This song was originally recorded by Phil Collins and was released in 1990. It peaked at #4 on the Hot 100. In 2003, Deborah Cox recorded this for the Urban Renewal tribute album which featured covers of Phil's songs. The song was remixed by Valentin and then later Junior Vasquez for the single release. Valentin's remix got lots of airplay on the Dance radio stations. It spent 11 non-consecutive weeks at number one on the Billboard Dance Radio chart. It had 10 consecutive weeks though. The record was broken by Lady Gaga's "Poker Face" which spent 15 weeks at the top. Both of the club mixes by Valentin and Junior Vasquez omitted the bridge vocals. It is believed that the acapellas given to the remixers did not have those parts or they simply chose not to use them. A bootleg remix by Nic Mercy was produced using the album version and the label was interested in it, however, when they gave Nic the actual acapella to re-do it, he made an entirely different mix that the label decided to pass on. This is the Valentin Radio Edit that got the most airplay
The original by Phil Collins was a little more uptempo and it was upbeat in its composition, however, Deborah's version is more melancholy. I like the emotional delivery of the song coupled with the moody, dramatic production of Valentin's mix. Valentin maintained that melancholy vibe.

I absolutely LOVE this song and the Valentin remix which was the one radio played most often.

Absolutely fantastic. This is the argument for why it's worth it to take a recent-ish song and turn it into a dance smash (sorry, Cascada).

The original version was so bland. The Valentin remix definitely made the song.
