It's definitely promising.
I'm trying to figure out how is it impacting the Billboard charts in the near future, though.

With all the freemium services out there, I don't see what makes this one stand out.

Corey Taylor says: "Of course not, I won't support Apple Music because they can’t use our music to sell anything. That’s fine with me, you know, I don’t give a s**t. Let the f**king Taylor Shits and One Erections sell their f**king sodas and edible panties. I don’t give a s**t about any of that. The second that I’m writing music written specifically to sell somebody a f**king motorcycle book, that’s it for me. I’m done. I’m f**king out. I thought the big thing was between Tidal and Spotify. I never realized that there’s now a f**king third player on the f**king rack. It’s so hard to keep up with the way technology’s f**king going anymore. I’m surprised people haven’t just dropped their tools and been like, ‘f**k it, I’m out'."

Corey Taylor sounds very upset about streaming. There was no need for him to deride others for their choices in their careers. Also, he should get his facts straight; Taylor Swift doesn't even have her music on Spotify. ;)

Who's Corey Taylor?
Also, ugh at streaming services. I have no interest in streaming music sites but I suppose if I'm eventually forced to use them, Apple would probably be the one I'd use. I like owning the music and I can't explain why, but I'm also reaching maximum capacity as far as CDs and physical media goes. I also don't like the idea of streaming music over 4G (or non-wifi). Does it use a lot of data? That's one benefit I see of having the music downloaded and stored that streaming can't provide - plus airplane mode.
I'll keep an eye on this one anyway and consider how streaming can benefit me more than mp3s and downloaded music.

I shall try this service out when the trial period begins when the release happens. Corey is the lead singer of Rock groups Slipknot and Stone Sour. I like owning the music and I can't explain why, but I'm also reaching maximum capacity as far as CDs and physical media goes. I totally get where you're coming from with the physical aspect of it because it's tangible, there's the cover art, the booklet, lyrics, liner notes, etc. Some of that has been available with digital, but it's just not the same. I also don't like the idea of streaming music over 4G (or non-wifi). Does it use a lot of data? If you don't have an unlimited data plan, it can use a lot of data and become really expensive (depending on your provider). It still uses a lot of data. The thing with some unlimited data plans is that they some are unlimited, but they throttle the speeds when you reach a certain threshold. Apple is going to be using the 256 KBPS compression rate for streaming so a 4 minute song would be around 8 MB. I know with Spotify it is 96 KBPS for the free one so a 4 minute song would be around 3 MB. And the 4G could be spotty in some places so you wouldn't want the music to buffer/hiccup while you're listening to it. Wifi is the best option for that sort of thing when it's available. Perhaps the service and data plans might change for new contracts/agreements in the future to better accommodate this new service.

I'll keep an eye on this one anyway and consider how streaming can benefit me more than mp3s and downloaded music. With the paid subscription, most services allow for offline syncing. After the initial sync (over wifi), the data used is minimal. I rarely stream over 4G, unless I really need to hear a song while I'm out somewhere that I dont have saved. Of course, I also live in a major metro, so public wifi isn't hard to come by.

So, can someone confirm this for me...
With Apple Music, you'll be able to easily combine your own personal music library and their streaming library? I use and love Spotify, but its offline feature always gives me trouble and never seems to work right, so I'm hoping Apple's is better.

APPLE MUSIC TO PAY 0% ROYALTIES TO RIGHTS HOLDERS THROUGH FREE TRIAL ACCOUNTS, 58% THROUGH SUBSCRIPTIONSPosted on 10th June 2015 Three days after its grand unveiling, the revenue figures have been revealed for Apple Music. As revealed by Digital Music News via a leaked contract, it will pay out 58% on subscription revenues earned through the service - this applies to the $9.99/mo and $14.99/mo accounts. It’s also emerged that Apple Music will pay 0% to rights owners, when music is streamed through the free trial option. Spotify gives 70% of revenue to rights owners, and this figure is calculated after taxes and other deductions, not like Apple Music’s full gross amount. But the significance of this lies in Apple’s three-month free trial period, starting from its launch on 30th June. Any releases coming out between that day onwards are likely to be hugely affected in terms of revenue. This decision mostly affects independents, as major labels and associated publishers have signed separate deals on their own terms. Source

I would DIE if I were able to ask Siri "Play me the top R&B songs of 1995"! Can't wait to see how this measures up with Spotify. Also Spotify raised $526M from investors this past week to help fend off Apple.

Also Spotify raised $526M from investors this past week to help fend off Apple. Spotify should be scared. Streaming is the only thing Spotify has going on right now, while Apple has a TON of revenue coming in from multiple markets. If Apple wanted, it could spend Spotify, Pandora, and Jay-Z into the ground. Not to mention that Apple can use iPhones, iTunes, and other Apple products to market it's streaming service. It reminds me a lot of what happened with Microsoft's Internet Explorer. In the early 90's, Netscape had 90% of the internet browser market. However, Microsoft had such a huge financial advantage and could use Microsoft computers to promote it's browser. Netscape didn't stand a chance.

Pop or Country artists could never. :'(

I was grandfathered on AT&T because I've had unlimited since my teen years when they were Cingular. I got the 4G LTE plan the week before they dropped the option forever.
