Hard to believe if this was a hit in the US it would be her first in nearly 7 years. She'd basically be a brand new artist to a lot of teens. Sheesh, I'm starting to feel old.

Like this...although there could be more production tension on the verses to make the hook lead up explode more

I think it's extremely poor.
I can see what they were trying to do.
But it's like it's the same twelve seconds of the song, on loop. Which made the song feel like it was going on for an eternity. The hook just isn't very strong. Almost like it's an early sketch for a demo that they're gonna flesh out later. That melody is just...weak. A non-event, masquerading as 'a moment'.
The video is like a good version of a bad Kelly Clarkson video.
(Vocals are dope).

Really loving it. Was a bit apprehensive after hearing it for the first time, but it gets better and better with each listen *_* The video is nice - should do its job but it's nothing amazing. The hooks of the song certainly get stuck in my head and really LOVE the ending. Really hopeful Leona will have a hit with this!

Really good song, I like it, I'm just not "OMG! This is IT!" It reminds me of Adele, and I'm thinking...aren't they a little late with that sound? Anyway, I hope it's the big hit she needs to put her back on the map. Vocals are FIRE (no pun intended). Definitely one, if not the most vocal-driven single of the year.

I think that's going to be the real big selling point. I can see this song translating extremely well live (well it already has done in the low quality performance recorded a couple weeks ago). She got the crowd clapping along, played the piano, had great stage presence etc. And that's the thing I am LOVING about Leona so far this era is her confidence and presence. She seems so passionate and fired up about her new music - I've never seen this side of Leona before and really hope it'll help quell the constant "she has no personality, she's just a puppet, has no contribution" comments. She's wrote on all the tracks and played instruments for some of them as well (Piano & drums). She's be very involved so I am hoping that'll translate into good reviews from critics as since she separated for Syco & Sony it's like she's trying to shed the "X-factor" stigma and become a much more credible artist. All I can say is that I am SO excited about this song and the album. The song is already #89 on UK iTunes and #39 on Ireland iTunes based on pre-orders - which is an extremely promising start there!

I'm a little concerned about the immediate Adele comparisons - there's a thin line between 'this reminds of Adele, I like!' and 'this reminds me of Adele...now, where is Adele?' and I really don't want Leona crossing onto the wrong side of that line for too many people. I want to see her win again!
I do like the song. The arrangement makes the song seem more like a Live Lounge performance instead of an actual 'finished' production, and I suspect she was purposely going for that rawer, more simplistic sound. But I believe that is a big part of the reason the song sounds so reminiscent of RITD - the melody and lyrics are very Leona; that doesn't feel like Adele at all. But when stripped down to its simplest elements as it is, all you hear is the soul clapping and 4/4 drum beat, which was the backbone of RITD.

I'm hoping/expecting that when she starts performing it here she is on the piano, because I think that could be a real attention grabber ("I didn't even know she played an instrument, wow!") and become another selling point.

I wish I thought this would be a comeback for her in the US, but I don't think so. Should do fine in the UK at least.

Meh. neither here nor there for me.
Let me take a guess at who produced this? His stuff is all the same...
Vocals are on point, though.

This is great - love the piano! This conjures the same excitement in me that 'One More Sleep' did. :)

This isn't bad, but it lacks that spark I was really hoping for.
Vocals are incredible, but something is missing to make this really pop.
It's like it SHOULD have been a smash, but it's just "meh."

From what I've seen, this song has gotten a mainly positive reception so far with some mixed opinions and then the usual negative nancies. I think this song had to be the lead single of the album as the lyrics essentially translate to her break away from her label - which had quite a bit of buzz and controversy around it. This song sort of helps fuel that and generates more hype than normally would be around Leona's music. I also think that people need to give it time to let the song sink in. If you don't like it - fine. But I think this song is definitely a grower with some instant/catchy parts, so I think it'll turn some people's minds around in time.
Not to mention that the iTunes response so far for Leona has been quite amazing in the UK & Ireland from the get go. I'm hoping it'll translate into a successful single here and across Europe to help it cross over into the US.
I would also like to add that Leona's team has been on point so far and Leona's been hitting the radio stations in the UK today and will be doing so for the next week or so as part of a radio tour. She'll be doing a radio tour across Europe too and hopefully the US later.
The album is also released in early Autumn so there'll definitely be a second single before the album. Based on what fans have heard and the clips it definitely seems like there are stronger songs than "Fire Under My Feet", but it fits the bill more in terms of the lyrics and just generally pushing Leona into a new direction. Leona's never looked happier about her music and that translates so much in the way she talks about it and her presence. I mean I would have never of dreamed Leona to look as amazing and confident as she does now. From the single cover to the way she moves in the music video. I think the main thing I'm focused on is the evolution of Leona as an artist and I have to say I couldn't be anymore proud and really hope that the music will be successful.

I think if you like her art and enjoy her then thats truly what its about...don't see success in the US really at all for her but i hope I'm wrong because i love Leona. I enjoy her no matter what, some of her unreleased tracks are truly GEMS.

I love it! I can't believe so many bad reactions. It's catchy, great vocals, great message, and finally an uptempo release from Leona, which for the US, will be rather unexpected. To me, it has the whole package.
