Ok... this was actually pretty good and I might have to revisit some of the songs and add them on rotation.
This may be a controversial opinion -- but for all the complaints about JLo's singing, I find it ironic that the biggest girl in music today (Taylor) has similar vocal abilities as JLo. This album and her singing are fine. It's no Adele, but she's not trying to be.

Go J Lo! This album is so good. I never noticed how bad her voice is, but I don’t care because almost every song is good. I love “not going anywhere”, “Hearts and Flowers”, “Greatest Love Story” and the lead and title track. I’ve always liked her and I hope this does well for her.

I listened to the album and nothing really grabbed my attention. In my honest opinion, This Is Me...Then is her best album and body of work, so I was looking forward to This Is Me...Now, however I was disappointed with the final results. I was bit shocked and surprised to see Cory Rooney had nothing to do with this project at all. I always felt he bought the best out in her musically and they had good chemistry especially since he's responsible for This Is Me...Then. Did they have a fallen out ? What's the story behind that?

Hearts and Flowers is so good!
And Dear Ben Part II!
Honestly loving every song so far, it’s better than everything she’s released since on the floor!
I keep mixing in tracks like Dear Ben Part 1 and Baby I Love U to see if it messes with the flow of the new album and I am honestly enjoying it, it’s holding up well!

Just finished listening to the album. It's a pretty good album. It doesn't top her first five albums for me. Those still hold great nostalgia for me, especially "J.Lo" and "This Is Me..Then", but I do think it's a lot stronger and cohesive than her last two "A.K.A" and "Love?". My fave tracks are "Mad Love", "Hummingbird", "This Time Around", "Can't Get Enough", and "Midnight Trip To Vegas".

My poor bank account... Everyone is touring this summer it seems. And they are all charging double for the same seats as their last tours.

Just finished the movie, it was so campy and ridiculous. I can't say it was good storywise, but it was entertaining visually.
I'm mad she dropped this during Aquarius season and acted like we don't even exist. No presence on the Zodiac council! She left out Capricorns too, but they know what they did, lol.

Watched the movie… it’s like a long videoclip. I enjoyed it. Not happy about the shade to Libras, we are not like that at all.

The problem with J.Lo's voice has nothing to do with her range. It's always been her tone. When she's not produced properly, it's whiny, mewling, sour. And unfortunately a lot of her discography has bad vocal production. Taylor ain't a vocalist either, but she does a much better job of utilizing her voice and at the very least sounding pleasant.

This right here! Sometimes JLo has good tone, but she is just not consistent. To me, JLo’s voice is similar to Janet. But Janet has a very sweet, smooth and velvety tone that makes her songs very pleasant to listen to. With J Lo the harshness and sourness of her tone can grate your nerves half the time. Nevertheless, I still very much like JLo.

People complain about how "bad" her voice is when the biggest "artist" in music today has the same vocal abilities if not even lower!!! As mentioned, it is the tone. But also the lack of staying in tune. All that being said, the main issues stem from her voice not being HER voice. She is a product of demo and background vocalists and her label has allowed her to take credit for vocals that are not hers. It’s well documented in many, many cases (YouTube searches will give you examples of Play, I’m real, ain’t it funny, Jenny from the block, and more). She’s gotten away with something that most artists would be crucified for if it were publicly know. For better (now) or worse (years ago), Taylor’s voice has always been Taylor’s voice.

Oh my god. Not this tired ass & straight up WRONG narrative.
Background vocalists are the norm in the music industry. Every single background vocalist that worked on her albums were credited and paid. And they never said otherwise. She wasn’t “getting away” with anything because she wasn’t doing anything wrong or illegal.
If anything, she gets unfair criticism for doing something EVERY artist past or present has done.
Some of the most iconic and signature hits artists have in their catalog feature another person singing the hook entirely or with the artist.
I always feel like I’m in an alternate reality when this is discussed. Y’all saw videos from bootleg bloggers full of misinformation and ran with it.

Every artist has not done that. Arguably her biggest hit has the chorus sung by someone else. I wouldn’t say that’s common. And it’s a tired narrative for a reason. It’s based in reality.

This thread always turns negative when a certain fanbase arrives. I thought they didn’t know her. 😩
I played this album a couple times yesterday and there are definitely a few tracks I prefer the most but every song was enjoyable to me. Looking forward to keeping this on repeat throughout the year.

It is a tired narrative because it's a LIE. She didn't steal anything, the singers were credited and paid. And it's still her voice on those songs. Like, imagine listening to the acapella of I'm Real here and then spewing the lie that she's not singing her own song. Ashanti only sings background on the chorus WITH Jennifer. Yet the narrative is that Ashanti sang her songs and is the reason for her career. That is not based in reality at all. There are far more artists that have done it vs artists who haven't. Especially in the 90's and 2000's, the era she's from. Background vocalists were a staple during that period of music. Yet, it's she who gets unfair criticism and straight up lies spewed about it. On The Floor is also her biggest hit.

Look at any post on any social media platform or website regarding JLo and lambs are always there first. We only get a break during Christmas because that's when they're most preoccupied. Anyway, what's your current top 5?.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I have a serious question/observation about the whole issue with the background singers at the time.
Clearly on the choruses of the original album version of ‘Ain’t It Funny’, I’m Real’ and the remix, the would be backing singers are turned up, while JLo does mostly adlibs, right? But I have always wondered why they made that stylistic choice?
I would love to hear versions of the songs where JLos voice is turned up and used more. Because the notes and lines are definitely not out of her range to sing, and they are her songs. I’ve always just wondered why since she sounds so great on similarly tempoed songs where it is just her.

I didn't know until years later that she was on it. It always just sounded like Jennifer singing the hook by herself or with her vocals layered. They sound similar to one another. You have to REALLY listen closely to make that distinction lol. Idk why on the two originals they had them do the chorus when Jennifer was more than capable. But that was the norm back then, even for stronger vocalists. Toni Braxton for example doesn't sing the chorus to "He Wasn't Man Enough For Me" at all. Monica doesn't sing the chorus to "First Night" etc.

I've always wondered if the amount of backing vocalists singing the choruses on the J. Lo album was because Tommy Mottolla wanted to get that album out as quickly as possible. So that was one way to get it done fast was to have Jennifer do leads on the verses and some ad-libs and simultaneously record the backing vocals and other parts to get done quickly.

OK, finally listening to this. This sound fits Jennifer the best. It's definitely her most cohesive and best overall album in a decade at least, so I am happy for her. She is really all in with Ben and it shows. If this is her swan song, I applaud her for going out on a high note. No embarrassments to be found here. I also like how she uses her voice on this album. I give it a solid B-.
1. Rebound (Star of the album, She is trying her hand at Caution, I see. I fuck with it. The Ben cameo was a jump-scare at first though, LOL) 2. Not.Going.Anywhere (Oh my, this is flawless.) 3. Can't Get Enough 4. To Be Yours 5. Hearts and Flowers 6. Mad In Love 7. Broken Like Me (I like this a lot more than I thought I would. Sing, Jenny!) 8. Dear Ben Pt. II (10000% times better than the original, which I legit erased from my mind.) 9. This Is Me...Now 10. Greatest Love Story Never Told 11. This Time Around 12. Midnight Trip To Vegas 13. Hummingbird

I listened to the album. Was decent, a few songs I would go back for. Maybe some hits or two. Nothing game changing or revolutionary, but it was a decent listen still! Wishing her the best and will watch her movie/doc shortly!

This is so well-produced! Keeping the producer circle small was really the way to go and the best part of this project. Nowadays, albums are like Frankenstein's monster - stitched and cobbled together. Also, Jenny's vocal producers did her well. She has every reason to be proud of this album. I bump my score up to a solid B. Very enjoyable listen.
