Yeasayer - Ecstatic Baby (bangwave, #1) vs. Black Mountain - Future Shade (peacebone, #8) both of these were really cool, future shade narrowly wins
Weyes Blood - Movies (Red, #1) vs. BEAST IN BLACK - From Hell With Love (dr.indie, #8) movies is probably in my top 10 favourite songs of the year so it was going to take a mammoth of a song to beat it, from hell with love wasn't my cup of tea tbh
The Claypool Lennon Delirium - Amethyst Realm (shazam, #1) vs. Jordan Rakei - Mind’s Eye (Beno, #8) both of these were cool, went with the underdog
SOAK - Knock Me Off My Feet (BlurryFaceKyle, #1) vs. (Sandy) Alex G - Gretel (disassociative, #8)
Weyes Blood - A Lot's Gonna Change (Lordeftones, #1) vs. Tame Impala - Patience (MoD, #8) no contest
Volbeat - Last Day Under The Sun (dr.indie, #1) vs. The Twilight Sad - I/m Not Here [Missing Face] (willapted33, #8) don't really care if my song wins here, it's definitely the one i care about the least outta my 8 but yeah i'd still take it here slightly
La Dispute - Footsteps at the Pond (American Idiot, #1) vs. Origami Button – Sorbet (wheatsquares33, #8)
Local Natives - When Am I Gonna Lose You (Local Native, #1) vs. Cult of Luna - The Silent Man (shazam, #8) pizza hut f

Yeasayer - Ecstatic Baby (bangwave, #1) [5] vs. Black Mountain - Future Shade (peacebone, #8) [7.5 Don't usually dislike Yeasayer but this one annoyed me. Future Shade had very FIERCE vibes for me.
Weyes Blood - Movies (Red, #1) [9.1] vs. BEAST IN BLACK - From Hell With Love (dr.indie, #8) [6.1] Good luck on getting me to vote against Weyes Blood in this tournament, though I didn't think the bargain bin Iron Maiden song was bad.
The Claypool Lennon Delirium - Amethyst Realm (shazam, #1) [8.6] vs. Jordan Rakei - Mind’s Eye (Beno, #8) [6.5]
SOAK - Knock Me Off My Feet (BlurryFaceKyle, #1) [7.2] vs. (Sandy) Alex G - Gretel (disassociative, #8) [6.7] Knock was a breezy little ditty that I quite enjoyed. Gretel van fleet was fine, not a fan of Alex G's vocals though.
Weyes Blood - A Lot's Gonna Change (Lordeftones, #1) [9.2] vs. Tame Impala - Patience (MoD, #8) [9] This is for Cromartie.
Volbeat - Last Day Under The Sun (dr.indie, #1) vs. The Twilight Sad - I/m Not Here [Missing Face] (willapted33, #8)
La Dispute - Footsteps at the Pond (American Idiot, #1) [Yikes] vs. Origami Button – Sorbet (wheatsquares33, #8) Local Natives - When Am I Gonna Lose You (Local Native, #1) vs. Cult of Luna - The Silent Man (shazam, #8)

Yeasayer - Ecstatic Baby (bangwave, #1) vs. Black Mountain - Future Shade (peacebone, #8) (I was kind of surprised by how much I enjoyed "Ecstatic Baby", quite funky and fun...but wow, "Future Shade" just freaking rules)
Weyes Blood - Movies (Red, #1) vs. BEAST IN BLACK - From Hell With Love (dr.indie, #8) (really liked parts of "From Hell with Love", actually...but let's be honest with ourselves, you know what I'm voting for)
The Claypool Lennon Delirium - Amethyst Realm (shazam, #1) vs. Jordan Rakei - Mind’s Eye (Beno, #8) (I want to be in a better mood and feel better at one point ant just JAM to "Amethyst Realm", seems like one of those songs that would be perfect to just lose yourself to for seven minutes..."Mind's Eye" was a nice change of pace, but I know where my heart lies)
SOAK - Knock Me Off My Feet (BlurryFaceKyle, #1) vs. (Sandy) Alex G - Gretel (disassociative, #8) (spoiler: I would have voted for "Gretel" against every #1 except my own)
Weyes Blood - A Lot's Gonna Change (Lordeftones, #1) vs. Tame Impala - Patience (MoD, #8) (this is a brutal, brutal matchup...but I'm likely going to vote for "Patience" against just about any other song, and as good as "A Lot's Gonna Change" is, I haven't connected to it on the same level just yet)
Volbeat - Last Day Under The Sun (dr.indie, #1) vs. The Twilight Sad - I/m Not Here [Missing Face] (willapted33, #8) (had this been "Leviathan" instead of "Last Day Under the Sun", I would have had a really hard time with this vote)
La Dispute - Footsteps at the Pond (American Idiot, #1) vs. Origami Button – Sorbet (wheatsquares33, #8) (I don't like the mixing on "Footsteps at the Pond", the vocals are so hidden...but I like everything else about the song...I really like the verse instrumental in "Sorbet", there's a lot to take in...this vote was kind of tough)
Local Natives - When Am I Gonna Lose You (Local Native, #1) vs. Cult of Luna - The Silent Man (shazam, #8) (I thought that "When Am I Gonna Lose You" was fine, but that chorus was the clear highlight...I love me some good falsetto (key word "good")...meanwhile, "The Silent Man" could go for 20 minutes, and I don't think it would wear out its welcome...these are actually pretty close, but I went with the underdog)

ROCK TOURNAMENT: SUMMERTIME MADNESS 2019
ROUND 1, SET 1: #1s VS. #8s, PART ONE (RESULTS)
Please note that these results are NOT final. MoD suffered an injury and will be late, but I will be accepting his vote, because I know he intended to submit before he got hurt.
Yeasayer - Ecstatic Baby (bangwave, #1) (3) vs. Black Mountain - Future Shade (peacebone, #8) (13) -- A couple of songs took care of their matchups in a big, BIG way. The first was "Future Shade", which wiped the floor with "Ecstatic Baby".
Weyes Blood - Movies (Red, #1) (11) vs. BEAST IN BLACK - From Hell With Love (dr.indie, #8) (5) -- Don't let the final vote total fool you...this was close for quite a bit of the vote.
The Claypool Lennon Delirium - Amethyst Realm (shazam, #1) (13) vs. Jordan Rakei - Mind’s Eye (Beno, #8) (3) -- Another blowout winner, and this one surprised me, despite the song facing it. Apparently, Les Claypool CAN get a large majority of support from Pulse after all.
SOAK - Knock Me Off My Feet (BlurryFaceKyle, #1) (6) vs. (Sandy) Alex G - Gretel (disassociative, #8) (10) -- This was one of the closest votes of the set, and it was only late that "Gretel" was able to do just enough to pull away.
Weyes Blood - A Lot's Gonna Change (Lordeftones, #1) (9) vs. Tame Impala - Patience (MoD, #8) (7) -- The matchup that I anticipated would be the closest matchup of the set, indeed, wound up being the closest matchup. This was a knock down, drag-out fight...but Weyes Blood was able to pull off a bit of a surprise in knocking out "Patience".
Volbeat - Last Day Under The Sun (dr.indie, #1) (6) vs. The Twilight Sad - I/m Not Here [Missing Face] (willapted33, #8) (10) -- Meanwhile, here's a matchup that I thought WOULD be close and wasn't. The Twilight Sad moves on.
La Dispute - Footsteps at the Pond (American Idiot, #1) (6) vs. Origami Button – Sorbet (wheatsquares33, #8) (10) -- This was a good matchup from both sides, but in the end, Origami Button gets its choice of creamery.
Local Natives - When Am I Gonna Lose You (Local Native, #1) (10) vs. Cult of Luna - The Silent Man (shazam, #8) (6) -- This vote, meanwhile, wasn't as close as the totals suggest, I'd say, but Local Natives dealt with more of a fight than I expected.
A reminder that the first round will have three day deadlines, while every subsequent round will have two day deadlines. This means that the deadline day for voting is Friday, July 12th. The deadline time will be the same in every round: 8pm US Eastern, which should be around the time that I post every new set.
If you did not submit, you are still allowed to vote! The voting process is not exclusive to those who submitted songs, hence why posters who didn't submit this time are still being tagged. If you wish to be removed from the tag list, though, I will do so without further questions.
ROUND 1, SET #2: #1s VS. #8s, PART TWO Weyes Blood - Picture Me Better (willapted33, #1) vs. Hands Like Houses - Sick (janinho, #8) Hatchie - Kiss the Stars (peacebone, #1) vs. Melody's Echo Chamber - Breathe in, Breathe Out (Daryl, #8) Kurt Travis - Easy Peasy (lyhom, #1) vs. Caroline Polachek - Door (Red, #8) Rammstein - Radio (janinho, #1) vs. Daddylap - Lights Out (BlurryFaceKyle, #8) PLTS – Without You (wheatsquares33, #1) vs. Clairo - Bags (lyhom, #8) Hatchie - Stay With Me (disassociative, #1) vs. Bob Mould - Sunshine Rock (American Idiot, #8) Skegss - Up In The Clouds (Beno, #1) vs. The Faint - Child Asleep (bangwave, #8) Weyes Blood - Everyday (Daryl, #1) vs. Night Riots - Tokyo Diamond Eyes (Local Native, #8) Skyward Pines - A Poem (MoD, #1) vs. Japanese Breakfast - Essentially (Lordeftones, #8)

Weyes Blood - Picture Me Better (willapted33, #1) (strong 7) vs. Hands Like Houses - Sick (janinho, #8) (strong 7) This is close, this is probably the best Weyes Blood song yet but I saw Hands Like Houses live the other day and they went off, it really improved my opinion on the band
Hatchie - Kiss the Stars (peacebone, #1) (light 8) vs. Melody's Echo Chamber - Breathe in, Breathe Out (Daryl, #8) (decent 7) I don't think I'll be voting against Hatchie very often here lol
Kurt Travis - Easy Peasy (lyhom, #1) (strong 7) vs. Caroline Polachek - Door (Red, #8) (decent 7)
Rammstein - Radio (janinho, #1) (light 7) vs. Daddylap - Lights Out (BlurryFaceKyle, #8) (light 7) This one is honestly a toss of a coin, going for the underdog here
PLTS – Without You (wheatsquares33, #1) (light 7) vs. Clairo - Bags (lyhom, #8) (decent 7)
Hatchie - Stay With Me (disassociative, #1) (decent 8) vs. Bob Mould - Sunshine Rock (American Idiot, #8) (strong 6) In my first draft for this "Stay With Me" was my 4 seed, so "Sunshine Rock" had a very steep hill to climb
Skegss - Up In The Clouds (Beno, #1) (light 9) vs. The Faint - Child Asleep (bangwave, #8) (decent 6)
Weyes Blood - Everyday (Daryl, #1) (light 7) vs. Night Riots - Tokyo Diamond Eyes (Local Native, #8) (light 6) The worst Weyes Blood song yet, but I've never really cared for Night Riots all that much, sorry James
Skyward Pines - A Poem (MoD, #1) (light 8) vs. Japanese Breakfast - Essentially (Lordeftones, #8) (light 8) (real talk this was easily the hardest matchup of the set)

The way this is starting out it looks to be Weyes Blood v.s Weyes Blood to win this "Rock Tournament" contest? ROUND 1, SET #1: #1s VS. #8s, PART TWOWeyes Blood - Picture Me Better (willapted33, #1) vs. Hands Like Houses - Sick (janinho, #8) "Picture Me Better". I played this for me mom and she told me to Download it for her playlist. She said it reminded her of those old 50's black n white films. I really wouldn't know, but I'll take her word on it. What I really really would like to know is what genre this band falls into? Hatchie - Kiss the Stars (peacebone, #1) vs. Melody's Echo Chamber - Breathe in, Breathe Out (Daryl, #8) Sounds like The Cranberries with 80's production. Not bad at all. Melody's Echo Chamber also has nice vocals. Hatchie is a tad more aesthetic. Kurt Travis - Easy Peasy (lyhom, #1) vs. Caroline Polachek - Door (Red, #8) Very nice bassline on "Easy Peasy", but the female vocals win me over. This one sounds like much more acceptable pop music to me. Not bad at all. Rammstein - Radio (janinho, #1) vs. Daddylap - Lights Out (BlurryFaceKyle, #8) I enjoyed "Lights Out Lights Out" so much, and female vocals. damn! This vote was closer than you think. PLTS – Without You (wheatsquares33, #1) vs. Clairo - Bags (lyhom, #8) Interesting how many of you submitted female vocal songs for this tournament . Not complaining tho. Hatchie - Stay With Me (disassociative, #1) vs. Bob Mould - Sunshine Rock (American Idiot, #8) I liked the other Hatchie song, but this one can't prevail over a song titled " Sunshine Rock"Skegss - Up In The Clouds (Beno, #1) vs. The Faint - Child Asleep (bangwave, #8) Skegss vocals didn't gel with me. "Child Asleep" had some nice effects, but was a bit toooooooo "cluby", but I still dug the vocals without any problem. Weyes Blood - Everyday (Daryl, #1) vs. Night Riots - Tokyo Diamond Eyes (Local Native, #8) This my fav Weyes Blood song. Not too Lullaby-ish, but still very 70's. I recall Night Riots having more 80's vibes? What happened here? Skyward Pines - A Poem (MoD, #1) vs. Japanese Breakfast - Essentially (Lordeftones, #8) "A Poem" isn't for me, but "Essentially" kinda took by surprise Definitely falls into Retro New Wave genre.

Weyes Blood - Picture Me Better (willapted33, #1) vs. Hands Like Houses - Sick (janinho, #8) Again, hard to vote against Weyes. Sick is one of the better active tracks though.
Hatchie - Kiss the Stars (peacebone, #1) vs. Melody's Echo Chamber - Breathe in, Breathe Out (Daryl, #8) Wow, wow, wow. Was expecting to vote for my pick, but Kiss the Stars was such a great first listen. I did like Without a Blush, but Stay with Me was even better, and Kiss the Stars is excellent too. You know what? I'm voting against my pick.
Kurt Travis - Easy Peasy (lyhom, #1) vs. Caroline Polachek - Door (Red, #8) Easy Peasy gets an easy vote for me. Starts off with a great bassline and the remainder of the song was great too. Door was a bit too repetitive, but not bad overall.
Rammstein - Radio (janinho, #1) vs. Daddylap - Lights Out (BlurryFaceKyle, #8) Intro for Lights Out hooked me in, but the vocals were a bit grating. Going with Rammstein.
PLTS – Without You (wheatsquares33, #1) vs. Clairo - Bags (lyhom, #8) Gaahhh another difficult matchup. Clairo's vocals are great! Without You also had a heavier instrumentation I appreciate. I guess I'll go with PLTS.
Hatchie - Stay With Me (disassociative, #1) vs. Bob Mould - Sunshine Rock (American Idiot, #8) Sunshine Rock kicked ass, but it's hard to vote against Stay with Me.
Skegss - Up In The Clouds (Beno, #1) vs. The Faint - Child Asleep (bangwave, #8) Two more great listens. Going with the one with more guitars again.
Weyes Blood - Everyday (Daryl, #1) vs. Night Riots - Tokyo Diamond Eyes (Local Native, #8) Tokyo Diamond Eyes was nice but not enough for me to vote against my song, unlike Hatchie/MEC.
Skyward Pines - A Poem (MoD, #1) vs. Japanese Breakfast - Essentially (Lordeftones, #8) And we end off with two more good picks. A Poem was pretty relaxing, I like it a lot, and Essentially provided some competition. Ultimately I'll still go with Skyward Pines.
Edit: I voted for all the #1 seeds lol

Here uhh I can't format on mobile this website is stupid, I'll post my votes when I get home
Weyes Blood - Picture Me Better (willapted33, #1) (light to decent 7) vs. Hands Like Houses - Sick (janinho, #8) (light to decent 7) So we're Kacey Musgraves-ing Titanic Rising huh. Well at least I like Weyes Blood. Was not too huge on this Hands Like Houses song before, but listening to it now it's pretty great. Weyes Blood is going to be the top 3 here anyhow, might as well support the underdog
Hatchie - Kiss the Stars (peacebone, #1) (light to decent 7) vs. Melody's Echo Chamber - Breathe in, Breathe Out (Daryl, #8) (light to decent 6) Seems like a lot of submissions from Hatchie too, who I've never heard of. This song was pretty alright though. This Melody's Echo Chamber song ain't doing it for me though.
Kurt Travis - Easy Peasy (lyhom, #1) (decent to strong 6) vs. Caroline Polachek - Door (Red, #8) (decent to strong 6) I heard Easy Peasy on discover weekly a couple weeks ago and liked it and considered charting it, but didn't like it enough to actually go through with it, that's where I am still. Door I liked a lot at first, kinda Maggie Rogers sounding, but the chorus got a bit grating. I'm gonna give it to the first one.
Rammstein - Radio (janinho, #1) (decent to strong 7) vs. Daddylap - Lights Out (BlurryFaceKyle, #8) (decent to strong 7) Radio had a cool instrumental for sure, but the vocal performance wasn't all there for me. Lights Out I dug a lot at first, but, like Door, the chorus kinda started getting on my nerves. Still liked it more overall though
PLTS – Without You (wheatsquares33, #1) (strong 8 to light 9) vs. Clairo - Bags (lyhom, #8) (decent to strong 7) Bags was a good first listen, not voting against myself.
Hatchie - Stay With Me (disassociative, #1) (decent to strong 7) vs. Bob Mould - Sunshine Rock (American Idiot, #8) (strong 7 to light 8) Stay with Me was the better Hatchie song here, I liked it. Sunshine Rock was surprisingly good, I don't know why I thought I had heard this before and didn't like it. I like it more than his big charters from the 80s though.
Skegss - Up In The Clouds (Beno, #1) (light to decent 6) vs. The Faint - Child Asleep (bangwave, #8) (light to decent 8) Skeggs sound like amateur Catfish and the Bottlemen trying to go punk. Child Asleep was a very good first listen.
Weyes Blood - Everyday (Daryl, #1) (strong 7 to light 8) vs. Night Riots - Tokyo Diamond Eyes (Local Native, #8) (decent to strong 5) Ah now this is a Weyes Blood song I do actually like a lot. I'll chart this one. Night Riots poppier efforts have never really done much for me, I got this on release radar and skipped as soon as it got to the chorus. Listening to it now I think I like it a bit more, still not a huge fan.
Skyward Pines - A Poem (MoD, #1) (decent to strong 7) vs. Japanese Breakfast - Essentially (Lordeftones, #8) (strong 6 to light 7) I liked the sound Skyward Pines was going for, didn't need to be so long, vocal performance could be better but still a nice first listen. My boyfriend likes Japanese Breakfast a lot, I can not get into them, just totally indistinguishable stuff to me.
Best first listens: Child Asleep, Sunshine Rock, Bags, A Poem, Lights Out, Radio

Weyes Blood - Picture Me Better (willapted33, #1) {7.8} vs. Hands Like Houses - Sick (janinho, #8) {6.5}
Hatchie - Kiss the Stars (peacebone, #1) {7.3} vs. Melody's Echo Chamber - Breathe in, Breathe Out (Daryl, #8) {8.2} One of the worst match-ups Hatchie could have received for me personally; it's up against one of my former Games forum Madness picks
Kurt Travis - Easy Peasy (lyhom, #1) {7} vs. Caroline Polachek - Door (Red, #8) {6.1} Gotta be honest I'm kind of confused why you submitted "Door" to a rock tournament Red lol
Rammstein - Radio (janinho, #1) {5.9} vs. Daddylap - Lights Out (BlurryFaceKyle, #8) {7} "Radio" may be the harder song, but as it just sees Rammstein spinning their wheels, it is "Lights Out" that comes off as more invigorating
PLTS – Without You (wheatsquares33, #1) {8} vs. Clairo - Bags (lyhom, #8) {6.4}
Hatchie - Stay With Me (disassociative, #1) {9} vs. Bob Mould - Sunshine Rock (American Idiot, #8) {7}
Skegss - Up In The Clouds (Beno, #1) {6.2} vs. The Faint - Child Asleep (bangwave, #8) {6.7}
Weyes Blood - Everyday (Daryl, #1) {6.3} vs. Night Riots - Tokyo Diamond Eyes (Local Native, #8) {5} This is probably my least favorite Titanic Rising song, but I still have to vote for it, since TDE got more irritating as it went on
Skyward Pines - A Poem (MoD, #1) {7} vs. Japanese Breakfast - Essentially (Lordeftones, #8)

Weyes Blood - Picture Me Better (willapted33, #1) vs. Hands Like Houses - Sick (janinho, #8) ...WB straddle the line between beautiful & boring; this one leaned more toward beautifulHatchie - Kiss the Stars (peacebone, #1) vs. Melody's Echo Chamber - Breathe in, Breathe Out (Daryl, #8) ...very close here but i'll go w/ the underdog, besides it's a bit weirder & i always like weirdKurt Travis - Easy Peasy (lyhom, #1) vs. Caroline Polachek - Door (Red, #8) ...that voice is so silky! & i like the uncluttered sound - it gets my voteRammstein - Radio (janinho, #1) vs. Daddylap - Lights Out (BlurryFaceKyle, #8) ...well look at that, it's my #2 song of the weekPLTS – Without You (wheatsquares33, #1) vs. Clairo - Bags (lyhom, #8) ...a nice slow rhythmic chug w/ pleasant female vocals - this is the type of song that could easily end up on my personal chartHatchie - Stay With Me (disassociative, #1) vs. Bob Mould - Sunshine Rock (American Idiot, #8) ...felt bad about not voting for Hatchie in the other matchup, to be honest though, this is the superior of the 2 songs (but "Without A Blush" is stll my favorite)...theres nothing wrong with "Sunshine Rock", but BM hit his peak in 1989Skegss - Up In The Clouds (Beno, #1) vs. The Faint - Child Asleep (bangwave, #8) ...i debated whether to select this one or "Alien Angel" (Doc Indie Party Rock i would recommend that one for you) but i think i made the right callWeyes Blood - Everyday (Daryl, #1) vs. Night Riots - Tokyo Diamond Eyes (Local Native, #8) ...always loved NR; going with them even though this is no "Contagious", besids WB will win anywaySkyward Pines - A Poem (MoD, #1) vs. Japanese Breakfast - Essentially (Lordeftones, #8) ...always loved JP, charting their cover of "Head Over Heels" now (T4F not GoGos)

Quick vote from me with limited thoughts, because I haven't been feeling great this week, and I'm only just now starting to feel slightly better.
Weyes Blood - Picture Me Better (willapted33, #1) vs. Hands Like Houses - Sick (janinho, #8) ("Sick" is a solid radio rock song, that's about it)
Hatchie - Kiss the Stars (peacebone, #1) vs. Melody's Echo Chamber - Breathe in, Breathe Out (Daryl, #8) (agonized over this vote for a bit...might change my vote before the deadline)
Kurt Travis - Easy Peasy (lyhom, #1) vs. Caroline Polachek - Door (Red, #8) ("Door" clicked instantly for me, but I have the distinct hunch that it's more of a grower in general)
Rammstein - Radio (janinho, #1) vs. Daddylap - Lights Out (BlurryFaceKyle, #8) (actually liked just about everything in "Lights Out"...except the chorus)
PLTS – Without You (wheatsquares33, #1) vs. Clairo - Bags (lyhom, #8) (I could see myself coming back to "Bags"...not sure if I can say the same for "Without You", though it was fine)
Hatchie - Stay With Me (disassociative, #1) vs. Bob Mould - Sunshine Rock (American Idiot, #8) ("Sunshine Rock" was so solid, though...just facing a near impossible task)
Skegss - Up In The Clouds (Beno, #1) vs. The Faint - Child Asleep (bangwave, #8) ("Child Asleep" kind of rules)
Weyes Blood - Everyday (Daryl, #1) vs. Night Riots - Tokyo Diamond Eyes (Local Native, #8) (sorry, James, "Tokyo Diamond Eyes" did little for me)
Skyward Pines - A Poem (MoD, #1) vs. Japanese Breakfast - Essentially (Lordeftones, #8) ("A Poem" is the best song on the EP, and though "Essentially" was a good listen, it wasn't good enough)

PLTS – Without You (wheatsquares33, #1) vs. Clairo - Bags (lyhom, #8)

ROCK TOURNAMENT: SUMMERTIME MADNESS 2019
ROUND 1, SET 2: #1s VS. #8s, PART ONE (RESULTS)
Weyes Blood - Picture Me Better (willapted33, #1) (6) vs. Hands Like Houses - Sick (janinho, #8) (7) -- Hands Like Houses...wins? Is that right? Huh. I'd say that's a bit of an upset. At any rate, "Sick" is not...well, sick.
Hatchie - Kiss the Stars (peacebone, #1) (11) vs. Melody's Echo Chamber - Breathe in, Breathe Out (Daryl, #8) (2) -- This turned out to be more of a blowout than I was expecting, as Hatchie gets through to the next round for the first time this set.
Kurt Travis - Easy Peasy (lyhom, #1) (8) vs. Caroline Polachek - Door (Red, #8) (5) -- Thank you to the four other people who gave my song a chance. And to those of you wondering why I submitted it when it's not a "rock" song, is it any less Alt than, like, half of the Alt chart currently? Exactly.
Rammstein - Radio (janinho, #1) (4) vs. Daddylap - Lights Out (BlurryFaceKyle, #8) (9) -- Some "underdog", eh? Daddylap takes this matchup without too much trouble.
PLTS – Without You (wheatsquares33, #1) (5) vs. Clairo - Bags (lyhom, #8) (8) -- A close matchup that I actually thought would be close...maybe Redstradamus ISN'T dead. At any rate, Clairo advances.
Hatchie - Stay With Me (disassociative, #1) (9) vs. Bob Mould - Sunshine Rock (American Idiot, #8) (4) -- The four votes for "Sunshine Rock" in the face of a supremely tough matchup makes me wonder what would have happened had it faced another #1 instead. Hatchie doesn't care, she's moving on.
Skegss - Up In The Clouds (Beno, #1) (5) vs. The Faint - Child Asleep (bangwave, #8) (8) -- This was another close matchup, but The Faint did not fall asleep here. I am just full of puns today.
Weyes Blood - Everyday (Daryl, #1) (12) vs. Night Riots - Tokyo Diamond Eyes (Local Native, #8) (1) -- Our biggest blowout so far sees Weyes Blood push three songs into the next round.
Skyward Pines - A Poem (MoD, #1) (8) vs. Japanese Breakfast - Essentially (Lordeftones, #8) (5)
A reminder that the first round will have three day deadlines, while every subsequent round will have two day deadlines. This means that the deadline day for voting is Tuesday, July 16th.
ROUND 1, SET #3: #2s vs #7s, PART ONE Tame Impala - Borderline (Daryl, #2) vs. Die Ärzte - Abschied (janinho, #7) FKA twigs - Cellophane (willapted33, #2) vs. Love Fame Tragedy - My Cheating Heart (BlurryFaceKyle, #7) Rammstein - Deutschland (Red, #2) vs. Meat Puppets - Vampyr's Winged Fantasy (Lordeftones, #7) Skyward Pines - Warm (Beno, #2) vs. Catfish & The Bottlemen - Longshot (MoD, #7) Bilderbuch - Europa 22 (disassociative, #2) vs. A Certain Ratio - Dirty Boy (bangwave, #7) Idiot Pilot - Silver Needle (American Idiot, #2) vs. Ningen Isu - 無情のスキャット (disassociative, #7) Girl Band - Shoulderblades (shazam, #2) vs. Sloth & Turtle - Toys (lyhom, #7) Foals - In Degrees (Local Native, #2) vs. The Y Axes – Moon (wheatsquares33, #7) The Regrettes - I Dare You (BlurryFaceKyle, #2) vs. White Lies - Believe It (dr.indie, #7)

It's late and I have no commentary of meaning. I tried and most of it was "oh this song was okay. So was this other song. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯"
Tame Impala - Borderline (Daryl, #2) (strong 6 to light 7) vs. Die Ärzte - Abschied (janinho, #7) (decent to strong 6)
FKA twigs - Cellophane (willapted33, #2) (light to decent 7) vs. Love Fame Tragedy - My Cheating Heart (BlurryFaceKyle, #7) (decent to strong 7)
Rammstein - Deutschland (Red, #2) (decent to strong 5) vs. Meat Puppets - Vampyr's Winged Fantasy (Lordeftones, #7) (decent to strong 7)
Skyward Pines - Warm (Beno, #2) (decent to strong 6) vs. Catfish & The Bottlemen - Longshot (MoD, #7) (light to decent 7)
Bilderbuch - Europa 22 (disassociative, #2) (light to decent 7) vs. A Certain Ratio - Dirty Boy (bangwave, #7) (strong 6 to light 7)
Idiot Pilot - Silver Needle (American Idiot, #2) (light to decent 8) vs. Ningen Isu - 無情のスキャット (disassociative, #7) (light to decent 7) Silver Needle is very good! I almost charted something by Idiot Pilot earlier this year, though it kinda just bubbled outside my top 100 and didn't end up doing much. I like this one much more than that song though (whose name I can not remember).
Girl Band - Shoulderblades (shazam, #2) (decent to strong 7) vs. Sloth & Turtle - Toys (lyhom, #7) (decent to strong 7)
Foals - In Degrees (Local Native, #2) (light to decent 8) vs. The Y Axes - Moon (wheatsquares33, #7) (light to decent 8) Well shit being up against Foals is almost as bad as being against Weyes Blood. I do like this song though.
The Regrettes - I Dare You (BlurryFaceKyle, #2) (light to decent 8) vs. White Lies - Believe It (dr.indie, #7) (light to decent 7) Oooh really like I Dare You. Kinda sounds like a forgotten Strokes song instrumentally.

Tame Impala - Borderline (Daryl, #2) vs. Die Ärzte - Abschied (janinho, #7) Abschied was pretty interesting but I still think my pick is better.
FKA twigs - Cellophane (willapted33, #2) vs. Love Fame Tragedy - My Cheating Heart (BlurryFaceKyle, #7) Was wondering why the LFT song sounded like a Wombats track, then I realized they both have the same singer, lol. I prefer songs such as "Two Weeks", but Cellophane was pretty good, too.
Rammstein - Deutschland (Red, #2) vs. Meat Puppets - Vampyr's Winged Fantasy (Lordeftones, #7) Was prepared to vote for Rammstein, but the Meat Puppets song turned out to be really impressive, too. Going with the underdog.
Skyward Pines - Warm (Beno, #2) vs. Catfish & The Bottlemen - Longshot (MoD, #7) Warm is another winner from Skyward Pines.
Bilderbuch - Europa 22 (disassociative, #2) vs. A Certain Ratio - Dirty Boy (bangwave, #7) Europa 22 started out great but a few minutes of the outro could've been trimmed. The A Certain Ratio song sounded like discount Franz Ferdinand.
Idiot Pilot - Silver Needle (American Idiot, #2) vs. Ningen Isu - 無情のスキャット (disassociative, #7) Silver Needle surely was an AI peak. The Ningen Isu song as a disassociative pick? Not as much. Still, not a bad song.
Girl Band - Shoulderblades (shazam, #2) vs. Sloth & Turtle - Toys (lyhom, #7) Both were pretty good.
Foals - In Degrees (Local Native, #2) vs. The Y Axes – Moon (wheatsquares33, #7) Moon was another great first listen, but sadly, it's up against "In Degrees".
The Regrettes - I Dare You (BlurryFaceKyle, #2) vs. White Lies - Believe It (dr.indie, #7) I Dare You is a straight-forward guitar jam I can get behind. Believe It is pretty nice, too.

ROUND 1, SET #3: #2s vs #7s, PART ONETame Impala - Borderline (Daryl, #2) vs. Die Ärzte - Abschied (janinho, #7) "Borderline" was pretty good. I got some Roxy Music vibes here and there, but I was really pulled into "Abschied"'s direction especially when the guitars came alive. The worst part was that I couldn't read one damn comment on youutbe. I would love to know what others thought of the song. FKA twigs - Cellophane (willapted33, #2) vs. Love Fame Tragedy - My Cheating Heart (BlurryFaceKyle, #7) "Cellophane" was basically a piano ballad with some percussion sounds. Nice vocals, but isn't really for me, but i wasn't going to click off that music video. "My Cheating Heart" was great. You can hear M.M'. Wombats vocals all over, and basically what brings the song alive to me. I also really liked the female backups. Going for a download check cuz I need new Alternative Rock that I actually want to chart. Rammstein - Deutschland (Red, #2) vs. Meat Puppets - Vampyr's Winged Fantasy (Lordeftones, #7) Are those the same Meat Puppets we just ranked from the 90's? Sounds like "John" Puppet. The song was pretty melodic but took to long to get to the guitars. I'm going with Rammstein cuz of the Neue Deutsche Härte vibe .Skyward Pines - Warm (Beno, #2) vs. Catfish & The Bottlemen - Longshot (MoD, #7) This is a much better song than "A Poem", but I'm not a fan of the band's vocals. "Longshot" is a good song. It didn't quite make my personal chart, but I'm definitely upgrading it come this year's YE rank down. Bilderbuch - Europa 22 (disassociative, #2) vs. A Certain Ratio - Dirty Boy (bangwave, #7) I would have preferred "Europa and the Pirate twins part III". None the less this is still a pleasant song. Maybe bit too Aesthetic for its own good. OOOOHWEEEE! "Dirty Boy" is groovy. Love the bass line, and Franz Ferdinand vocals style. Idiot Pilot - Silver Needle (American Idiot, #2) vs. Ningen Isu - 無情のスキャット (disassociative, #7) I Always expect some form of melodic fire from American Idiot . This one some neat shoegaze elements. We now got some serious Samurai Metallica here. Both songs rock, but I really appreciate the Foreign rock entries, so I'm supporting 無情のスキャット . Girl Band - Shoulderblades (shazam, #2) vs. Sloth & Turtle - Toys (lyhom, #7) With a name like Girl Band I expected a melodic Rock jam with female vocals. I got the complete opposite..... "Toys" would be my pick ans judging by their speaking tones I'm actually glad this was an instrumental. Foals - In Degrees (Local Native, #2) vs. The Y Axes – Moon (wheatsquares33, #7) In Degrees in a good song, but It doesn't need my help to move on to round four. I actually really dug " Moon" even more. First Stand Atlantic now The Y Axes. where are you finding these indiepop sensations? I've been charting songs from the same Paramore, Phases and Pale Waves albums for years now. I need to put out an add saying: Wanted: upbeat female sung indiepop music I actually want to chart. The Regrettes - I Dare You (BlurryFaceKyle, #2) vs. White Lies - Believe It (dr.indie, #7) "I Dare You" is easily a song I would choose under different circumstances, but right now I'm loving White Lies new album. As soon as I'm done with " Tokyo" I'm setting "Believe It" loose on my chart. True story.
