what determines the call letters? i have always wondered that. W's are for stations east of the Mississippi and K for those west. (I believe that's how it works, anyways.) Not sure if the last three letters have any significance... Thanks, rowdawg. :) Nice to see 2/3 of my local stations on there. WCEN was excluded - probably because of their crappy playlist (to say the least).

WIL is west of the Mississippi, albeit barely.

I'm not going to be home this weekend, so I don't know if I'll be able to update the chart for the next couple of days. Depends if I have internet access.

Would it be useful to you if one of us screencapped or otherwise logged the morning Mediabase updates for the next few days?

I don't think it would really make a difference for me since I'll be back before the end of the chart week. Thanks for the offer though. :)

Hey, guys.
Is there any source that ranks the stations on BDS's panel by audience and by which tends to be most aggressive with its spins? I imagine such stations as WUSN and KPLX are high on the audience list, but I can't find any comprehensive source.
Thanks in advance for any guidance.

I made this chart a couple months ago, but the audiences of the top songs should be about the same right now. This chart shows 96 of the 108 stations on the Billboard panel because I didn't have room for the other 12 on my screen. I could post those numbers if anyone is interested (the missing stations are KATC, WMAD, KEGA, KRST, WFBE, WKXC, KTOM, KXKS, WUSJ, KBUL, WYPY, and WWNU).

Just for kicks, how does WFBE rank? (I can't believe their AI numbers are so low...)

The chart won't display today. It's displaying fine for me. I always make sure it displays when I update it, so if anyone ever has a problem with it, then it's probably on your end.

It is amazing that LA was without a country station for a while and that New York City still doesn't have one!!!

So is anything in the top 20 going recurrent this week? Aren't Brad and Carrie too new?

So is anything in the top 20 going recurrent this week? Aren't Brad and Carrie too new? You're right on Brad and Carrie. This is Brad's last week on the chart, and Carrie has four weeks left. "Every Day" also has one week left. The only song with a small chance at going recurrent is "Another Try." On Mediabase it's only down 59k for the week, so its losses would have to accelerate for it to go recurrent.

Yeah it will be the same on country and probably moreso as country radio probably has a greater catalogue of seasonal tunes to play.

Yeah, Mediabase is definitely down right now. If it's not up within the next half hour or so, I won't be able to update my chart until tomorrow afternoon because I won't have internet access.

^I'm probably jumping the gun here since it's only been a couple of days, but my fear is that its deal with Gannett/USA Today is moving it to a pay-per-view site. (As it originally was with Radio & Records).
When it was tied in with R&R, Mediabase would still let you the view the full chart once a week (even if you weren't a paid subscriber). You just couldn't view the daily updates unless you were a paid subscriber.
To date, USA Today has never posted the full chart. They're only posting the top 10 positions, once a week, in their paper. They say to go to their web site for the full chart. But their web site is only showing the top 30 positions.
So this change could end up being even *worse* than it was before.

I hope we're wrong. ETA: Btw, for those who may not know, you can see an abbreviated Mediabase chart on AllAccess.

Well with the full Mediabase chart gone (for now) and my laptop going in for repair, I think I'll take a break from updating this chart. Hopefully I'll be able to resume the updates in another two weeks or so.
