Up to #5 on iTunes country...I'm really loving this. Along with some of Chris' old stuff, he really has a redneck feel that country is missing right now. Can't wait to hear more.

As for sabre14's last post, I read about the first part of the story a couple weeks ago. The second part is hilarious at the end. Chris Janson and Kenny Rogers should do a Buy Me A Boat/Buy Me A Rose mashup.

I knew about the Bobby Bones airplay and the fact that Chris and his wife threw it on iTunes but I didn't know that he was so reluctant to even take a promotional photo for "Buy Me A Boat". The original photo on the first page of this thread, is just Chris looking off to the distance on the back of his truck that was taken from his daughter's phone, lol. Success comes when you least expect it. :)

The vocals and feel of this song remind me of Blake Shelton's "Ol' Red" in parts, primarily the verses.

I still haven't heard any local stations play it, but Pandora's already given it to me twice now. Good stuff.

I wonder if there will be a 2nd video? After all, the main reason that CMT decided to step up and do the video was because Chris was unsigned. Well, lo and behold, not long after CMT announced they'd fund the video, Chris got picked up by Warner Bros. I wouldn't be totally surprised if there was a 2nd official video released sometime in the next couple of months--or maybe just in time for the 4th of July weekend or something like that.

Ha, that's what I was hoping someone would say! I'm actually expecting that as well. The video was just not very good, lol. I'm hopeful we'll get another video sooner rather than later. I know a good music video isn't the end of the world (especially when the song is this good) but come on now, that was really weak, lol.

^ That is a really creative and well-done ad. It definitely highlights what a great success story this single is for all parties involved.

I don't get the hype of this.
This song is good, but IMO, it isn't great. Sounds like Thomas Rhett with much better song-writting.

Everybody dreams of being rich. I'm sure most of us have fantasized about what we would buy with our money if we had ever stumbled upon a win-fall. Plus this song is insanely catchy and fits the summer season great. That's why there's hype and that's why it's selling great. The OTV program have helped sustain those initial sales but iHeartMedia saw an opportunity to score big with their selection and decided to actually take advantage of listener reaction with their program, which will be much easier for me to live with in regards to the selection process, rather than throwing a dart at the board, which I was wondering was their actual way of determining these.

Oh now, I get it. This is miles better than "Kiss You In the Morning" lyrically, at least.

Westwood One (W1MC) finally added "Buy Me A Boat" this week which has resulted in 1.7 million of its audience on MB. It seems like it took forever for them to add Chris' song, lol.

Chris has a new song on iTunes called "outlaw ways". I can only hope this is on his album. It sounds really good and neo trad. Don't let the title fool you.
I find myself getting more eager for his album. So glad this guy is finally breaking out. His 2 EPs are stellar and he puts on a great live show. He's a nice enough feller too. I wouldn't mind at all if he gets to B or A list status. I just hope he can find the balance to keep momentum going

"Buy Me A Boat" becomes Chris Janson's first top 10 single this week, landing at #10 on MB.
This song increased another 445 spins and 3.5 million on MB this week and is selling like gangbusters as its currently #3 on the Country iTunes chart and #28 on the all-genre chart. There's no way this misses #1 and as was pointed out when this was first selected for "On The Verge", this was a home run pick by iHeartMedia.

The Highway on Sirius/XM has not added this song yet... They can't get enough of "Dance With Ya" though.

So you guys are gonna love this. Chris Janson just sic'd one of his lawyers on me via Facebook regarding his Wikipedia article. Threatening a cease and desist over the fact that the article included the names of his children (even though said names were verified by several other sources) and the inclusion of the fact that he cut two duets with Holly Williams in 2009 (?!?). Not cool, Chris, not cool.

It's happening with Shane McAnally at the same time. He's trying to re-arrange his article and scrub any mention of his debut album or "Are Your Eyes Still Blue" (an excellent song by the way), and so far that's only turned into a couple admins warning the person editing on his behalf not to do that. But neither that one, nor my tangle with Chris Lindsey a couple years ago (polite exchange of dialogue followed by him storming off), escalated into one of their reps tracking me down on Facebook and sending legal threats.
At least I did my best to remain calm, and explain to them that, while nothing in the article seemed to run afoul of Wikipedia policies, attempting to police the content of an article does run afoul. (This appears to be the same person who kept trying to blank the information out of Janson's article and got a block for it.) I also explained that I would seek further assistance from both his people and Wikipedia's.

It's too bad that Chris won't be able to get his album out there in the next month or so, now that this one is close to peaking (BMAB looks like a surefire #1 in a few weeks). This one has only been on the chart for 17 weeks; it climbed about as fast as an A-lister's song does (initially boosted by OTV, of course), and with Chris not even signing with Warner Bros. until late spring, that just didn't give him enough time to finish the album. I know he's been working really hard and he's had a lot of meetings with the label, but it's just unfortunate that Chris won't have an album out there as "Buy Me A Boat" ascends to #1. Last I heard, Chris was thinking the album would come out shortly before Thanksgiving.

Saw him in concert last night and I 'think' he said October something (the sound in the bar was unfortunately not good-it was even difficult to hear his lyrics)-so it seems they are moving this up a little.

They're basically done and that's still enough time to get a release in late October (which isn't far from the Thanksgiving date). It'll be interesting to see if radio jumps on the follow-up single as quickly.

It'll be interesting to see if radio jumps on the follow-up single as quickly. They won't jump on it nearly as quickly, but hopefully many stations will jump on it pretty quick. Actually, I think Warner Bros' best bet would be to not give Chris' 2nd single an adds date until early/mid October...that would allow stations to still keep "Buy Me A Boat" in pretty heavy rotation (even after it goes recurrent) for much of September. The last 2 Fridays in October are the 23rd and the 30th, so I'm hoping they can get the album out on one of those dates.
