At this point I'd imagine the label has lost money on this single. I'm pretty surprised by its poor performance, but it definitely seems time to let this go. It's not going to be a big hit, there's no reason to keep pushing this.

I've actually been hearing this song more on the radio lately. Fine with me because I like it, but I seem to be in the minority on this forum anyway.

I actually really like this one too. It is one of my favorites from Lee so far, and definitely by far my favorite from this era. The guitar work is magnificent.
I am ready for this to leave though... It would be nice to have one of his songs that I enjoy actually disappear before it gets so overplayed that I cannot stand to hear it anymore. That has been the biggest problem of this era. Both "I Don't Dance" and "Drinking Class" are wonderful songs, and both became station changes about the time they reached the top 20 because they climbed so slow. Please do not let this happen to this song, Powers That Be!!!!!

I like the original version of this song...not that re-worked radio version that WYRK spins. The driving backbeat is so annoying.

Ruins the whole song. I actually love this song. It's easily Lee's best song for me. As a matter of fact, it's the only one of his that I even like.

I actually prefer the driving beat honestly. At one point it irritated me that they changed the song to "commercialize it" but I think it adds a new dimension to the song. Lee must have approved because that's the way he plays it live. All that being said, I'm longing for the "Love Like Crazy", "Woman Like You" Lee.

Curb put up a big 'Power Up" ad in Country Aircheck tonight, looking to attempt a top 10 peak. It went for adds on May 11th of 2015... I'm so bloody sick of this song. Make it go away.

I honestly thought this song was ready to peak like 6 months ago, and ever since then it has just felt like an old song getting a bunch of recurrent play to me....

I wonder if this past week was the push week for Lee? If that's the case, they came up just short of the top 10; Lee finished just 0.012 million audience impressions behind Tim McGraw (who checked in at #10) on tonight's Billboard chart.
Maybe Lee can leap ahead of Tim for one week (if Curb pushes enough), but Brett Eldredge probably won't go recurrent for another 2 weeks, and Blake Shelton is only 500k behind Lee, so even if Lee temporarily passes Tim, he'd have to hold off Blake (which seems unlikely) in order to secure a top 10 peak. Thus, I'm thinking that #11 might be as high as this one goes; tonight's chart seems like it was his best chance to eke out a #10 peak.

No. This week the push is still on for Curb Records. "That Don't Sound Like You" will be probably be top 10 on Mediabase this week, since "Beautiful Drug" is going recurrent and I just don't have confidence Stapleton and Morris' songs can hang in with their minimal gains, especially with a label who is hell bent on a top 10 finish on at least one of the two charts (Lee is currently #10 on the rolling chart -- he landed at #13 on MB this past week).

No. This week the push is still on for Curb Records. Well, my last post was before that ad went up! ;) I agree that scoring a Mediabase top 10 peak will probably be easier, but last week was probably his best chance at a #10 peak on Billboard, and he finished just a hair behind Tim. I don't think there will be any recurrents on next Monday's Billboard chart, which means Lee would have to pass Tim AND hold off Blake and any others, and that doesn't seem very likely to me. And while Lee did move up to #10 on this morning's MB update, both Tim and Blake are closing in, and I think we've yet to see the ACM effect on "Humble and Kind". I'm personally expecting some major conversions for Tim in the coming days which could make it very difficult for Lee to hang on to that #10 spot. I get why they included the sales numbers in that ad, but the only reason that this song increased by 210% is because it was sale-priced down to 69 cents on iTunes the last week or two. I'm ready for this one to be done.

That was in Country Aircheck's email if anyone didn't know (which usually comes in during the 5 O'Clock hour). Yikes, I also totally spaced out on "Humble And Kind" -- another reason to root against Lee's song. I've been so done with this one since Christmas.

Beyond ready for new music from him. Hope the wait for a new single isn't as half as long as the chart run for this song.

It'll be interesting to see if Lee can regain some momentum with his next album, or if he'll go down the "Rodney Atkins route". I mean, when you really think about it, you can draw some pretty clear parallels between the two of them. They both had an album that produced 4 really big hits: Rodney's If You're Going Through Hell had the title track, followed by "Watching You", "These Are My People", and "Cleaning This Gun", while Lee's Hard 2 Love produced the hits "A Woman Like You", "Hard To Love", "I Drive Your Truck", and "Parking Lot Party". Each album is easily that artist's best-selling album, too.
But then their follow-up albums didn't do nearly as well. Rodney's It's America produced a low-impact #1 with the lead single/title track, but "15 Minutes" stalled out at #20, and "Chasin' Girls" only peaked at #48. He did get back to #5 with "Farmer's Daughter", which was included on a re-release of the album, but overall Rodney lost a lot of momentum after "Cleaning This Gun".
Lee's "I Don't Dance" was a pretty big hit, but "Drinking Class" took forever to climb, and so has "That Don't Sound Like You". Lee hasn't seen any of his singles peak as low as Rodney's "15 Minutes" and "Chasin' Girls" did, but I definitely think the comparisons are valid.
As we all know, Rodney followed up "Farmer's Daughter" with "Take A Back Road", which went on to become one of the biggest hits of his career. But that was his last big hit.
I expect Lee's next single to be the lead-off from a new album, and I definitely think he can score another big hit provided that it's the right song. But after that it's anybody's guess. I mean, look at what happened with Rodney. His momentum disappeared in the blink of an eye.
Curb's been doing a bit better as of late, but I'm not convinced that they'll have a true A-list artist anytime in the near future. Lee is definitely their flagship artist right now, but he's not an A-lister and I honestly think that his peak probably came with the 1-2-3 punch of "A Woman Like You", "Hard To Love", and "I Drive Your Truck". Again, I do think he can still score some hits, but I don't think he'll get back to the level of popularity that he reached from 2011 into 2013.

I've completely forgotten about this one for months. I was actually very confused when I saw this just outside of the top 10 on last night's Billboard because I had thought it had been long gone for awhile. That's how forgettable this song is - I have read it's name on the chart every week and still forgot it existed... This should have stalled outside the top 20, so I'm a little bummed that it looks to become a top 10 hit.
Lee is particularly good at being a convincing vocalist in his songs. Love Like Crazy, A Woman Like You, Hard to Love, I Drive Your Truck, I Don't Dance all were songs where I could feel Lee's conviction of the song through the way he sang it, but I don't get any of that through this song. Lee himself even sounds bored with this song while singing it. So ironically, Lee, that don't sound like you on this song. I hope his vocal delivery can return on his next single.

Judging by today's update, Curb will try their best to stay ahead of Tim on Mediabase as "That Don't Sound Like You" gained 49 spins and 480k in audience, whereas "Humble And Kind" gained 69 spin and 400k in audience. Maren and Chris are struggling mightily so they don't appear to be in contention at the moment (both Tim and Lee have leaped them on the rolling chart).
The point totals between Lee and Tim have got to be very close (they were separated by just 13 points on MB this past week) and there will be one spot open in the MB top 10 for the taking this Sunday. If this is Lee's last week, it's now or never for a top 10 finish.

It won't be official until later today but it looks like "That Don't Sound Like You" edged out "Humble And Kind" for the #10 spot on Mediabase this week.

I heard this one on ACC today, and it was the original version, i.e. not four-on-the-floor. I haven't heard that since the early days of this chart run (a year ago).

"That Don't Sound Like You" is top 10 on both Mediabase and Billboard Airplay this week. And judging by the ad in Aircheck's afternoon email today, Curb isn't done pushing this song. The song's testing great and radio is willing to keep this in heavy rotation I guess, so the push continues for Curb and "That Don't Sound Like You"...

I really like Lee Brice (to be honest I liked him more before this album, which I digest as a bit dark) but sheesh is it time to move on. I remember I saw him live in January 2015 and he said this would be the next single. And even at that point I had already been listening to it on my own. Ready to move on, unfortunately.

Of course, they conveniently left out the fact that the only reason the sales have surged is because the song has been on sale for just 69 cents on iTunes for the last 3 weeks... I don't blame Curb for continuing to push this (it's their only big hit right now, and the faulty "research" says listeners like it), but I think it's pretty clear that most listeners do not, in fact, care for this 44-week-old song. And an argument can be made that radio isn't particularly fond of this one, either. After all, if they were really such big fans of this one, it wouldn't have needed 40+ weeks to crack the top 10.. Prior to the iTunes sale, this one had one of the worst sales-to-spin ratios on the entire Billboard chart. And even now that it's sale-priced, the sales are average at best.

Jesus christ, I sure hope this doesn't end up charting through the entirety of my school year (which started on August 24, and ends June 1).

If it makes you feel better, the first #1 of my high school years was Dolly Parton's Tennessee Homesick Blues. I'm sure that was off the charts by the time I graduated in June, 1988.

It looks like Lee's song has hit a wall. "That Don't Sound Like You" has lost 54 spins and over 800k in audience the past three days. I wouldn't be surprised (I know, it's Curb, and yes they've had an ad for this in Aircheck's email the past week) if the label gives this one up this week.

Thank god this is about done. I loved it for the first 40 listens but the next 200 from radio it wore off. Lee is one of my favorite artists, and am definitely looking forward to some new music.

Add my name to the list of those of us who want this one to go bye-bye; a mere 8 points separated him from Blake Shelton this week FWIW.
He lost another 25 spins on Sunday which isn't much so this might be done; we should know for sure real soon.

Looks like the label is still going with this song as Lee Brice had an add in Country Aircheck. Seriously this song needs to just die, this is almost as painful as "Little Bit Of You" chart run at the end.
