This is a great album - front to back. Love it from the album cover to every last song. It was a disappointment sales wise as it only sold about a 1/3 of what "Faith" did. That said, this is a gorgeous album. There isn't another word for it; okay, maybe "lush".
1. "Praying for Time" 2. "Freedom! '90" 3. "They Won't Go When I Go" 4. "Something to Save" 5. "Cowboys and Angels" 6. "Waiting for That Day" 7. "Mother's Pride" 8. "Heal the Pain" 9. "Soul Free" 10. "Waiting (Reprise)"
Love all the songs, particularly Praying for Time, Cowboys and Angels and Mother's Pride.
If you've never heard Cowboys and Angels, give it a try...
25 years later and I'm still waiting for Volume II

This album was more of an aritstic statement by George after the more commercial Faith album, but it still could've sold better. "Freedom! 90" was a better choice for lead single imo.
I love "Waiting For That Day" and yes "Cowboys and Angels" is a great song. Thanks for reminding me of it, I had not listened to it in a long time.

Too many ballads/slow songs, even though they are great like Praying For Time, I much prefer Faith due to its tempo.

I love this album. And loved "Older" even more.

I've really grown to love this album. So many fantastic songs here. Hoping the rerelease rumors in 2017 are true. This album deserved better.

I listened to this once a few years back but never revisited it until after his passing. "Cowboys and Angels" and "Heal the Pain" are incredible but I'd still take Faith over Prejudice any day.

What happened to volume 2? Funny you asked this because I've recently become obsessed with the supposed Vol. 2.
From what I have gathered:
Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 2 was supposed to follow Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1 in June of 1991. It was always supposed to be the "up-tempo" equivalent to its parent album. I'm guessing GM was a bit behind on final touches to the songs as it appears he had completed 5-7 of the up-tempo songs prior to the legal action he took against Sony in October of 1992. There is an article in Billboard from October 12, 1991 which states the album would contain "5 live tracks and 7 studio tunes." The article mentions the then upcoming duet with Elton John "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" which they were shooting the video for. Billboard
I personally think what happened is that GM wasn't ready to issue the album so they decided to place the songs he had already recorded with the songs that would eventually become the Five Live EP. At this time, the label was not happy with the commercial performance of Vol. 1, the delay of Vol. 2 and GM's refusal to do basic promo for the record.
So, 1992 comes along and still no Vol. 2 album but in the meantime "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me" reaches No. 1 on Billboard. In order for Sony not to release Vol. 2 without his blessing, George took three of the already recorded songs ("Too Funky," "Do You Really Want To Know" and "Happy") and donated them to the charity project album Red, Hot + Dance. "Too Funky" is released as a single from the project with the B-side "Crazyman Dance" which was also one of the songs slated for Vol. 2. GM also recorded "Fantasy" for the project but threw that song onto the B-side of his single "Freedom! '90." GM obviously loved "Fantasy" as he remixed it in 1998 and released it on the single for "Outside." I don't blame him, it slays.
George then files his lawsuit against Sony in October of 1992 to get out of his contract and things begin to unravel even more. Obviously the label was not happy with the legal action taken against them.
He had moved on from all of it though by the end of '92/early '93 as he had begun work on Trojan Souls but stopped that project when his lover died of AIDS and his mother then also passed away shortly after. Hence why '96's Older is so sombre in tone.
I have done some digging and put together my own version and here it is. I know it's not legit but I love it! Yes, it's not as good as Vol. 1 but it's pretty consistent and the subject matter of the songs touch on AIDS, homelessness and safe sex awareness. All important issues at the time and still to this day. I even modified Vol. 1's cover and changed the hue to blue to make it more cohesive with the first.
Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 2
