I've been hearing this more on the radio lately, and man are the lyrics cringe-worthy here, especially the bridge: "I can see you gettin' my tailgate rockin' Moving your hips like the wind moves cotton You can get the whole wide countryside hoppin'" I literally feel some second-hand embarrassment for Cole when he's singing those lines. They are just so awkward, especially if you try to make a mental image of those lines.. I do think this will probably be a #1 or #2, though.

I think that Cole's bro-country doesn't bother me as much because he has a warmer voice than most of his contemporaries, and even with Michael Carter's atrocious production, he seems to come across just that much more personable to my ears even if he's rehashing the same tailgate beer clichés.

I feel fairly confident in this hitting #1. Let's see ZBB this week followed by Frankie, Sam, Dustin, Thomas, Chris, Keith, Brett, Kenny, FGL and probably Luke Bryan's new one since I don't see Chase Rice, Maddie & Tae and Eric Church hitting the top. Cole's only competition when it looks to peak might be Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton.
As for this song it's grown on me. Cole sounds best when he breaks down and loosens up. Cole truly seems like he's having fun and the bridge he sounds like he's having a blast. It's a shame that the lyrics though are rather cringe inducing at times. But I'm curious to see what Cole does in his sophomore album.

I think Cole's got one of the weakest voices in the genre and his material has been bland and forgettable so far.
The lyrics in this song are laughably bad. My father thought the song was hilarious when he first heard the chorus lyrics.

It's right up there with Get me Some of That, like hell no you aren't going to see me do a DAMN THING in the back of your truck. Take your leering creepy self elsewhere. Peace.

Cole isn't someone I get vehement about the way I do about some other artists. His stuff is horribly bad, but it's at least laughably bad. I mean, this guy is so trying so damn hard to be Luke Bryan Jr. and the results are just hilarious. I mean seriously, "bring the beat back"?!? It's hard to imagine that this guy is already on his way to his third No.1 (4 if you're counting Mediabase). I mean he's just so vanilla, there's no charisma, no originality, just bleh efforts.

The truth is though that his singles are speaking to the 18-30 year old party/weekend warrior crowd (especially college students). Obviously that doesn't include everyone, but he's definitely tapping into a market (same one that Thomas Rhett is working now). As for my thoughts, the lyrics suck but hot damn is this song catchy and just plain fun. It's the kind of song that you may not be big on, but then one day you walk into a loud bar just blaring this and you just vibe well with it. Cole's real test will be album #2: can he keep up the momentum and make a strong identity for himself?

Cringe-worthy is too nice of a term to describe this excruciating song, and it's simply bankrupt from an originality standpoint, and certainly impossible to listen to even in today's dishearteningly bad country music landscape.

I was just looking through this thread and some of your comments reminded me of something I read on Cole a while back. Basically, what I took away from the article is that Cole isn't much into girls and so if some of his lyrics seem just a bit out of touch, it's because he can't really relate to what he's writing. I may agree that if you look at the lines on paper some girls may find them offensive, but the song isn't meant to be taken that seriously. I'm not here to "endorse" the lyrics but this was really just meant to be catchy, fun radio fodder. (And yes, I know you can have fun, catchy songs without incorporating crude lyrics.) I can't quite relate to Carrie's desire to punch Cole in the face, since he just seems so harmless and innocent. It's almost like Cole doesn't realize what he's saying. Keep in mind Cole also wrote "Get Me Some of That," so I may have an idea of where the "problem" is coming from here. If someone like Cole were to walk up to me in a bar and say these things to me, I personally can't imagine myself being too infuriated, and I certainly wouldn't get physically violent with someone who didn't lay a hand on me. If anything, I just find these lyrics to be kind of funny. I might laugh if someone were to approach me in this manner. Of course, everyone reacts differently to these sorts of pick-up lines and I fully respect that some may be offended by this song. I'm not saying anyone shouldn't or can't be offended, but it'd be impractical for every song to have lyrics that are perfectly inoffensive to 100% of the population. I'm sure just about every song can offend someone somewhere. This may not be remembered as one of Cole's bigger hits like dm2081 noted, but when your first three singles smash as big as Cole's did it's hard to follow them up with a fourth single that has just as much staying power. It'll be interesting to see if Cole interferes in the "train" of songs Sony is trying to push to #1 in a row. Cole just barely got passed by Carrie and Old Dominion before entering the Top 10, and now he's staying close behind them. (He's even got more spins than Carrie and OD on the Mediabase building chart for this week.) I imagine Warner may end up pushing Cole back ahead of one or two of these songs.

I'm not saying anyone shouldn't or can't be offended, but it'd be impractical for every song to have lyrics that are perfectly inoffensive to 100% of the population. I'm sure just about every song can offend someone somewhere. First of all, I'm positive carriekins was using hyperbole when saying she wanted to punch Cole in the face. I'm sure she doesn't have the true desire to punch Cole but it was her way of using exaggeration to get her point across of how crude she thinks the lyrics of "Let Me See Ya Girl" are. I mean I don't know, I understand your points and there's millions of folks across North America who probably don't think twice about these song's lyrics but there's just so many better ways to express one's love or affection for someone than the lyrics within this song...whether they're upbeat or ballad. I know the lyrics in "Let Me See Ya Girl" aren't meant to be taken 100% literally but I grew up in a rural area and the lyrics of these songs just aren't a good representation of what I experienced growing up -- that's why I personally don't enjoy them, and the exhausting amount of them the past few years just added insult to injury. Don't get me wrong, I did have girls riding shotgun on dates but I sure as didn't have them shake and dance in flatbed of a pickup truck, nor would I ever desire to put that down as a lyric in a song I'm writing. Everyone has different experiences and I'm sure people like Cole had fun on weekend nights doing some of the stuff in these songs. I did not, however and I'm sure I'm not alone. I don't think anyone would seriously get physical with someone who said these things as a pickup line in a bar either (or at least nothing described as "violent"); the woman would probably just laugh in the guys face and say "haha, better luck next time buddy."

It's "Get Me Some of That" part II. I really don't see much of a difference. Bro, bro, bro. Hey girl, hey girl, hey girl. This guy is actually talented, as songs like "Ain't Worth The Whiskey" and "Dozen Roses and a Six Pack" show. I agree 100%. I thought that this should maybe be called "Get Me Some More of That". I also agree that "bring the beat back" comes off a bit silly.

Cole Swindell just passed Carrie Underwood. I don't know if I like that or not (not).

www.youtube.com/watch?v=SbQsZxrXrkoTHe next "Down Home Sessions" EP is available for pre-order on iTunes now, with Should've Ran After You being available now. The video has Cole going through each song and giving a bit of a lyrical rundown, pretty cool stuff and all the songs sound pretty tight.

So glad Cole is sticking with his signature sound. I think this EP exceeds last years by far. I find the release date interesting though (Next Friday November 6th). I would think they would release it after "Let Me See Ya Girl" peaks which would probably be in two weeks. Maybe they're hoping the release of the EP can give Cole a boost? Tight race now at the top of the charts.

So glad Cole is sticking with his signature sound. You mean "my god this is the most hamfisted and cluttered production I've ever heard in my life"?

Cole's stuff is pretty heavily produced but his sound hasn't deviated much from his debut album which is awesome. I'm glad he stuck with what was working for him and not follow the R&B trend. I also feel like Cole is one of the few can pull off the heavy production well. It's just his style and he does it well, so he can get away with it. I wouldn't say it sounds atrocious either. Perhaps I'm a little biased since I'm a big fan of Cole lol.

Did they throw in the towel on this one? Today's update seems a little too harsh for a song sitting at #2...

Well, Warner might realize that RCA/Sony has the MB and Billboard locked down at this point and might be attempting to curb Cole's numbers in an attempt for the #1 next Sunday. "Let Me See Ya Girl" has been treading water the past three days which leads me to believe they are leveling off this song's airplay numbers. Usually we see a label let go of promotion Sundays and Mondays and rarely see it mid-week, so I think we need another day or two to see what exactly happens here. "Smoke Break" has lost 40 spins and has only gained 400k in total MB audience the past three days itself, so that's something to consider as well.
"Let Me See Ya Girl" is still up nearly 500 spins and 4.5 million in audience on Carrie's song.

Yeah, just as I thought, Warner Nashville really tried to curb "Let Me See Ya Girl's" numbers this week in hopes of topping the charts next weekend. Since losing over 80 spins and 360k in audience on the November 5th update, this one was able to gain back 73 spins and 200k in audience over the past two days. You just don't usually see labels throw the towel in mid-week like that, for songs that are so close to the #1 position. I do remember Stoney Creek calling it quits mid-week with "Close Your Eyes" by Parmalee, when it was clear that they couldn't wait out "Til It's Gone" and "Perfect Storm."

Wow quite an interesting update today. With Old Dominion in freefall mode and Cole in power-up mode. Cole has the #1 spot on the rolling chart. I'd say congrats Cole on the #1 but Chris Young is really starting to charge up his audience. Up almost 800 spins from this time last week but still 400 behind Cole. Going to be interesting to see if Chris can successfully block Cole from the number 1.

This could end up being very close come Sunday morning's update. I'm banking on Sony really putting "I'm Comin' Over" in full throttle from now through the weekend if the past seven days of updates are any indication. Cole's song has only gained 166 spins and 600k in total audience over the past seven days, while Chris has gained over 800 spins and 4.7 million in total audience. The problem was that Warner really inflated "Let Me See Ya Girl's numbers by the time this #1 push came and Sony Nashville looks to have ultimately decided on taking advantage of the opportunity to block them. "I'm Comin' Over" could very well see 400 spins and over 2.0 million in audience increased from now until Sunday, which could spell bad news for "Let Me See Ya Girl."
I'm personally crossing my fingers that Sony/RCA Nashville can pull this off since I really dislike Cole's song and would love to see a song that is the bigger hit get rewarded in the end. I still hate these massive pushes but in this scenario, I'm all for team Chris.

Cole's next single will be "You Should Be Here". This song will hopefully show his true depth as a songwriter and an artist. I hope and believe this song will do very well as a lead off on what I think will be a fantastic sophomore album.

Anywho, I hope the next single is pretty good because "Should've Run After You" is quite solid and would make for a good lead single IMO.

I've had SRAY on repeat since the song has been out. So good. I feel like it would absolutely smash at country radio. I'd be cool if that was the next/lead single but stuff from his Down Home EPs are just extra songs for the fans which is great. Hoping the next/lead single is an absolute smash!
