"Like I can" not moving? Weird Most of us were correct because "Hey Mama" moved into #2 Congrats to Fifth Harmony for having their first ever top 6 hit! Was expecting a big jump from "Fun" and "Good For You" but I guess it'll have to wait another few weeks. Loving the extras from Shaggy and Ellie Goulding And it's officially the first AT40 without Ariana Grande since 5/17/2014 (Break Free was an extra last week) making it roughly 1 year and 1 month And I have two questions about the AT40. What really is the "Optional Extra" is it only played on the U.S. version because I've never heard It on my station(I live in Canada) they always play Canadian songs that are big in Canada but not on the AT40. Occasionally they'll play the top 3 optional extra but that's it. And has their ever been an artist who had a number one song, and after it was knocked off replaced by the same artist? I knew "The Beatles" did it a bunch of times but in the Ryan Seacrest era has it happened? The closest thing I can recall was "Stay With Me" by Sam Smith was at #1, and Latch by Disclosure ft. Sam Smith was at #3 but "Latch" was at its peak and never made #1. Just curious #1: Optional extras are offered to all affiliates and it is within their right to choose whether or not to play them. #2: Closest act with back-to-back #1's in the Seacrest era that comes to mind is Iggy Azalea who hit back-to-back with "Fancy" and "Problem" (despite being featured in the latter).

Occasionally they'll play the top 3 optional extra but that's it. The Optional Extras are just that. They're freestanding segments that stations have the "option" of playing. Stations may play some or all of them. Stations may choose to sell the time for extra advertising. In your case, your station may opt to pad the time with more "location appropriate" content. And has their ever been an artist who had a number one song, and after it was knocked off replaced by the same artist? Sam Smith was at #3 but "Latch" was at its peak and never made #1. Just curious In 1978, the Bee Gees replaced themselves at #1 ("Night Fever" replaced "Stayin' Alive"). It's happened twice during the Seacrest era. OutKast replaced themselves in 2004 with "The Way You Move" replacing "Hey Ya!". Last year, Iggy Azalea was featured on Ariana Grande's "Problem" which replaced Iggy's own "Fancy" at #1.

Sam Smith was at #3 but "Latch" was at its peak and never made #1. Just curious In 1979, the Bee Gees replaced themselves at #1 ("Night Fever" replaced "Stayin' Alive"). Actually, the Bee Gees' feat occurred in 1978, not 1979. (That occurred in Radio & Records, but not Billboard which of course AT40 used in 1978; there the Bee Gees were interrupted by their own brother Andy Gibb, with "Love Is Thicker Than Water".) The two Outkast #1s were incidentally the first two #1's of the Seacrest AT40 era ("Hey Ya"! was Casey Kasem's last #1.) Since then, Mariah Carey and Chris Brown came close to doing that but were interrupted by DHT and Sara Bareilles, respectively. In the official Mediabase chart archives (according to Pop Radio Top 20), Adam Levine had back to back #1's in 2011 with "Moves Like Jagger" and "Stereo Hearts", but on AT40 Adele's "Someone Like You" topped the chart in between them.

Another Two For One for Fifth Harmony? They just had theirs two weeks ago when they played "Miss Movin' On". Not complaining, but it would be nice to see someone else get the Two For One spot, although AT40 didn't really have a choice.

Yeah...1978 is what I meant. ;) And, yes, while the Billboard case (the Gibb pile-up) is the real AT40 history, the R&R history is what's cited as the "official" history, today.

Unlikely though #5 only AT40 hit #6 Has 2 for 1 #7 maybe "Love Me Harder" could have been if(would have continued Ariania's streak) #8 Habits (Stay High) would have been good #9 He hosted a few weeks ago so I don't think so #10 had 2 for 1 last week This is why they should have the 2 for 1 available for songs up too 15 or even the whole chart. It becomes limited If there's no or little movement in the top 10

On occasion, they HAVE placed the Two For One outside of the top 10, but it's been a very rare occurrence. Why they insist on constraining the feature to the fourth hour, I'll never know.

I like "Sledgehammer." I think it was their best single so I'm glad it's getting an extra spin this week.

From the looks of things, and with a Mediabase insight, it appears that we'd rather have a "cool" summer than one that "hurts". Strange that Trap Queen already fell off here when it is still in the top 40 on today's Mediabase chart. This weekend we had some fun. and some Fun. We heard about Uma Thurman and Marvin Gaye. I wonder how many top 40 hits mention another musician in the title. I can also think of Sir Duke, and Moves Like Jagger.

Just got to listening to some of the show. Ryan addressed why Bebe Rexha wasn't on the list of features originally for Hey Mama, It was because the label felt there were too many features and it was too long. But apparently Bebe asked David Guetta to be included and eventually got on the list of features, and now indeed Ryan introduced the song has Hey Mama by David Guetta featuring Nicki Minaj, Bebe Rexha and Afrojack.
He didn't introduce #39, and he didn't have to it because it starts with "you already know who it is, Silento". Holy crap that song is annoying.

Buddy Holly A Fifth of Beethoven Forgot About Dre When Smokey Sings Thanks for that. Beethoven reminded me of Rock Me Amadeus. I agree with Arnold about the intros. BTW, Ryan also gave credit to Kendrick Lamar, in addition to Taylor, at #1 this past weekend.

Honorable mention to "Brian Wilson" by Barenaked Ladies. It missed the top 40, but it came close (#43). Uma Thurman's not a musician. If we expand the breadth of the topic to celebrities name-dropped in song titles, we can add "James Dean (I Wanna Know)" by Daniel Bedingfield and "Clint Eastwood" by Gorillaz.

One of the many things to be missed about Casey. He'd always front and back-announce, both, song title and artist(s) and tell us the chart movement. That's the right way to do it, Ryan. ;)

I wonder how many top 40 hits mention another musician in the title. I can also think of Sir Duke, and Moves Like Jagger. In 1964 there was an instrumental called "Ringo's Theme", by George Martin. It only reached #53 on Hot 100, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.
