30k would make her the 3rd most successful for a Voice alum after Cassadee Pope & Danielle Bradbury I believe. Hell, most of them struggle to break 10k

I remember there were other quirky artists like this in the early 2000s (Nellie McKay comes to mind and isn't Billy Joel's daughter Alexy Ray edgy and provocative) but I don't think any of them have been this radio friendly and current. The time is right for artists like this. People want something different and interesting, which is why Lorde did so well - thoughtful lyrics with the right amount of edge and quirk. I really hope Melanie does well because she deserves it. This album is really fantastic start to finish. I was thinking how hot a remix of Mad Hatter with Eminem would be.

She is an actual baby. The album really is great. I think she can breakout on radio if the timing works out. She gives me Banks / Lorde vibes.

I have never heard of any of those artists other then Cassadee Pope (COME BACK TO HEY MONDAY!)
I wonder if Melanie doesn't want to be involved with them because of the way they treat the artists. Those numbers are BAD (other then the top 3). Taylor Hicks from American Idol sold more then all of those in its first weeks lol.

She probably doesn't necessarily attribute her success directly to The Voice; she was on season 3, which was in 2012, and she only made it to the top-6. She didn't get her record deal with Atlantic until 2014 and that was only after she had begun recording independently. Yes, the show did give her mainstream exposure but it's not as if she was one of the contestants instantly snatched up by a record label after the show was over.

The Voice does nothing to promote its artists after their season ends. The show isn't about the contestants, its about the coaches. Thats why the coaches perform EVERY FREAKING EPISODE, especially when they have a new album to pimp.
And to put those numbers in even more perspective, the Swon Brothers have only sold 35k TOTAL with their album. Everybody else is far below them. Melanie starts in a very strong place compared to other Voice alums.

For me, the drop in Soap is everything. Pity Party is the obvious standout of the album.

I'm obsessed with Sippy Cup. I really hope Atlantic promotes her album well into the new year!

The rest of the album is pretty meh af doe. Lies. It all blends together in a nice but wildly forgettable way for me. "Pity Party" and "Cry Baby" are the only 2 tracks I can remember the tune to after 3 full listens to the album.

Not apples to apples completely since their totals were sales only, but that is amazing that can move as many units at Cassadee Pope without a radio single

I see this girl as having a minor impact on the charts eventually. I hope so. If Lorde can blow up past indie/hipster buzz, why can't Melanie. I think her album is better, actually.

I'd consider seeing her show when she comes to town next month but I despise the venue she's playing

I don't think this album is a classic. She kinda reminds me of a more alternative lily Allen. It's a refreshing album regardless. I don't see a clear hit on here. Although soap for me is the standout

I agree. I think soap should have been the first single and pushed at Alt to get her some radio presence.

This album has stuck with me. "Soap", "Pity Party", and "Dollhouse" are perfect.

This album is still giving me life. Has she had any success on any format of radio? Her stream count and youtube views seem quite high!

Dollhouse was certified Gold in December and the album is back inside the top-50 this week. Loving the longevity. I'd say she's officially the most successful Voice alum thus far (although Jordan Smith seems to be selling steadily).
