I saw the iTunes all-genre songs chart have as many as 17 country tunes, the days after country night on Idol. The most I've ever seen on there. Average is 7-8 country songs.
It was a sight to behold!

Blake Lewis sang it on Idol.
(Lakisha Jones sang "Jesus, Take the Wheel.")

Keep in mind that both Hot AC and AC stations have boosted the amount of country music they've been playing, and the Hot AC format in particular.
Those two formats as well as country have TONS of adults and baby-boomer listeners who may or may not watch 'AI', but certainly LOVE Martina, Carrie, Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw and other country artists whom top 40 radio won't touch, with VERY few exceptions.

I'm sure NRTMN is on the chart, but only the top 50 is posted weekly + a few bonus numbers. You can try requesting bks to post the DCX numbers on the Hot 100 thread in the Music News section :)

I just finished listening to Pam's album as a friend of mine was able to find it in town and I must say it's great. Only 2 songs I really don't care for but otherwise just a great album from Ms. Tillis.

So Carolina Rain can't even sell 750 albums a week? They aren't getting promoted in stores, I suppose, or maybe all the albums that were shipped when Get Outta My Way was in the top 40 have been returned to the warehouse. I would think that 750 a week would be achievable as a modest goal.
And Craig Morgan's sales aren't very good, considering how much exposure he's had and how many top 10 songs he's enjoyed. How can Aldean sell so many and Morgan sell so few?
Just two among the many things I don't understand.

Zazie it could have to do with many things including shipments, promo, who they are touring with, etc.
Jason has been touring with Rascal Flatts so that must have helped sales some plus "Why" was a huge hit. Craig should get a boost with his new single "Tough".
I wish Emerson Drive had sold more but their album was released when "A Good Man" was just top 30. If they released "Moments" first it would've likely been top 10 when the album was released and they probably could've sold 30,000 in the first week of release. Also their album is probably hard to find in stores right now.

As an aside, I visit quite a few fanboards and just wanted to clear up some misconceptions that I've seen, since I think quite a few members from there lurk here.
Fallacy: iTunes sales are not counted by SoundScan. Fact: iTunes sales ARE indeed counted by SoundScan and are included in the numbers posted here. If a song is purchased individually, the sale is included in the single sales numbers. If the whole album is purchased, it is included in the album sales numbers.

Fact: iTunes sales ARE indeed counted by SoundScan and are included in the numbers posted here. If a song is purchased individually, the sale is included in the single sales numbers. If the whole album is purchased, it is included in the album sales numbers. That's what I had figured. However, what if someone purchases all but one song on an album? If an album has x songs, would these be counted a x - 1 transactions; i.e. since the entire album was not purchased all of the songs would be counted as individual single sales? If you have an album that has only 1 track that you skip over, that's a pretty dam.n good album! I would think that often times, people listen to hear which songs they actually like and more often than not only download half or maybe 3/4 of the songs. While this is a great tool for music fans that provides flexibility and value, it detracts from artists album sales. Let's be real here, I think for most people and most artists' albums, if a person buys the entire album they're not gonna love every song. I think there should be a rule in place--if at least half an album is purchased, then it should count as a full album sale. However, if these songs are not all purchased simultaneously, then it may be hard to track all of the "half purchases" to count those towards the album sales. It will be really interesting to see what album sales figures look like during the next decade.

Bad news, it looks like we will no longer be getting the sales numbers for the indie albums. Nielsen SoundScan has "discovered" the site where we get the info. According to IndieHQ:

Yikes. That is not good. I'm surprised they haven't warned this site yet since so much Soundscan sales data gets posted here by various sources and individuals.

What about the "big chart" sales data? When will that go? Is someone posting that info here with permission or is that "leaked info" as well? I gotta have my sales numbers!!! :o

All the hard-numbers data we get is leaked info -- concert ticket sales, album sales, single sales. There was actually a scare already with the Top 200 numbers (or "big chart" data, as you call it) last year when Nielsen SoundScan cracked down on a lot of sites posting the info (including even carriefans.com). There were a few weeks here on Pulse where no one was "leaking" the data because the situation was "hot." Even now, it's not a sure thing that we'll get the numbers every week. That's why we get it in various formats and sometimes incomplete, like last week.
