A month after the Cumulus black helped Lee out, Westwood One comes to this song's aid as "That Don't Sound Like You" is up nearly 2.3 million in total MB audience this week, yet only increasing about 120 spins, lol.

I listened to Bob Kingsley's CT40 for the first time in forever today, and man did this sound terrible...... They didn't play the actual studio version, they played some version that had a bunch of pop beats.....it sounded terrible, like THIS is not a song you infuse Pop into.....but of course we need more pop on country radio Anyone else hear this version?

I forget this one is still charting right now. It already seems like forever since "Drinking Class" peaked.

While it's decidedly irritating that we are now getting poppy remixes of country songs (especially ones that weren't overly country to begin with) that are being sent to country radio, I don't think the remix really changes much. Just a driving beat. It actually adds a nice life to the chorus, in my opinion. For anyone who is interested, you can hear this version on all access.

I actually kind of like this one. I must say about Lee that his songs don't sound like anyone else out there right now. I think he is willing to push the envelope in terms of production, much like Eric Church or ZBB. It sometimes sounds a bit foreign on country radio but I assume that's part of what he's trying to do. And succeeding.

When Lee plays this live, he plays it with the driving "pop" beat that we were discussing above. That makes me think it was his decision (or Curb's decision, and he was completely on board).
Back when I saw him in January, he played it the way it sounds on the record and I remember it not really getting an enthusiastic crowd response. The response was much better with the new version (mostly, I assume, because it's actually a single now...but it did sound a lot more lively).
It's also one of Lee's favorites he has ever recorded so I fully expect them to push this as high as possible, especially since it has now seen decent gains in the past couple weeks.

"That Don't Sound Like You" cracks the MB top 30 this week, at #30. It increased 337 spins and 1.7 million in audience this week and its increased nearly 700 spins and 6.0 million in audience the past three weeks.
At this point, I don't see anyway this one misses the top 10-15 and it most likely makes the top 5. I don't know what Curb did over the 3-4 weeks but whatever it was, it worked. The Cumulus block added this one after the slowish start and that gave it a nice surge into the top 40. Then Westwood One comes to this song's aid and gives it a surge to crack the MB top 30 (it picked up 10 chart spaces in three weeks)...not to mention the nearly 20 new stations this one has gotten the past two weeks.

I didnt notice the change in versions of the song until someone on this thread pointed it out but I like it. I already liked it ok but I have to say I like the newer version better. I'm hearing it quite a bit on the radio now.

I just heard the new version of "That Don't Sound Like You" on the radio and I don't like it at all. The driving backbeat just distracts me. Whoever decided on the new version for radio doesn't matter to me, I just wish they kept the album version, although I do know why they felt compelled to cater to radio's addiction for tempo.

I hear what you're saying. That's kind of the reason why I hate a "pop" remix of anything. Did we have to make it more mindless? However I have to disagree in this case. I originally didn't like this song that much but i do now. When I first heard the original version I remember being distracted by the lack of beat. The drumming, particularly through the first verse before it hits the halftime groove on the chorus, is VERY sparse. So as burned out as I am on "four on the floor" which I have mentioned elsewhere (mourning the demise of backbeat) I think it really helps on this song.

I'm actually starting to think this song is going to be hitting the end of the road as it seems like Lee Brice has been stuck in the 27-29 range for a while now.

Like I thought "That Don't Sound Like You" is nearing the end of the road. This song had one of the most brutal updates so maybe Curb gave up promotion since it was coming quite clear a few weeks ago that this wasn't gonna hit Top 20.

Drinking Class is the Billboard Country Airplay Year End #1. How tragic. That was the song that would never go away. Shame this one couldn't catch on more since it's easily better than "Drinking Class," but I'm still not a fan of this one either, and it's obvious radio hasn't been on board with it, so I do hope that this one is killed off by the end of the calendar year to help free up some more chart space.

I mentioned that because it peaked at #2. Still an unworthy #1 tho

Curb hasn't given up promotion for this one yet as "That Don't Sound Like You" gained 78 spins and 200k in audience today. However, Lee has only gained 58 spins and 180k in audience over the past six days, so this might not last much longer.

Don't know.

^ Doubt that Sirens is going to be single. I also think That Don't Sound Like You is nearing the end of the road. I think the station that's playing that song is probably just sick and tired of That Don't Sound Like You.

I can't see them picking "Sirens", although they were playing it at concerts. Lee's had three songs in a row now with somewhat of a "dark" feel to them (not that they are dark songs, but they have that feel for some reason). I think that's Lee's style. But it wouldn't hurt him at all to have another "Love Like Crazy" or "Woman Like You" at this point to lead off a new album.

I'd like to hear new music from Lee, but Sirens is one of my favorites off the album and could have hit potential.

This song looks to be finally nearing the end of the road. Lee overall this week has had seen a constant struggle with one day gaining then losing so I think radio is about ready to let this song go. I can see this one lasting a few more weeks but I have my doubts that this song can hit the Top 20. While I don't think this song will leave this week it should leave in the next couple of weeks.

Wonder if they're done from this album or not. There's a few good choices for a 4th single but would like to see new material too

Is this song any closer to just giving up. I imagine Lee has new music and this will be a Top 20 this week. I do hope Curb realizes this and gives up on this one.
