The most recent albums by 2 of Nashville's best female singer-songwriters. Kacey Musgraves' Pageant Material vs. Ashley Monroe's The Blade. Which album is better?

The Blade, easily. I love Kacey's music a lot and Pageant Material is a great album, but Ashley Monroe has her beat vocally and I think both the production work and the songwriting on Monroe's stuff is a bit stronger as well.

I'm going w/ by Ashley Monroe. I'm not a fan of Pageant Material at all, whereas The Blade has more songs that I could see myself listening to. Aside from Dime Store Cowgirl, Kacey's doesn't do anything for me.

I gotta go with Ashley here. Kacey's album is excellent but I was blown away how good The Blade was. I mean, I knew it would be great but it exceeded my expectations and the title track is the best song I've heard this year. Justin Niebank and Vince Gill's production was stellar and Ashely's vocals and songwriting are superb, especially her vocals.

I find it funny that Pageant Material is winning by over half the votes and yet all the responses have been for Ashley.
Anyway, I went with Kacey. Ashleys suffered from being a little too polished for me at times, where Kacey suffered from some songs just sounding too much alike. Both of them are great albums.
I give Pageant Material a 4/5 and The Blade a 3.5/5

Can't choose, won't choose. Both are masterpieces.

Both albums are stellar, but Ashley gets my vote.
The songwriting, vocals and production hit my "sweet spot" as a Country fan more than Kacey's album does.

This is such a hard decision. These are my two favorite albums of the entire year (and some of my favorite albums ever for that matter) and both are incredible. I'll give it to Ashley for now but I'll likely go back and forth between the two for a while.

Kacey, by a lot. I don't like Ashley's vocals.
