We could have a three-way battle for the top-selling album spot next week, while The Weeknd (XO/Republic) is the early favorite to retain the #1 berth on our SPS chart. New releases from rapper Travis Scott (Epic) and Five Finger Death Punch (Prospect Park) will open with sales in the 90-100k range, based on one-day reads. A second-week drop of 70% or less for The Weeknd will put him in heavy competition to remain atop the heap. In the SPS world, we’re giving The Weeknd the edge; with 85k in combined TEA/SEA last week and streams surpassing 6 million yesterday, we’re projecting he’ll easily remain at #1 for week two. We should point out that only a single track from Five Finger Death Punch’s Got Your Six is available for streaming. Rock certainly hasn’t yet achieved the streaming success of Urban titles, which have dominated the streaming charts all year. Will holding back FFDP from streaming services boost sales or, in a close race such as this, will the absence of album streams ultimately keep the release from hitting #1? Stay tuned. ( HDD)

5FDP is going to fade away very quickly. They have very limited niche appeal. I think Weeknd is going to easily keep #1. The mainstream audience aren't really supporting of either act but Travis has broader appeal.

What first appeared to be a battle for #1 on next week’s HITS Album Sales Chart now looks like a knockout, with the prize going to Jeff Kwatinetz's Prospect Park rock troupe Five Finger Death Punch. The Weeknd, in his second week, will easily remain at the top of our Sales Plus Streaming chart; we’re currently projecting 140-150k on the SPS side. Meanwhile, there’s still more metal thunder on the chart, as Iron Maiden’s Book of Souls should match or even exceed sales of the band’s previous studio effort, 2010’s Final Frontier, which opened with 63k. Maiden just scored a #1 bow on the U.K. album chart. Five Finger Death Punch (Prospect Park) 95-105k sales, 100-110K SPS Travis Scott (Epic) 75-80k, 90-95k Iron Maiden (BMG Recorded Music) 65-70k, 67-72k Troye Sivan (Capitol) 45-50k, 50-55k Scarface (BMG Rights Management) 23-26k, 24-27k ( HDD)

This seems to me to be a pretty strong argument in favor of the new BB200 formula -- The Weeknd clearly to me has the more popular album this week, even if he ends up with fewer pure sales, so I'm glad he'll remain #1.

I'm a bit happy that FFDP is missing out on the no. 1 on SPS as I heard their album is crap.

Not Halsey having the same 2nd week drop as The Weeknd, when people were talking like she was going to be all front-loaded. (75% is standard these days)

That 2nd week for The Weeknd is amazing. The album will easily go platinum and 2xP is not out of the question either.

Whoa @ Troye Sivan.
YouTube/Vine "stars" really do have a big impact. I do not even remotely understand the appeal of following a person like that, but at least Troye makes really great music.

Final chart pure sales: Is that HITS or SoundScan? It looks like a SoundScan chart to me. The HITS website does not have the Final chart up.
