You labeled this thread with last week's date: August 22, 2015. It should be August 29, 2015.
Also, you forgot to put the song title of the Extra between #28 and #27.

I find it funny how they would play "In Love With A Boy" instead of a song that fell of weeks ago( Shake It Off, Blank Space, Riptide, Pretty Girls, the list goes on) I personally like how they are doing this, waiting 1-3 months before playing the extra, it doesn't have a lot of AirPlay so it makes sense to play it a few months after it falls off. But 1 week after it falls off doesn't seem right to me honestly. Anyways,
Happy with the droppers this week, I never liked "In Love With A Boy", and "Good Thing" was just okay.
Good week haha

Good week haha I would agree with waiting a while longer, except that lower charting hits are often forgotten by most listeners within a few months, so they might as well replay them soon after their chart run when they're more likely to be familiar to at least some of the audience. Of course, even minor hits are sometimes brought back much later if the act in question remains popular; earlier this year AT40 featured Maroon 5 extras from 2010-11 that originally only made the lower part of the top 40 ("Never Gonna Leave This Bed") or didn't reach the countdown at all ("Give a Little Bit More"). At least with so many extras (usually at least eight a show, counting optionals, and often as many as this week's 12) they do make the effort to vary it up a bit with some lesser or semi-obscure hits, instead of recycling the same overplayed smashes over and over again.

Good chart week in general. Looking at Uptown Funk's chart run, what song was the most recent to last 40 weeks on the chart???

- Happy to see Little Mix back on the chart. I bet "Black Magic" is going to be bigger than "Wings". I really want to see those girls do more damage on AT40 in the future.
- Afrojack brings in his fourth single to the countdown. I'll note that he's never made the Top 20, despite being featured on Pitbull's "Give Me Everything" and David Guetta's "Hey Mama".
- Goodbye to "In Love With A Boy". This song is really not great, but I don't hate it. It just sounds simple. Hopefully, Dave Stewart's 15 year old daughter can come back with better stuff.
- I'll be darned if "Uptown Funk" makes it to 40 next week. I'm kinda getting tired of that song.
- "Lean On" might be the next #1 song after "Can't Feel My Face". Then, maybe Selena can get her very first #1, and not get screwed like with "Come And Get It".
- Speaking of "Can't Feel My Face", does anyone feel that he sounds like Michael Jackson?
- The 2-For-1 is back in the Top 10 this week, given to Bieber. Again, I'm really preferring something like "Baby", "Somebody To Love", or "One Time", frankly.

It would have been Great if they used Skrillex - Scary Monsters And Nice Stripes for the two for one. But I'm fairly sure that never made the AT40?

Cerebro, is it possible for an extra or Two for One to be a song that never made CHR Top 40, but made HOT AC Top 40? For example: Rachel Platten - Fight Song. Two For One: 1,000 Ships. They did that on the HOT AC version. Can that happen on CHR, or vice versa?

The only example that I can think of is "Get Low," they played it as a 2 for 1 with Lean On, it never made it in the chart but it was a breakout... Idk If that counts.

"Get Low" did miss the top 40. In fact, I remembered another example. Just last year Maroon 5's "Give A Little More" was a Two For One during one of the weeks that "Maps" was in the top 10. GALM peaked at #35 on Mediabase. It never made it on to the Pop version of AT40 (don't know how well it did on Hot AC). Okay, so I guess the suggested scenario is possible.

I really enjoyed this version of "E.T." without Kanye West. Where his rap normally goes in the middle of the song, Katy sings some extras words that isn't in the Kanye version.

My problem with I'm in love with a boy it's not the song (and not even the incredible label push for a song that didn't worked from the beginning) but Kaya herself. I doubt if she wasn't the daughter of who she is any label sign her, at least not now. The video gives me really bad vibrations about how uncomfortable and amateurish she looks on camera, and i doubt it will get better in a live performance. She is 15, there's absolutely no need to put her in the spotlight right now, let her grow, feel more comfortable and then and only then let her release material and perform. In other cases i can understand the premature releases because maybe it's an unique opportunity, but her has links with musical royalty, and making it at 18 even makes easier to avoid being labeled as teen star. I don't know, but maybe a faliure really ends helping her to have a good career in the future

I had a rude awakening this morning to the I Heart Radio Top 20 Countdown with Romeo (Juliet wasn't available?), instead of American Top 40, which had been on Y 100 for decades. Apparently it will now be on Saturday mornings on WMIA, another I Heart station here in Miami. I am listening to last week's show. This week there were "love" songs every hour including 2 extras in the top 10, and they properly built up the 07-06 segment with one of them. A lot of old songs still in the lower half. Maybe they need a recurrent rule of, say, 26 weeks and off. Was the Subway Buzz song mentioned as such in the domestic version of the show?

Apparently it will now be on Saturday mornings on WMIA, another I Heart station here in Miami. Last week I had the same rude awakening when my station, 102.1 FM, in Philadelphia, Pa., also played the I Heart Radio Top 20 instead of American Top 40. I also found out that another station, 106.1 FM will carry AT-40 on Saturdays. But when Saturday rolled around, 106.1 played the Hot AC version, not the CHR/pop version. So now I don't have any regular radio station to listen to the show anymore. Luckily, I discovered that I can get the show on the computer, via I Heart radio, on this website: www.iheart.com/live/american-top-40-4802/ where the show is played continuously, over and over again, 24 hours a day (I think).

^ Thanks for that information. I may need it also because the new station here is hot AC. We'll see. Why are they pulling this lousy stunt?

I tried calling my stations, but I couldn't get through to them. I either got a busy signal, or it just kept ringing with no one answering. Maybe you could try to call your stations. I have a feeling that all I Heart stations are doing this.

I have a feeling that all I Heart stations are doing this. I guess it could depend on what market you're in. In the case of, both, you and richie, your Pop and Hot AC stations are, both, owned by iHeartMedia. As such, it would seem they've dropped the Pop version of the show in favor of the Hot AC version on their sister station. Kind of a bizarre, and shady, move, if you ask me. Fortunately, I don't see that happening in my market (Boston). While my pop station (and AT40 affiliate, WXKS) is iHeart-owned, the only Hot AC station in town (WBMX) is owned by CBS. I don't see iHeart giving a show away to the "competition", as it were.

Ironically, Arnold and I are probably the oldest on this board, and we're upset about it. I guess the same people for whom Adult Contemporary was originally founded: older listeners who don't necessarily relate to top 40 which has traditionally been aimed at teens, but want to stay in touch with contemporary music, including artists that they've long liked. Lately, though, that demographic has become less distinctive, as Hot AC (and to some degree AC overall) have gotten closer and closer to CHR; close enough so that I sometimes wonder why a separate Hot AC version is needed. Personally I regard the CHR version as the "true" AT40, even though on balance I like the current Hot AC music a bit better.
