Oh I just posted this in Austin's thread in general artists. I'm looking forward to hearing this too! I hope a full length album follows. It's been years and we've just had a few single and a half ass promoted EP. I've always rooted for Austin to succeed.

Can't wait! I wonder if it will be a sexy song?!
I think the cover is hot, but Austin's shirt is 2 sizes too big and it's still on so that is problematic.
Let the Nick Jonas hypersexualization of Austin begin!

So... here we go again. He hasn't given me a terrible song yet, so I have faith he will deliver again!!! Maybe "Banga! Banga!" fits in that category?

I have a strong feeling Talay Riley is a co-writer for this as he has tweeted (and retweeted) about this numerous amounts of times now, even before the release date announcement. slay Talay

This is a new sound for Austin. At least he's not sounding like he's singing Bieber reject songs anymore. It almost has an 80s feel and thanks to Taylor that sound seems to be creeping back in. This may have a shot.

I like it! I've never gotten into any of his singles (there might be one of his that I liked but I forgot), but I might be able to get into this.

This is easily the best single he has released so far! This is the type of sound he should be coming out with right now if he wants to be taken seriously an adult artist. I think this actually will be his biggest hit to date and will set the stage for him to become a serious contender for Prince of Pop.
ETA: Upon re-listening, I realized that the rip on that site linked above is from the world premiere that happened on KMVQ 99.7 which is the CHR/Pop station in my market!

I guess I need jjose712 to compare Nick Jonas, Austin Mahone and Shawn Mendes.

Love this!! I figured his music would go in a different direction and while I was excited to hear this, I was worried that I might not like it stylistically. Luckily, that wasn't the case. This is still very Austin Mahone. The song is different in all the right ways. Really hoping he finds success with this. It needs to smash. Total jam. Love the groove, edge, and dark vibe this has.
I'd hate to see Austin disappear. He's recording some of my favorite pop music and has been since he came onto the scene.

I guess I need jjose712 to compare Nick Jonas, Austin Mahone and Shawn Mendes. It's curious but it seems that male teen hearthrobs have a more difficult time looking for their market than the girls, which is curious because the teen fanbase generally is way more over the top with the males. I think labels must realize that we live in the world now where the two main solo males singers of the last two years are Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith, and that's important because in terms of looks both were not marketable at all. In Sam case is even beyond because years ago he would be destined to be a young gay version of Josh Groban, with great album sales and zero presence on radio (at least on pop radio). The three cases are very different, Nick Jonas has a past and that past includes purity rings. Trying to be an adult singer means to break with the past without alienate his former fanbase and that's not easy. I know a lot of people criticied Nick for using his body and pander for gay audiences, but in my opinion his strategy was really good. First, yes he used his body, but he used his body on magazines, on his videos he kept the music the focus of all. The fact that he was able to score two big hits, and even better the fact that he had a hit with Chains, avoiding the one hit wonder and having success with a song that at first didn't look like a sure hit on pop, made wonders to establishim himself as credible adult singer. The album is not a big smash, but it's successful enough to start a new career through it. The pandering of gay fans result in opposite reactions, but he is playing a gay character on tv, wanting gay fans had two other advantages, it breaks with the jonas brothers image, and it's good on the long run, because gay fans and soccer moms are way more loyal than the usual teen fanbase, and it's an almost new market for male singers. I know a lot of them have gay fans, but apart of Enrique Iglesias none of them look directly for gay fans like Nick did. Shawn and Austin had some things in common, they were famous on internet before start their careers but the rest is completely different. Shawn's label messed the release of his singles, but on the rest he is doing really well. Being so young, in my opinion, helped him to avoid the label push as teen sexy idol which in my opinion it wouldn't work for him. He is putting himself in the market as a young Ed Sheeran, and it's working for him. The fact that his album is a success but not an smash is great too, it will let him grow at his own pace. From the three i think Austin is the one with more problems. Curiously he has it all, he has a good voice, he can dance and he is very handsome, but he was marketed from the beginning like a Justin Bieber 2.0 and that's a big problem in my opinion. They went for the sexy look really too fast in my opinion. I think they should stay on the cute safe harmless teen looks for a while, unfortunately his first singles weren't successful enough to keep that image. I don't have a problem with male singers selling their looks at the same time that their music, women do that all the time and nobody says a word, but sometimes (and in Austin case is problematic). If one watch images of some Austin performances (or Justin Bieber or Jason Derulo) they seem dressed to go to a bondage party. In Jason's case that's not a problem because he looks like a man, but Austin and Justin look like young boys, i know they are over 18, but they look younger anyway. In my opinion (and i know most people will disagree), and more tamed image would work better. And other thing that's not a good idea are PR relationships. Sorry but i don't think putting his dating life on the map is a good idea, i know the teen fanbase is gullible and adore their teen idol dating another teen singers, but in the long run is not a good idea put the focus on your personal life and with time people get tired of that. If he has a serious girlfriend there's no need to hide, but the rest is cheap promo. I know it worked in the past, but i don't think it's the best right now In Nick and Shawn's cases i think the strategies are clear, in Austin's case he needs a big hit. Fortunately for him he is profitable enough for the label, and in my opinion the people in the label think they have a potential big artist in their hands, but at the end of the day he needs a big hit to break in the market, or at least hits big enough to give him more chances. In terms of hits on radio he is way ahead Shawn (Shawn is facing a lot of reluctance on radio) but in terms of the whole career he is in a more delicate situation (but that won't be a problem if the label is really invested in him)

I've listened a few times and definitely a grower for me, I like it (brought back lots of other songs to my mind that may or may not make sense lol - which isn't a bad thing)

I dunno who else had a hand in writing this, but in any case, I'm really not a fan of the lyrical phrasing employed in this one, most specifically in lines involving "dirty work". The new sound is fine, but it's not enough to overcome this lyrically-challenged misfire.
TBQH I'm still waiting for something that I'll be as into as "What About Love". :(

It's okay, his vocals remind me a lot of Nick Jonas

Only .69 on ITunes! This is his best song since "What About Love" and it should be a much bigger hit! Top 10, please!

I wonder if this song was inspired by his relationship with Becky G? ;) I think this is the kind of comments that he and his team should try to avoid, of course that's not what's happening because his team seems totally ok with him putting his private life front and center. In my opinion it's a big mistake, he is at risk of being the male Rita Ora, who is known more for her life outside of music that for her hit singles (at least she has her number ones in UK)

Whenever Taylor Swift releases a new song or video, there's always speculation and curiosity about who the song/video is about. And even though Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears have not been a couple for more than a decade, some look for any and all veiled references to her in his music and videos.

And even though Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears have not been a couple for more than a decade, some look for any and all veiled references to her in his music and videos. That's true and an artist can't avoid that but he can not putting the focus on it. Taylor Swift's speculation it's all her fault, and she is smart enough to know that was not a good idea and she is trying to move on, unfortunately for her it's too late and she is too big. She made the mistake to put the focus on the personal writing of her songs and let people speculate. Some of her relationships seemed all for the show, and that's a mistake too (she is too big and don't need cheap promo). the problem with Austin is that he is not a star, he is a known young singer but he didn't break in the market, so when he dates someone in the same situation, the first thing that comes to mind is pr relationship for promo. If the relationships are real that will be a problem only for a while, but if he starts serial dating girls of the same characteristics that could end being a problem. Putting the focus in your personal life gives problems in the long run, we have Bieber as perfect example, and Bieber was very famous before his dating life started to appear on tabloids. I know this is the standard behaviour of pr for young artist, sometimes when you read musical news you find they are talking about couples you don't even know who they are, and sometimes it seems that a singer can't be single even if he/she is very very young. And of course, most of the times the singer has little control of the situation, but i think it's better to avoid being in the news before the couple is at least a little serious, because at the end of the day the private life can rise the profile of an artist but rarely has a positive effect on the sales
