For the last several months, this song has been an underground bootleg that has reportedly been popular in the clubs. On a Donna Summer site, they have reported airplay on a Boston station and New York as well. Now that the song will have an "official" release on Donna Summer's new compilation CD, "The Journey", how successful do you think it will be?
I was suprised at the success of the song. I thought Donna Summer's voice got lost in the mix, but I can't complain considering it's new music from the beloved singer.

I had no idea but I just listened to the Tony Moran remix and it's really good.

yeah i'm listening to the tony moran ultimate mix right now, and this is really good. the mix i have is almost 11 minutes, and i don't know how restructured it is from the radio mix, but i don't really see any dance tracks doing well at pop.
as for summer, i really really dig her version of the andrea bocelli song that she had a hit with several years ago.

stevienice, did you mean "I Will Go With You (Con Te Partiro)" from 1999? I thought Donna Summer laid down a killer note at the end of the song!
If there is anyone not familiar with Donna Summer's past hits, her new compilation, "The Journey" contains ALL of her Top 10 hits as well as most of her Top 40 tracks. It has two new songs as well as "You're So Beautiful".

"I will go with you" it is. she does an amazing job vocally on that song, especially the choruses.
I'm almost afraid to hear what songs are gonna be left off this album, i could see something like "sunset people" being left off, or shorter versions of some of the classics being used. I remember Casablanca, not just with DS, but with all their artists, really ripping consumers off with their 12 inch single releases. If it wasn't the "special dj copy, play other side" that was on the label of their b-sides, or the short versions of "spring affair/winter melody" which they concealed by printing up a fancy jacket for the single, that label did what they could to rip us off. nice to see they're back in Mattola's hands now.

ummm, i dunno, i guess to the average consumer it might not matter, but i can't get used to these short versions especially songs like "Love To Love..." And then I can't understand why they have the 2 new singles at full length yet can only add 2 12 inch mixes on disc 2. that only adds up to 42 minutes, i figured they could throw us a bone and fill that disc up with other extended versions, certainly a lengthy edit of MacArthur's Park or such little treat. whooops, didn't mean to make that an unreadable run-on.

Well, it looks like there was enough interest in "You're So Beautiful" to help make "The Journey" debut at #111 on Billboard's album chart. Pretty impressive for the fourth time a greatest hits album with mostly the same songsby Donna Summer has been released.

After first replying in this thread, I realized I had a copy of my ex's "Anthology" album still here from like 8 years ago. I think I'm gonna settle with that, though she really needs a boxed set if one hasn't been done yet. With "LTLYB" only a couple years away from being 30?!? years old, maybe then finally we will get a good comprehensive collection that includes good exteneded mixes of every song. She really does merit a collection like that.

Since "Bad Girls" is on the album, I'll probably get it! Used, of course, in compliance with my boycott of the RIAA.
