I dont think their formula makes any more or less sense than Billboard. Why set the standard at 12 tracks for what constitutes an "album"? Albums with fewer tracks have less to lose from the downweighting of the singles. Why base it only the standard edition? What happens if there is a re-release? Do the additional re-release tracks count for nothing?

Hmm that re-release question is interesting.. Will they determine after the re-release that IS the standard version? Just like what they did with Lady Gaga's The Fame when Monster came out.
