I hate when people do this, but I'm going to do it anyway. I really do think the Fifth Harmony sales total is what should have been expected.
There seems to be some freaking out on social media, but the group is unfortunately one of the biggest examples of the lingering disparity between social media influence and real world commerciality. You will not find a more passionate online fanbase than the one possessed by these girls, but Fifth Harmony just is not (at least not yet) a superstar act in the overall marketplace.
The radio play isn't there yet, and even the singles underperform when you consider the power of the fanbase (something like Sledgehammer couldn't even go Top 10 with Top 25 pop airplay, Christmas and a $0.69 sale all in its favor).
Still, I don't think 60-65K is at all bad for this type of act at this time. I just anticipate a lot of people being disappointed they won't debut at #1.

It's amazing how Fifth Harmony are the only music talent show contestants in recent history that are actually making a dent on the charts. Haven't heard anything from the rest of the X-Factor contestants, American Idol and The Voice...

That's very disappointing for Dylan. At least he's getting another top 3 album in the UK, possibly a #1 even.

You will not find a more passionate online fanbase than the one possessed by these girls. Umm, the Directioners say hi. 5H are not at the level of 1D or even 5SOS yet. Those two fanbases are by far the most powerful of them all. Even with no GP connection they are selling amazingly. And we can't forget about 1D being the most dominant force in fan-voted awards. If you have a fanbase like 1D or 5SOS you don't need the general public to succeed. 5H do have a dedicated fan base but it is probably most comparable to Austin Mahone's or where Ariana would be without GP support than anything else. If they want a No. 1 album and some big hits they're going to have to do what Ariana did and win the GP over.

But what distinguishes Fifth Harmony is that after those two weeks when their album drops out of the top 100, what chart presence does Alex & Sierra have? It's Hot 100 performance and even social media presence where it's clear Fifth Harmony comes out on top. How many Hot 100 hits does Alex & Sierra have? NONE. Fifth Harmony has four - that's miles ahead than any X Factor contestant. And the fact that their 2nd album is going to hit top 3 is amazing. Pretty sure the rest of the X Factor contestants will be lucky if they can even release a 2nd album...

But single performance on the other hand, is what distinguishes them. Pope had one hit single, but after that, I don't know what happened. Danielle Bradberry had one top 20 country hit. Fifth Harmony has four Hot 100 hits and counting, and X Factor ended 2 years ago. It's clear that they're at least having some ounce of longevity in the music world.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6465281/taylor-swifts-1989-going-for-11th-week-at-no-1-on-billboard-200 Taylor Swift's '1989' Going for 11th Week at No. 1 on Billboard 200 ChartBy Keith Caulfield | February 05, 2015 8:22 PM EST Taylor Swift's blockbuster 1989 album is heading for an 11th week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart -- tying Swift's own Fearless for the diva's longest-running No. 1 set. Industry forecasters suggest 1989 may move around 95,000-100,000 album equivalent units in the week ending Feb. 8, which should keep the set at No. 1 for an 11th nonconsecutive frame. The top 10 of the new Billboard 200 chart -- which ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption -- will be revealed on Wednesday, Feb. 11. If 1989 clocks another week at No. 1, it will match the chart-topping run of Swift's Fearless, which ruled for 11 weeks in 2008 and 2009. Swift is only the second woman in the history of the Billboard 200 chart to earn two albums with at least 10 weeks at No. 1. Whitney Houston was the first, and she managed the feat three times: with her self-titled debut (14 weeks in 1986), her second album, Whitney (11 weeks in 1987) and The Bodyguard soundtrack (20 weeks in 1992 and 1993). Next week's highest new entry will likely come from the long-running Now That's What I Call Music! series. Sources project Now 53 to debut in the top three with between 85,000-90,000 album equivalent units. Other albums heading for a possible top 10 debut: Fifth Harmony's first full-length album, Reflection (75,000 or so), Diana Krall's Wallflower (40,000-45,000) and Bob Dylan's Shadows In the Night (40,000-45,000).

As I said , Phillip was discovored the same year as fifth harmony. He even had some minor success with Raging fire in 2014 Cassadee managed to rack up songs on the hot 100 during the voice , one of them even peaking at 25 and moving 340k units , which is on par with fifth harmonys hot 100 singles . Her album sold 181k and we don't know if fifth harmony will even reach that mark

So will Now 53 get literally 0 SEA and TEA? 18. "Knock Me Out" Fancy Reagan 20. "Who Are You Loving Now?" Danny Mercer 21. "Hold the Line" Jack & Eliza These are the only songs on Now 53 that would impact TEA/SEA because they aren't already on a release, and they aren't going to be getting any sales/streams that will add up to enough to mean anything.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6465488/fifth-harmony-reflection-top-10-debutFifth Harmony's 'Reflection' Racing Toward Top 10 DebutBy Keith Caulfield | February 06, 2015 8:11 PM EST Also heading for the Billboard 200's top 10: 'Now 53,' Diana Krall & Bob Dylan. While Taylor Swift's 1989 seems set for an 11th week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 next week, there's quite a few new albums winging their way to the top 10. The new Now 53 compilation will likely be the chart's top debut, as industry prognosticators project it will shift 85,000-90,000 equivalent album units in the week ending Feb. 8. (As for Swift's 1989, it could move around 95,000-100,000.) The Billboard 200 chart ranks the week's most popular albums based on their overall consumption. That overall unit figure combines pure album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Billboard 200's top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, Feb. 11. Fifth Harmony's debut full-length album, Reflection, seems primed for a start in the top five, with around 75,000 units. The quintet previously earned a top 10 with their first EP, Better Together, which debuted and peaked at No. 6 on the Nov. 9, 2013-dated chart. The new album is supported by the act's first top 40 hit single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, "Sledgehammer." Be on the look out for significant gains in the top 10 by holdover albums like Ed Sheeran's x and Sam Smith's In the Lonely Hour. Both artists are nominated for multiple trophies on this Sunday's (Feb. 8) Grammy Awards, and are performing on the show. The Awards will be broadcast by CBS at 8 PM (live on the east coast). Even though Sunday is the final day of the Billboard 200 chart's tracking week, there could still be sizable digital sales gains registered in the last few hours of Sunday (while the Awards are in progress). Two more albums might arrive in the top 10: Diana Krall's Wallflower and Bob Dylan's Shadows in the Night. They both could move between 40,000-50,000 units.
