Do the spaces represent the commercial breaks? If it does, that is great, I can use that information. If not, why are they there?

My reaction - what in the world just happened? I'm basically angry with this chart. This is legit the most boring one all year. - Andy Grammer is a surprise guest host out of Nowhereland, which is probably a first. What happened, oh mighty Ryan?
- It's also quite fitting how "Keep Your Head Up" was played last week as the Two For One, his only song to chart before "Honey I'm Good".
- The two biggest droppers (only by 5) were #1s, while "Marvin Gaye" is the biggest jump by only 4. ONLY 4!!!!
- I admire these random extras again, what with "Drunk In Love", "Try" and "Rich Girl", but I wish Ryan or whoever organizes this would stop being like "I don't care, let's just randomly put it somewhere in our four-hour show and not announce the song because ALL of our viewers are geniuses! Whoop-dee-doo!" Please, sister! What if like, a listener is new to the show, and they don't recognize that extra. I'm not trying to be offensive, but for real.
- As for the Two For One, I don't like the choice of "Get Low", a song that failed to make the 40. Selena Gomez should've had it, now that she entered the Top 10. "Naturally", her very first hit, would be a stupendous choice.
- Again, seeing this week's survey makes me feel like I should've been born in the '80s and listen to all these songs just come and go like seasons. Heck, I'll even put a classic chart and compare it to this week's.
40. Smokey Robinson - One Heartbeat (debut) 39. L.L. Cool J - I Need Love (debut) 38. Jellybean ft. Elisa Fiorillo - Who Found Who (debut) 37. Freddie Jackson - Jam Tonight (debut) 36. Bananarama - I Heard A Rumour (debut) 35. Jonathan Butler - Lies (debut) 34. Nylons - Kiss Him Goodbye (down 16, 10 weeks)33. Danny Wilson - Mary's Prayer (up 3, 3 weeks) 32. Grateful Dead - Touch Of Grey (debut) 31. Outfield - Since You've Been Gone (up 2, 4 weeks) 30. Fat Boys & Beach Boys - Wipeout (up 9, 2 weeks) 29. Klymaxx - I'd Still Say Yes (down 7, 9 weeks) 28. Whitney Houston - I Wanna Dance With Somebody (down 10, 14 weeks)*27. Sammy Hagar - Give To Live (up 5, 3 weeks) 26. Whitesnake - Here I Go Again (up 8, 2 weeks)* 25. Whitney Houston - Didn't We Almost Have It All (up 15, 2 weeks)* 24. ABC - When Smokey Sings (up 5, 3 weeks) 23. Huey Lewis & The News - Doing It All For My Baby (up 5, 3 weeks) 22. Fleetwood Mac - Seven Wonders (up 1, 7 weeks) 18. Robbie Nevil - Wot's It To Ya (down 8, 8 weeks) 17. Heart - Alone (down 8, 13 weeks)* 16. Michael Jackson ft. Siedah Garrett - I Just Can't Stop Loving You (up 21, 2 weeks)*15. Dionne Warwick & Jeffrey Osborne - Love Power (up 6, 4 weeks) 14. Starship - It's Not Over (Til It's Over) (up 5, 5 weeks) 13. Steve Winwood - Back In The High Life Again (up 3, 7 weeks) 12. Bob Seger - Shakedown (down 9, 12 weeks)* 11. Whispers - Rock Steady (up 3, 6 weeks) 10. Gloria Estefan & Miami Sound Machine - Rhythm Is Gonna Get You (down 4, 10 weeks) 9. Debbie Gibson - Only In My Dreams (up 4, 8 weeks) 8. Jets - Cross My Broken Heart (<->, 8 weeks) 7. Richard Marx - Don't Mean Nothing (up 5, 6 weeks) 6. T'Pau - Heart And Soul (down 2, 11 weeks) 5. Los Lobos - La Bamba (up 6, 5 weeks) 4. Suzanne Vega - Luka (up 1, 7 weeks) 3. George Michael - I Want Your Sex (down 1, 9 weeks) 2. Madonna - Who's That Girl (up 5, 5 weeks) 1. U2 - I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For (<->, 9 weeks) Droppers: Motley Crue - Girls Girls Girls (#24, 9 weeks) Bryan Adams - Hearts On Fire (#26, 6 weeks) Crowded House - Something So Strong (#27, 11 weeks) Expose - Point Of No Return (#30, 11 weeks) The System - Don't Disturb This Groove (#31, 13 weeks) Surface - Happy (#35, 8 weeks) Psuedo Echo - Funkytown (#38, 10 weeks) Well, that ought to get off my chest. Phew

Just my guess (i.e. Ryan's absence) but perhaps it had to do with the recent announcement that Seacrest will be returning to NBC's Olympics coverage next summer and Grammer was a last-second replacement.
Again, this is just a guess.

What a boring week, you know its bad when the biggest mover is only 4 spots
Why is Andy Grammar hosting? I mean I like Andy and all but there was no announcement in last week's show?
Still no extra from Vance Joy or Britney Spears.

This really must have been a last minute decision for a guest host. Usually, the first two hour's optional extras are songs by the guest host.
Good chart, but indeed, a very boring week.

Still no extra from Vance Joy or Britney Spears. As discussed before, it was probably a last minute necessity. When the guest hosts are announced in advance, it's probably because Ryan's given notice that he'll be out, whether for business or pleasure. This time, probably either something came up suddenly requiring his attention (Olympics related, maybe?), or illness or some other personal matter meant he had to suddenly cancel, and Andy Grammer was willing and available and passed muster with the producers as a potential host. More than some other guest hosts, I'm actually interested in how he'll do. As someone whose fame so far is confined to music and isn't overexposed (only two AT40 hits thus far), he might keep his talk largely to the music and chart, and perhaps tell us some things about him or the songs that we don't know. At least he probably won't spend four hours shilling a particular TV show or movie.

Yeah, I should've posted the chart date . This was what happened on AT40 exactly 28 years ago on 8/15/87. I also forgot to put asterisks to indicate that hit #1.

Maybe Ryan just suddenly got sick or something? Interestingly, in a rare occurrence this week, the Hot AC version of AT40 is a lot more active with one song dropping 17 spots, and one song moving up 11 spots, with several other decent movers in both directions. Despite just one debut as well, it looks like a bit of a catch up week there.

I think it would've been funny if Andy would've said something like this after #34: "That's Charlie Puth and Meghan Trainor, Marvin Gaye, this week's Biggest Mover, up… (paper flips) …four? Hmm. Up four to #34!"

Andy did a good job guest hosting this week. He seemed like he wanted to be there and didn't do as many why Ryan wasn't there jokes.

Since Andy Grammer wasn't announced in advance, I wonder how he got people to ask him questions. We know that the questions didn't come in during the show, of course. So it was a strange week indeed. I think SUMMERTHING! needs more emphasis. How about SUMMERTHING!? Cheerleader gets 2 weeks atop this chart.

Both Carson Daly and Seacrest on vacation this week from counting down the hits. Carson did announce his vacation in advance.
