizable story being told.

The fact that Logan's got buried is all you need to know about how overcrowded the charts are, as I thought for sure his would be a hit.

There should be at least two or three recurrents on the airplay chart tomorrow but in order for Cam to stay on she has to get her bullet back. I mean even if she did, Jake, Chris and Darius are all poised to debut this week.
