The Swedish guy with the unpronounceable name and the winning mix. And what a great performance, almost amazingly studio-version perfect. Plus great special effects. A winner for sure.
As for the Cypriot song, it is a true piece of gem which for some reason I may be listening to for years and years from now. I don't know why they discount Cypriot entries although many are so beautiful. By the way, do you know that BOTH Cat Stevens and George Michael are Cypriots!!!! Now that's something.
Maraaya of Slovenia, such a breath of fresh air (except for the earphones though..) . A great song with a mix of crazy playing. Wow. Go girl! This is a winner as well.
And Monika (Poland). You are stunning and beautiful as ever.

Looking forward for the results for final 10.
And yes, almost all Big Six (Austria, UK, France, Spain, Italy, Australia) songs are big, except probably for German one, as they didn't send the actual winner Andreas Kümmert
And Italy may win all, you know...

The final 10 from today Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Norway, Poland, Slovenia, Sweden
They will compete with final 10 from semi-final 1: Albania, Armenia, Belgium, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Romania, Russia, Serbia.
Plus the automatically qualifying seven: Austria (organizers of event, winners last year), Australia (special invitee for this year) and the Big Five (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK)
So a total of 27 countries for the final on Saturday.
Overall, this year had very strong performances and truly good songs, or so I think.

Few thoughts—
Macedonia's performance was a mess, which is a shame 'cause I really loved the song. Albania's performance wasn't too good, but she did get hit the money note(s). I still think Russia is gorgeous and fairly competent despite the song being cheesy (the message is quite ironic coming from Russia). She looks like Dianna Agron. Serbia was pretty awesome, but the song loses its magic in English. Still really like Azerbaijan, very emotive performance. Romania's song was quite nice too, lovely language. Slovenia was pretty neat.
I really hope Sweden doesn't win.

You may watch it now on www.eurovision.tv if you download their program. But it is also available on YouTube at www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQETFB4jV_A This is without commentaries, which may be better for you to concentrate on your own taste rather than what local annnouncer has to say.

I'm excited, especially since, once again, I've managed to wait till the final without having heard any of the entries.
I hope the show is great.

60th anniversary issue is very strong. Just listen to the first four, Slovenia, France, Israel and Estonia. Four solid songs and impressive stage performances. Wow.
UK is just gorgeous and Armenia truly impressive and beautiful rendition. And let me not start with how adorable I find the Lithuanian duo, followed by Serbia's big woman a la Malta's memorable Chiara Siracusa.
And now another adorable couple from Norway... folowed by Sweden's Måns Zelmerlöw, the darling of everybody and possible winner this year with a name nobody knows how to pronounce. But what a great song.
I loooove the Cyprus song. Then introducing Australia's hunky Guy, a first appearance for Australia as a country. And how about the amazing and impressive young talent Loic Nottet from Belgium! I just love this fellow's performance.
First I didn't like Greece's sog. But Maria has grown on me as i watch her more and more.... And now MY favourite: Montenegro's Knez. BRING BACK NATIONAL LANGUAGES FOR EUROVISION. Enough with English for everybody.
Germany is good, but they should have sent the actual winner Andreas Kümmert instead. And Poland's Monika just beautiful on stage on a wheelchair. Latvia's Aminata, wow (reminds me of Loreen from Sweden, winner a some time back)
And now two more of my absolute favourites: Romania's Voltaj and Spain's Adurne, both in their won national languages rather than generic English.
And now the ones, as a grande finale!!! Fabulous Azerbaijan, Russia and Italy. This is a great 60th edition regardless of winner.

Mind you, after this I'll go back to not caring about Guy at all (never really liked him that much tbh) but I've gotta rep for my country and truth be told he DID deliver the goods.

Watching the summary of the performances, this edition of Eurovision is truly powerful and impressive, one of the best in recent years.

So glad Sweden pulled it out in the end. Polina seemed so sweet, but I could not handle Russia hosting Eurovision next year.

I am so happy that Måns Zelmerlöw won! I have been a fan of him for a few years now after a friend introduced me to him when he released his first album.

Nul points NO POINTS WHATSOEVER from all voting countries COMBINED is a Eurovision tradition of great importance. See all the "nul pointers" here as a great tribute and sort of shrine: www.nulpoints.net/halloffame.htmCelebrating the coveted and intriguing "nul points" this year are interestingly enough the organizers Austria's The Makemakes with "I Am Yours" and one of the Big 5 Germany with Ann Sophie's "Black Smoke". This is the first time the host country gets zero zilch by the way. The last time a song got "nul points" before this was UK's infamous Jemini in 2003 exactly 12 years ago! This is the dreadful off key performance of their song "Cry Baby" Before Jemini, we have to go back another 5 years to 1998 for the Swiss entry Gunvor with "Lass' ihn" with her "nul points"

Germany's song which got "nul points" was not even the winner of the country!
The actual winner was this singer Andreas Kümmert winner of Germany's The Voice with "Heart of Stone". He actually got 78.7% of votes to represent Germany against Ann Sophie's 21.3%
And still they sent Sophie because Andreas withdrew after saying he was too nervous and didn't want to take part in Eurovision.
Here is Andreas Kümmert. Would he get nul points just the same? And has Sophie now regretted accepting to go to Eurovision?

Plus, the reality is that ugly, older men usually don't do well at Eurovision. Andreas is actually very young, but he really isn't a looker. But in general, it's better to send a pleasantly looking package to Eurovision. I think the problem with "Black Smoke" is that while it's a decent song, it just doesn't make the listener feel anything that would make people pick up the phones. Ultimately, even if she got a few points, it wouldn't change the reality that this year a relatively small number of countries sucked up the majority of all points available.

'Coveted' is the LAST word I'd use to describe nul points. Nobody wants to be completely and utterly ignored by the entirety of Europe, and they certainly wouldn't covet the possibility.

Let's say then at least that it is a great achievement to reach the final and be so bad you get "nul points" from more than 40 national panels of voters combined, on live television watched by tens of millions of viewers.
A classmate of mine said he would take pride in each and every perfect zero grade he got on an exam, adding that he would be greatly disappointed if he had gotten a passing grade in a test. That would be so lame he added like being in the middle somewhere, whereas it takes real balls getting a zero. To his credit, he was an extremely likable and popular student and center of attention, like a class superstar, and he went on to become one of the most successful classmates I've ever known.

I think overall this year was very lackluster. There was no real standout performer or song to me, it all just sort of melted together into a continous run of overly sappy ballads and mediocre midtempos.

Love the stage-play and the background from Mans! Perhaps the best thing off his performance :)
