Pretty weak start for Muse considering their last 2 outings. OMAM is on par with their first release, but that went on to go platinum.

Pretty weak start for Muse considering their last 2 outings. The 2nd Law alienated much of Muse's fanbase. It's no surprise the new album would do way worse than that one.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6597810/muse-first-number-1-album-billboard-200-chartMuse Aiming for First No. 1 Album on Billboard 200 ChartBy Keith Caulfield | June 11, 2015 10:01 PM EDT Rock band Muse is heading for its first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. Industry forecasters suggest the British act’s Drones, which was released on June 8 through Helium-3/Warner Bros. Records, could move over 75,000 equivalent albums units in the week ending June 14. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The new Billboard 200’s top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, June 17. Muse was formed in 1994 and charted its first Billboard hits 10 years later with the single “Time Is Running Out” and the album Absolution. The former reached No. 9 on the Alternative Songs chart, while the Absolution set peaked at No. 107 on the Billboard 200. Since then, Muse has racked up 14 more Alternative Songs hits -- including four No. 1s. In addition, on the Billboard 200, they’ve claimed a total of seven entries (five studio efforts plus two live albums). Their highest charting album is their last studio release, 2012’s The 2nd Law, which debuted and peaked at No. 2. The second-biggest debut on next week’s chart could be Of Monsters and Men’s Beneath the Skin, which may start with around 50,000 to 60,000 units. Watch for the Rolling Stones’ Sticky Fingers reissue to re-launch with 30,000-plus units as well.

Glad Muse are getting the #1, but I expected more for the sales.

Really though Muse would just slightly crack 100,000. Thought OMAM would be slightly higher, but the two singles are VERY weak. A lot of the album is MUCH better. Lots of people turned off from the odd single choices this go around.

Florence + The Machine (Republic) 35-40k, 35-40k
So they are suggesting that not many people will stream or download songs from this album (less than from Stages)? I think it's close to 50k with final numbers.

Poor numbers for PP2. Definitely clear the 2nd movie is nowhere near as popular as the first was.

Poor numbers for PP2. Definitely clear the 2nd movie is nowhere near as popular as the first was. Uhhhh? The movie itself is doing much better. The original made $65 million at the US Box Office for its entire run. The sequel made $69 million in its FIRST WEEKEND. It currently stands at $165 million in the US and a 3rd film was just announced this week. There are not any singles or promotion from PP2 right now. Jessie J is not a star, and her single isn't even really being promoted. Plus, they made the odd choice of not releasing the version that was in the movie. Also, the original film came out 3 years ago? And the fact this soundtrack is still in the top 10 with no promotion is extremely impressive.

www.billboard.com/articles/columns/chart-beat/6598061/rolling-stones-sticky-fingers-top-10-billboard-200The Rolling Stones' 'Sticky Fingers' Heading Back to Top 10 on Billboard 200 ChartBy Keith Caulfield | June 12, 2015 9:07 PM EDT The reissue of the classic No. 1 album follows the group's revamps of "Exile on Main St." and "Some Girls." The Rolling Stones’ reissue of its classic No. 1 album Sticky Fingers is heading back to the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart for the first time since its 1971 release. Industry forecasters suggest the revamped set -- which was remastered and re-released on June 8 in a variety of formats -- may move around 35,000 equivalent album units in the week ending June 14. The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The chart’s new top 10 will be revealed on Wednesday, June 18. Sticky Fingers -- which spent four weeks at No. 1 in 1971 -- has been absent from the tally since 1981. For charting and sales tracking purposes, nearly all versions of the album will be linked together on Billboard’s charts and in Nielsen Music’s tracking system. (One permutation of the album, dubbed the Super Deluxe edition, will track and chart separately due to its extensive addition of content. That version could move around 10,000 units.) The reissued Sticky Fingers is the third expanded reboot that The Rolling Stones have released in recent years. It follows the 2010 revamp of its 1972 No. 1 Exile on Main St. and the 2011 reissue of the 1978 No. 1 Some Girls. (The reissue of Exile re-entered at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, while Some Girls returned at No. 46.) As for the rest of next week’s top 10, watch for Muse to secure its first No. 1 album as Drones could top the list in its opening week. It could shift 75,000 units. Of Monsters and Men’s new Beneath the Skin is also heading for the top 10, with around 60,000 units.
