Here's a disco record I was hearing in early 1979, that I like. It's part instrumental and part vocal. Anybody like this one? Anybody remember this one?: www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CwaSJDu9v8

Kind of obscure, but it's very enjoyable. I wonder how you know so many songs I've never heard before. :)

Kind of obscure, but it's very enjoyable. I wonder how you know so many songs I've never heard before. :) In 1977 to 1979 I was listening to a station, in Philadelphia, that played smooth jazz, disco, and R&B, along with some current hits. From 1969 to 1977 I listened to an adult contemporary countdown show called "Top 40 Easy Listening". From 1957 to 1968 I listened to a pop station that had a very large playlist of current music (WIBG Radio 99, in Philadelphia. Their playlist was 99 current records). And also, I have been listening to current music a lot longer than you have. You started in late 1963. I started when I was a little baby. I always have listened to current music ever since I was old enough to make out what I was hearing. So I have been listening for 20 years longer than you have. And of course, we always had a collection of records in the house that are older than me. The radio was also playing music that was made before my time.

Yes, you do have quite a head start over me. I mainly listened to WABC when I was growing up in New York City. And they had a countdown of their top 20 songs each week, and played some new songs and older ones, too. Probably rather limited, though. But I feel I'm fairly well-versed in pop music from say the mid 50's on. As I said before, I've caught up on a lot of that stuff. But I didn't listen to much adult contemporary over the years, and we definitely have somewhat different likes when it comes to music. My parents used to listen to a lot of talk radio, with occasional old time songs thrown in. And I listened to pop music in Binghamton, New York, when I was away at college, and later to Chicago, Orlando, and other places, too.
