Is this not out in Canada? I went to hmv to get it and it wasn't there nor is it listed on its website. I tried Wal Mart too but of course it wasn't there because their selection sucks/doesn't exist.
Edit: September 25 in Canada if amazon.ca is to be believed. Odd...

Shipping from amazon.com to Canada costs an arm and a leg, not to mention the exchange rate. I'll wait for September 25 when amazon.ca and/or HMV gets it.
Can't wait though!

Listened to clips on ITUNES and this is pretty much exactly what I wanted from her. The vocals are pretty much flawless and definitely remind me of her debut. I'm not to keen on the fussy arrangement behind A Boy Needs A Bike, which lyrically remains one of my top 10 from her. Still can't wait to get my hands on this. I have had no time but I may try tonight. Is this definitely at Target though? It's not advertised at all on their website.

It was only $9.99 at Best Buy (even though it rang up as $11.99) so no worries. She has a VERY strange concept of completely stripped down and back to basics though. I am only on Love Used To Be and while, I hear it in the vocals and emotion, there is very specific, calculated production. Hell, take a look at the credits on the album. A LOT went into the making of this music but...that said, NOTHING she has put out since Goodbye Alice In Wonderland has given me the ultimate feels like this song does. The vocals give me legit goosebumps and when she loses it at the end...OMG. There are VERY few singers in the world that can emote like her.

I actually HATE the production on a Boy Needs A Bike. If not for those vocals, I would legit contact her on social media and berate her. What did they do to one of my favorite Jewel songs? Such a baffling choice to try to make it into some epic with loud, obnoxious production.
Edit: She wasn't lying about her vocals being left untouched at least. I think the album is still way overproduced in spots or musically reminds me of her last few country albums that I don't really listen to. She wasn't completely able to let go and return to the raw production of her debut, which is too bad because it would have served songs like Everything Breaks that much better. Rick Rubin actually would have been a great choice in producer for her, if she wanted to spend the money. I don't think he necessarily cares about radio hits and all that shit because he has produced songs for major artists that never became singles (see: Justin Timberlake and Adele.) Plus, Jewel has the money stashed away to afford him. I really LOVE her vocals on this album. I would love an all-acoustic version.

I think she made a good balance between acoustic and produced on this album. Overall I actually really like the production. A Boy Needs A Bike is the strangest too IMO, mainly because we're so used to the old acoustic version. There's another thing about this version that throws us off, it's in 4/4 and the old version is in 3/4. But I don't hate it, I think I'll have to get used to it.
I really love the new songs, they are absolutely perfect. Love Used To Be, Pretty Faced Fool, Plain Jane, Family Tree and Mercy are among her best. I love what she did to His Pleasure is My Pain and Nicotine Love, and I'm glad she left Carnivore as a live cut, super raw.
It's quickly becoming one of my favorites albums from her, it's been awhile since she gave us such an emotional ride, I'd say, well, since Pieces of You actually. That's where the connection really is IMO.

Love Used To Be is far and away my favorite song on the album. The production stays out of the way. Pretty Faced Fool, Family Tree, and Mercy are definitely standouts. I love the song with Dolly as well.
Oh...how could I forget The Shape Of You. I totally forgot that she sang that song at the Emmys during the In Memoriam tribute years ago. It was stunning then and it's still stunning now. A Boy Needs A Bike is growing on me but I am going to go back to the live version from 1997.

I checked out her site and Amazon, and the physical album is currently listed as out of stock. I ordered the silver bundle, but I may pick up another copy today for one of my friends who loves Jewel but may not know this album exists. My favorites: Love Used To Be, Mercy, Carnivore, Nicotine Love, Plain Jane, and My Father's Daughter. I have never heard the original version of Boy and His Bike, but I may have to check it out and see which I like better. Overall, it's a great return to form for Jewel and I hope she finds some success from this!

She needs to be performing Love Used To Be. That song will forever hold a special place in my heart along with devastating classics like Emily, Deep Water, Break Me, Where You Are, 1000 Miles, Adrian, Near You Always, Painters, Foolish Games, Angel Standing By, etc. That is my favorite type of Jewel song. She can make as many musical mistakes as she wants but for giving me songs like those, I will FOREVER stan.

Jewel will tour solo-acoustic to support Picking Up The Pieces!www.jeweljk.com/articles.html?n_id=4425JEWEL PERFORMS GREATEST HITS AND RECOUNTS STORIES FROM MEMOIR ON INTIMATE SPRING TOUR Grammy-nominated songwriter and New York Times’ bestselling author and poet JEWEL will return to the road this Spring for an intimate tour, performing hits spanning her 12-studio albums including 2015’s ‘Picking Up the Pieces’ and sharing stories from her memoir Never Broken — Songs Are Only Half the Story. Jewel’s “Picking Up the Pieces Tour” kicks off Friday, March 4 in Lake Charles, LA at Golden Nugget Casino Grand Ballroom. “It’s going to be really fun to get back out on the road,” Jewel said. “I’m excited to share the stories behind some of my favorite and most personal songs in such an intimate setting.” The tour marks Jewel’s first since 2013’s “Greatest Hits” tour and is the culmination of an exciting 2015 that saw the singer release her first memoir and her 12th studio album ‘Picking Up the Pieces’ within days of each other. Praised as “remarkably raw” and “bracingly honest (Entertainment Weekly)” the album has been noted as a bookend to her multiplatinum selling debut, 1995’s ‘Pieces of You’. “Never Broken — Songs Are Only Half the Story” shares experiences spanning Jewel’s childhood and career and earned the designations of a NY Times Bestseller and “the perfect celebrity memoir” by TIME. Called “one of the most richly idiomatic pop singers of her generation (Rolling Stone),” Jewel has sold over 27million albums to date and earned praise from fellow songwriters including Loretta Lynn and Neil Young. A cornerstone of the current American and folk movements, the singer will perform fan favorites spanning the record including “Who Will Save Your Soul”, which sold 12million copies. “Picking Up the Pieces Tour” dates included below, more to come in the following weeks! 01/30 Nashville, TN 3rd and Linsdley 03/04 Lake Charles, LA Golden Nugget Casino 03/05 Biloxi, MS IP Casino Resort and Spa 03/06 Jacksonville, FL Florida Theatre 03/10 Fort Lauderdale, FL Parker Playhouse 03/11 Fort Pierce, FL Sunrise Theatre 03/13 Clearwater, FL Capitol Theatre 03/17 Greensboro, NC Carolina Theatre 03/18 Wilmington, NC CFCC's Humanities and Fine Arts Center 03/19 Durham, NC Carolina Theatre 05/27 Sun Valley, Idaho Sun Valley Pavilion

News/ Jewel Fights the Winter Blues by Going on a Tropical Vacation With Boyfriend Charlie Whitehurst by Francesca Bacardi Thu, Feb 18, 2016 7:33 AM Jewel is having a great 2016 so far. After going public in January with her relationship with NFL star Charlie Whitehurst, the "Foolish Games" singer is enjoying her boyfriend's company on an exotic vacation to the British Virgin Islands. She has been sharing pics of their whirlwind trip on Instagram, making note of their multi-island adventures, which also happen to involve animals and delicious food. Now that is definitely the ideal way to beat the winter blues! With gorgeous sunsets and sandy shores, these two must be having the time of their lives while taking a load off. Ironically, some of her time spent on one island was a tad colder than she expected. A source exclusively confirmed to E! News that Whitehurst and Jewel were dating and that "close friends and family" were "really happy for her." "She really enjoys being around Charlie," the insider added. "He is a complete gentleman." Jewel and her hunky beau have already taken to their relationship to the next level: She introduced him to her son, Kase Townes Murray, whom she shares with ex-husband Ty Murray. They were married for six years before she announced their divorce in July 2014. "My husband, friend and partner of 16 years and I have decided to get a divorce. Ty and I have always tried to live the most authentic life possible, and we wanted our separation as husband and wife to be nothing less loving than the way we came together," she said. "Our dedication to our son is unwavering and we are both committed to being the best partners in raising our son."
