This one is done. Label is off of it as of today. His new album is finished early, so new music coming from him soon. Thanks for the heads up, as I saw in your introduction that you work at a radio station. What's a bummer is that "Riser" is starting to get real help from Westwood One, as Dierks has gained 1.0 million in audience this week, despite only gaining 72 spins but I could see why they would want to abandoned promoting "Riser" by the Christmas chart shutdown (since it was taking forever to climb the charts -- despite good sales and research) and prepare for new music in Q1, if Dierks is ready to go with new music.

I'm really excited for new Dierks music (I'm assuming January), but at the same time, it's a huge bummer that "Riser" didn't turn into the #1 hit that it deserved to be. I always hate it when the final single from an album gets pulled early just so a lead single can get released.

I really enjoyed "Say You Do" but I so wish we could go back and make "Riser" the follow-up to "Drunk On A Plane."
The sales and research responded quite well to "Riser", so it's unfortunate that country radio was so slow to bump this song in rotation. Not surprised Capitol would wish to move on by the end of the calendar year, though.

I've been ready to move on from this era for a while now (I know, blasphemy) but I'm frustrated this isn't seeing the success it deserves.
If Luke send this to radio, it would have hit #1 in September. Hmph.
Hope his new stuff is good. Don't fail me, Dierks.

It's unfortunate, but I'm not really all that surprised. It's a really good song, but has always felt like a bit of a 'filler' single to me (just in relation to the song's release and promo, not the quality).

Borderline criminal.....OK, not really in the grand scheme of life; yet, I used to book gigs for Steve Moakler; and he seemed to be pretty kind, talented, and deserving of a top-ten Dierks hit. Yeah, I guess we can use that over-used statement: "It is what it is".

Go figure, it had its best week in awhile too, moving 26-24* and re-passing Rascal Flatts. Considering this is week 24, it will quite possibly go recurrent from here without label support.

"Riser" lost 32 spins and 180k in audience today, so I'm sure we'll see greater losses as the week continues.

This was already posted in News & Non-Singles discussion, but it appears that Dierks Bentley will replace Blake Shelton as co-host (alongside Luke Bryan) at the 51st ACM Awards in April.
Hint: Listen to the bartender (also, the dog that's standing in front of the door is Dierks' dog Jake).

can't believe they pulled Riser. I can. UMG/Capitol is attempting to put Dierks' star level into that top tier and with the new music ready, plus the news of him co-hosting the ACM's, they wanted his next era to start as soon as possible. "Riser" was just taking too long to climb the chart and Capitol Records decided that a top 20-15 peak wasn't worth the trouble.

worst update ever. can't believe they pulled Riser. I'm super bummed that "Riser" is done, but it sounds like Dierks has a new album done already, and we'll probably be getting the first single sometime in early 2016. The label pulled promotion for this song last week, and so it went recurrent on Billboard tonight.

Has anyone heard any new songs played in concert? I imagine he's keeping things under wraps. The Riser era was great but I can't help longing for some more traditional Dierks sound on this new album. Please less drum beats and more steel/banjo. Keeping hope in Dierks--this is clearly a crossroads in his career; he's now at that breakout point where he can either stay within what his music has always been true to or he can go the more commercial route.

There has been literally nothing heard, said, or peeped about the new music. All we have is Windmills' list of registered cowrites. He's headlining the NHL All-star weekend in Nashville in January. That would be the first I could think of where we might hear new music if it's not already at radio.

Yet another very disappointing chart run for one of 2015's best singles, and the latest member of a fraternity whose members include King George, Billy Currington, Darius Rucker, Alan Jackson and numerous others IMHO.
Given the state of the format I'm not surprised, just really disappointed.

Given the state of the format I'm not surprised, just really disappointed. I mean, this wasn't exactly on track to be a bonafide hit or anything but it really didn't become a hit because it got pulled prematurely. I'm pretty sure Top 15 at least was in the cards for "Riser" if the label had continued to ride it out for a few more months yet, but I agree that all signs point to pulling this being the best choice since 2016 is warming up to potentially be another big year for him. I think it's awesome that he's replacing Blake as an ACM co-host btw!

I certainly have no problem with him snagging that ACM co-hosting gig; he is a HUGE asset to country music as well as the format, and I certainly hope 2016 will continue his rise into the upper echelon of the format's megastars which he unequivocally deserves IMHO.

I didnt expect it to become as huge as SYD, CALC or DOAP turned out to be, but I"m still disappointed that it didn"t do much better on the charts.

Dierks as ACM host worries me. Every time I've heard him talk, he looked and sounded like he had just woken up from a nap. Of Rip van Winkle proportions.
I thought this song was kind of "there". Good lyrics, but they got lost in a weak melody.

Dierks comes across as very well-spoken to me, and he can often be quite hilarious too. I think he'll make for a far better co-host than Luke Bryan does.

Dierks never struck me as ever hosting one of these award shows so I'll definitely be interested since I find his conversations extremely warming and appealing.

He and Blake seemed like two frat boys goofing around, and Luke managed to make even his goofing around feel wooden.

He hosted the non-televised ACM Honors show for three consecutive years as well, so while obviously not on the same scale as the ACMs, he does have some experience in the hosting arena.
He's a funny guy but sometimes his humor is...quirky. Like his whole Hot Country Knights 90s cover group he did with his band and Brothers Osborne. It was hilarious and well received, but it's kind of a nitch comedy. And of course his DOAP captain character.
I'm excited about the hosting gig because it's such a big opportunity. I'm nervous because I don't want him to blow it. But it seems Capitol is banking on a big year for him. Aside from the ACMs, he also has a lot of high profile festival headlining gigs already announced. Hopefully it all lives up!!!

I'm just hoping Luke Bryan influence doesn't change Dierks music direction. I want him to build off of Riser and produce a killer record.

I know but I just have this bad feeling that Dierks is going to sellout and make music that doesn't sound all that country. Does anyone have any information on any new songs and what they sound like.

No info. And I think Dierks has a better idea of who he is as an artist than a lot of the male players in Nashville, kind of in the vein of Eric Church.
