The bass-line of this song is life.
Radio seems to have an irrational hatred of Janelle, though, so I hope they get over that and spin this song.
Her singles always deserved to be hits, but this one REALLY deserves some love in today's landscape.

That video was hot! I can already imagine people doing these new yoga moves from the video at their yoga classes, starting riots left and right, getting everyone all hot and bothered and shit. The video treatment fuses the camp of "Physical" and the heat of "Sexercise". Janelle looks super sexy.

I adored this! I've seen some of her stuff before and felt it was a little too heavy for me.

Like I said in the other thread, this is a total sell out, but can you blame her? Girl has churned out brilliant, innovative, smart music for years and barely made a blip on radio. She probably knows she needs a hit to keep her name strong enough to get the kind of budgets she wants on her projects.
Besides, if you're going to sell out, even temporarily, it might as well be hot, and this is. The video is kinda lame, though.

I think the style change may be because it's not actually from her own album but rather a compilation from the record company's roster, a la Young Money. I could totally see her producing something like this from that album in order to get her name out there more and then she can come in swinging with a new album right after this smashes with her normal sound. |

Also this is about the 3rd or 4th sound reinvention for her, so to her it could just be a natural progression to do something different and unexpected again. "The Audition", "Metropolis" and "The Electric Lady" are 3 sonically different works. I didn't include "ArchAndroid" since it's a continuation of "Metropolis." I love it.
