Angela Miller and Elliot Yamin.
I also liked Kimberly Locke, Casey James, and Haley Reinhart. I can't remember Vonzell or Jasmine very well, and never saw the first season to judge Nikki.

This is TOUGH!
I really love Kimberley, Vonzell, Elliott, Melinda, Danny, Haley, Joshua, and Angie. The only one I don't like at all is Nikki...
It's a tough group of people to chose from. My top three, though, would be Vonzell, Danny, and Joshua.

With all do respect to Jordin Sparks, Melinda not winning that season was when I felt the show truly started to go downhill. She was in a league of her own.
Elliott, Vonzell, and Joshua were all pretty fantastic too.

Ugh. So many good ones.
Queen Haley rises above the pack, but then you've got Elliott Yamin, Vonzell Solomon, Melinda Doolittle, Angie Miller, Joshua Ledet, and Kimberley Locke, whose debut is as perfect of early 2000s pop as you could find. Syesha Mercado was also great.

Haley Reinhart is a sensational vocalist and has such a great sense of herself, and is beautiful--she's the whole package and I think suffered from coming too late in the Idol game to not have the title of winner to propel her to the attention she needed and deserved. And I'm saying all this without having even seen her season, but her performances have popped up here and there and were impressive, but her album had some real gems on it and her latest cover of Creep is extraordinary.
Elliot Yamin and Melinda Doolittle were phenomenal talents--not as marketable, but the best of their seasons vocally. I have a soft spot for Vonzell Solomon, as well, who was my favorite that year and I think when she was on she was the best, but she was inconsistent and didn't have much star power. Kimberley Locke had a very nice and powerful voice, as well.
Don't remember/know the others.

Vonzell's last 45 seconds on the show was one of the highlights of the entire series. Not only was it the most gracious exit on the show, but perhaps her best vocals, and the shows best ad-libs ever. (voted for her and Elliott)

Angie Miller - Her original song sold me on her artistry and I hope she releases something soon.
Haley Reinhart - Perhaps the best Idol contestant I can remember! She deserved the win IMO and gave me some of the most memorable performances of any season with a wide variety of genres! Her original music is also really good!!!

She sounds absolutely nothing like Fantasia. no of course not, Fantasia'a voice is infinitely more impressive but the poster I was replying to commented on her adlibs in that video and those reminded me of Fantasia. I won't pretend to have seen anything else from Vonzell, but if that video of her is "at he best", then I can see why she lost to Carrie. |

Haley, and no one else on this list even deserves to bask in her presence. Even though I do quite like Elliott and Melinda as well. But Haley is pretty much on a Kelly level of talent as far as I'm concerned. Kelly and Haley would battle it out for all time most talented Idol contestant in my world.
