Wow, Trap Queen's longevity is really impressive - it has spent 24 weeks in the top 10 - and it's not even in the top 40 of radio songs! Can you imagine how much more longevity it would have if it actually hit top 10/top 5 on radio?

I really hope Cheerleader can make it to #1 on song of the summer chart. It's no fun to have a depressing song about death as the #1 song of the summer

I really hope Cheerleader can make it to #1 on song of the summer chart. It's no fun to have a depressing song about death as the #1 song of the summer I wouldn't say it's about death. One reason why the song is number 1 on the summer chart is because it's a good graduation song (Take it from me. I heard it several times during many senior events at the end of the year).

It's the most depressing song of the summer! I got the summertime, summertime sadness, s-s-s-summertime, summertime sadness... If "see you again" is not about death then "born to die" from Queen Del Rey is more than a cheerful blast at the wedding.

I remember reading a Billboard article about what kinds of songs top the Songs Of The Summer chart and it said you won't see a slow R&B type song at #1 or an alternative but rather an upbeat poppy song and that's how it has been since the beginning of the chart. God help me if out of ALL songs it has to be SYA that breaks this trend. It would be by far the most depressing and non-summery Song Of The Summer in the history (and future) of the Songs Of The Summer chart. Hopefully in these remaining 1-2 weeks the big lead that Cheerleader has over SYA will be enough for Cheerleader to make #1 and keep this trend going...

When did Billboard started the Song of the Summer?
Songs like "We Belong Together" , "I'll Be Missing You" and "Everything I Do" should definitely be SotS if that chart started way back.

* CFMF should win the week comfortably, unless the streaming gap becomes 4M+ for some weird reason. * #3-5 will be really really close this week. Frankly, anyone of them could be #3, hard to pick a favorite even. *Locked Away should be entering Top-10 this week, unless the issue on iTunes means much more sales loss than I'm thinking. *Photograph could also enter Top-10, if it can sustain big jumps on radio and increase on streaming. Outside Top-10: * Trap Queen should fall down to #12. * WAUB, SU+D, BB and SYA should take spots #13-16. * Cool For the Summer and Uptown Funk should stay at #17 and #18 respectively.

Drag Me Down is still top 5 on iTunes, growing quickly on radio, and has 25m views on YouTube. It will more than likely return to the top 10 this week.

This week, Drag Me Down will likely have 70k sales, 35M airplay and 3.5-4M streams. That's only 13-14k points. Drag Me down may make it to High teens at best this week, or more probably, low 20s.

No chance for WD to reach #1 after VMAs with that airplay...

Yeah, they started SotS in 2010, but they retroactively compiled charts going back to 1985.

Yeah, they started SotS in 2010, but they retroactively compiled charts going back to 1985. Ah that makes sense. Personally I think it's a kind of silly chart, but I'll admit the winners the past few years do "feel" accurate.

It'd be depressing if SYA is song of the summer because it isn't a good song. IMO...
What are the chances The Weeknd can lock up the top 2 spots in the next few weeks?

You guys think this can go #1?
I mean the #1 right now is weak, both songs (CFMC and C) are going down, they are not selling 200k and they don't have 15M streams, is there a chance Taylor can get #1?
Let's play with numbers, I think this can get the BS first week streams after the video, a little of radio and maybe 200-250k sales? Is it enough to go top 3 at least?

Likely only ONE song above 100k in digital sales this week. That is crazy low. Not too long ago you needed a 100k just to break into the bottom of the top 10.

Wow, Ed Sheeran is killing it at radio. 4th single of X, and it's doing so well on airplay. Didn't expect Photograph would do that well on radio, he's had a great era!

No way she sells 200k, it's not going to happen. Her only shot at #1 in the near term is a massive video.
