Cool. I always like to see rap songs chart on Alt. And this one actually kind of makes sense, with the singer from Foxy Shazam featured, and the very rock-influenced chorus. I don't see this doing much, though.
Also, I really get an Uptown Funk vibe from this at times.

^Following in the footsteps of Petula Clark, Lloyd Cole and the Commotions, and (kind of) Days of the New.

And yes, this does give me Uptown Funk vibes as well.

Love this. I'm surprised Uptown Funk! was never pushed to Alt, though. I thought it could do top 40 here. I don't know if this will do anything, either.

There is nothing Alternative about this - might as well be a song by Will Smith - and, sorry, but I really think sending white rappers to Alt and not black rappers is racist

I like this!
I like all the little samples and other elements in the production. It's quirky and it's fun. The video is funny. This should be a big hit.

I think really the only black rapper that would have a place on Alt would be Kendrick Lamar, and that's only a select amount of songs. Kid Cudi and Chiddy Bang are considered alt-rap artists, though I don't know if either have them have charted on Alt.

We'll probably be seeing Mac Miller charting on Alternative soon, lol.

Kid Cudi kind of charted with Dan Black's "Symphonies".

I don't mind when rap artists that have possibly some rock influence chart on Alternative. I'm not sure if Macklemore does, but I do enjoy msot of his music. I was all for rappers/groups like Cypress Hill, N.E.R.D., Jurassic 5, Eminem, etc charting on the format back in the day.
Hell, the Beastie Boys are still heavily played on Alternative and their rock influences mostly left their music in the 80s. I'm a huge fan of them, so I have no problem with their success over the years on Alternative.

Don't like rap. Don't like this guy. Maybe if it was an instrumental I'd give it a listen or two, cuz the backround music is old school. I remember this guy charted on alt last year.

Do you guys hear any rock influence in this track, though? Certainly, it's got an awesome bass line during the verse, more funk sounding than rap (to me, at least), and the chorus is definitely rock-influenced. I actually love Eric Nally's part in this. I think this is probably Macklemore's alternative sounding song I've ever heard (at least more than Thrift Shop and Same Love, his two other Alt hits). I'm really liking this song, now (despite it sounding unabashedly like Uptown Funk. I mean, if you're going to sound that similar, at least call your song something different, not Downtown vs. Uptown.) . I want to see it actually do something on the chart.

This is ok but I don't think the chorus is that great & it's nowhere as good as Thrift Shop

I really think Kanye West, T. I., and B. O. B. have music that's much more rock-influenced than this - listened to it again, all I hear is a funky bassline and vocals that sound like D. J. Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince - if you're gonna send this to Alt, you might as well send half of the pop chart

I enjoy Kanye West as much as the other guy but I don't think he's at all suitable for Alt. As for this, I love it and it definitely has enough musical elements in it such that calling it mere rap would be doing it an injustice but is it Alt?
