I'm with LBTrocks in liking his cover of "Drink You Away" but this is so horrible I don't know who in their right mind thought this would do good... Hopefully if RedBow sticks with him for another single his next one is better cause I think there's talent somewhere in him.

What's interesting about David is that he helps run New Voice Entertainment and has some production credits for some hit songs, so it's not like he hasn't accomplished anything in Nashville. But man his own recording artist career is just not going well. "Drink You Away" wasn't terrible but I wasn't a fan if it and radio didn't take to it either. I'm with Kanenrá:ke - I have no clue how anyone thought releasing this song was a good idea. I think after this song tanks (which it will), he might be in some trouble with the label. Rachel Farley got just two singles with one of the going top 40 and she was let go, so they might decide two chances is enough. Though Red Bow certainly did him no favors, selecting this song as a radio single.

While I realize in the grand scheme of things Fanning charting with this turd of a song is no big deal, it still pisses me off that stuff like this can get on the charts while Lee Ann Womacks last two singles couldn't even chart. David's on Broken Bow Label Group while Lee Ann's on Sugar Hill. That's pretty much the nuts and bolts of why. If we reversed this and David was on a super small label, I doubt this would get passed the 80's, it's that bad. While I see your point and even agree to an extent , I also think that its pretty over simplified as well. Lee Ann's age, gender & the fact that she dares sing actual country music pretty much exemplifies the trifecta of country radio poison. I'm not convinced that if she were on Capitol Nashville she would have charted. And well ...I cant even fathom a feasible excuse for this garbage to be on the charts.

Uncle Lumpy I never said Lee Ann's would do well. That's why I only cited what would become of David's song if he were on a small, no name label. Lee Ann's gender and traditional style are obviously a factor. I really wouldn't put too much effort into even debating this song and the fact it got one week at #60. It's not doing much from here on in, don't worry, lol. Edit: So I'm walking to my 1:00 class, and I hear something thumping from someone's truck in the adjacent parking lot. The song sounds familiar, then I realize its this song...No joke.

Songwriters for "Doin' Country Right" are Heather Morgan, Josh Osborne and Jimmy Robbins. David dropped by Music Row to [preview some of his material for his upcoming debut album: Music RowI don't think David will be getting this album out anytime soon though, unless Red Bow wants to without a hit as "Doin' Country Right" will likely not even make the top 55 on either chart.
