Garth sold out all NINE concert dates in Kansas City, MO yesterday. I don't know how quickly they went (under 5 minutes I think), but hopefully someone will issue a press release so we'll know. I think it's record setting.

www.cmt.com/news/articles/1571344/20071006/brooks_garth.jhtmlGarth Brooks on Saturday (Oct. 6) sold out nine concerts at Kansas City's Sprint Center, a new arena designed to seat approximately 18,000 people. Brooks initially scheduled a Nov. 14 concert in Kansas City to thank Wal-Mart for its efforts in marketing his music in recent years, but tickets were made available to the public and went on sale Saturday morning. When the Nov. 14 concert sold out immediately, tickets to the other eight performances went on sale one-by-one until Brooks' previous obligations prevented him from adding another date. The additional shows, taking place Nov. 5-12, sold out in just under two hours. Brooks' new CD/DVD package, The Ultimate Hits, goes on sale Nov. 6. Brooks has rarely performed since announcing his retirement in 2000. Elton John is scheduled to perform at the Sprint Center's grand opening on Oct. 13.

First of all, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's the first time I've seen Martina have $10 tickets as a headliner. I assume this particular instance is because these concerts were recorded for a special and they wanted full houses?
Second, I know some here have attended her concerts. Does she have a major sponsor (like Ford for Toby, Hersheys for Brad, etc.)? 'Coz I'm sure Martina's guarantee has to be at least $200,000 per show. She's covered, but how is Police Productions making money here? Most basic computation, they paid Martina at least 400,000 for 2 nights and the concerts only grossed 139K.

It turns out Martina's guarantee is $250,000. Other acts: Gretchen Wilson - $150,000 Sugarland - $100,000 Joe Nichols - $40,000 ( Source) I realize the flat guarantee may differ depending on the venue and other factors and that there may be some instances where the acts get percentages instead, but this is just to give an idea.

The lawn section was just body-to-body! I don't see how they could have squeezed more people in there. I was guessing about 12,000 in attendence. Hee hee, way off!

Wow, you're not kidding. And I suspect they thought it would do better by the size of the arena. At less than 20% capacity, it had to look empty. I would be interested in reading a review from this concert. I would have expected this to do better than that.

Nov 2 is less than a week since the devastating fires around San Diego. I suspect the people there were preoccupied. Wow, you're not kidding. Wouldn't they have sold more tickets than that though? The numbers are tickets sold and not attendance, right?

I would be interested in reading a review from this concert. I couldn't find a review for this San Diego concert, but the comments on this Wichita Falls concert review indicate that there was a low turnout there too. All the concert reviews that I've seen so far are great. Seems it's just the turnout that's been disappointing, which is unfortunate. I really gotta give props to those who can consistently sell lots of tickets -- Kenny, George, Rascal Flatts, Tim & Faith, Keith, Brad, etc.

Sugarland's tour seems to be very hit and miss. Some dates filling up, while others fail miserably. Texas and California dates are proof of it. They have only sold out two whole shows I believe. One being in New York City and I want to say the other just sold out this week for a date in Michigan in a few weeks. I hate seeing this because they are amazing live. Hopefully things will pick up, it seems with some dates the venues they've choosen to do the shows in is too big. I know with some dates they've done on their own prior to this tour, have sold out or have come very close to it. Those shows were in theaters. Maybe they should have stuck to that instead of throwing in small arenas.

Yeah, I think they'll be able to fill up small arenas in another 2 years or so, after they have some hits from their third album. It's tough to sell out the venues they're playing at when they only have two albums out.
