Glad to see it's Top 20. He posted about a week ago that they filmed the video so I'm assuming we'll get it soon, which should give it even more momentum. I also know he's been writing a bit but I still think we'll get another single off this album. I doubt we get a new song off this album. Dustin's album hasn't sold great enough to warrant a fourth single for this album, Dustin's album has been out since September 2014, and a lot of acts have moved on to albums that've been released around that time (Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean, Little Big Town, Brad Paisley), so I don't see why the label would release a fourth single from someone with less star power than those other acts (Dustin). Now, I am more than confident that when it comes to Dustin Lynch's third album they'll probably reflect more of a Luke Bryan sound. Now Dustin Lynch really shouldn't since his strength is with solid neo-traditional songs that better suit his voice not the mindless Bro-Country that made this album era ("Where It's At", "Hell Of A Night", "Mind Reader").

Right... but if there isn't an album ready to release then what? Have a 4th single sent to radio or don't be on radio at all until it's ready? (which there is zero talk about one so it'll be quite some time before that...)
And how can you be confident of new material that isn't even made yet or is just in the process of getting started? Sure, we can assume and predict all we want but being "more than confident" is kind of hard to do when no ones heard anything yet!!

I'm fairly certain that Dustin Lynch has at least some new material ready to go (album might not be ready when the song is released but, Dustin Lynch does take a long time with chart runs and the album would be more than done when the leadoff song is ready to peak). Also his latest album sold decently but it doesn't warrant the release a 4th single. Keep in mind that "Mind Reader" won't peak until probably May so a couple months from now. That would put his latest album at 21 months when this song is peaking and that's before we get to another song (if they release one) that could take like 8 months to peak if it'll be a hit, or a flameout in 5 months , so it'd be anywhere from 26-29 months for this album cycle. Dustin, has probably been working on a new album since late last year so I think he will be ready to release a new song once "Mind Reader" is done.

Why doesen't "Mind Reader" have a video yet? "MR" looks to be top 10 1st week of April and still no video. This is pretty late to have video released for a artist that is not a superstar headliner. Am I wrong?

Am I wrong? I mean, it's quite possible we won't get one. Not every single gets a video, and this one seems to have been doing fine without one, so I wouldn't be surprised at all if they'd just decided to save the money and skip out on one for this song. ETA: Well nevermind per what kml567 said below. I wasn't expecting it, but I love this song, so I'm here for a music video.

Sometimes I forget how beautiful he is. I could definitely see myself watching that video again. I'm glad they ultimately put out a video for this. I wasn't really expecting one at this point, but this is one of my favorites on radio right now, so I'm quite happy about it. <3

The more I listen to this the more I LOVE that steel guitar. Sounds so great. Doesn't really fit the topic of the song but it just sounds wonderful. And it's so loud and in the front of the production.

Good lord, he's something. I need him to become a bigger star so I can see that face more often. I'm loving this one on the radio. Definitely my favorite male song out there right now and I'm glad that it's done so well. <3

This song is doing very well on the radio ... after Chris / Cassadee duet and Dierks could burn Old Dominion at least in one of the charts? Dustin will co-hosts CC Countdown on 14-15 May...

Good for him! Good to hear! This one was always a good one from that album, but I love the whole thing from top to bottom anyhow

The more I hear this song the more I love it. I've always thought this record was a little too overproduced, but the sound is so crisp on this track. The steel in the chorus is highlighted wonderfully. I think the vocal delivery is excellent. I think we probably figured this would be an easy #1 for him.
I'll be curious to see where he goes from here. If he goes more in the direction of the singles released from this record, or if he puts some throwback sounds in.

Broken Bow is requesting max spins for "Mind Reader" the week of May 15th-23rd according to Aircheck's email today.

What is this, 4 in a row for him? "If" this goes #1, that's 3 in a row.

Broken Bow is requesting max spins for "Mind Reader" the week of May 15th-23rd according to Aircheck's email today. They had this ad in Aircheck last week already, prompting a major eye-roll from me. It's pretty ridiculous that labels are able to claim #1 push weeks so far out in advance (in this case, May 23 is 4 weeks from April 25, when BBR first put out that ad). I mean, I understand that it's like this and it makes sense that labels want to time out when their songs will peak. What I don't understand is why only one label is allowed to 'claim' a certain week. I wish it was more competitive. Instead, it's like the other labels think "oh, I see BBR claimed that week so we can't try to go #1 then" and that's absolutely ridiculous to me. I wish a couple of songs that are close to Dustin in airplay would try to challenge for #1 that week as well. But no, the other labels will just sit back, content to let this revolving-door atrocity continue.

If the label of Dustin asks the "max spins" for the week 5-15 / 5-23 (and he will co hosts CC Countdown 14-15 may) what kind of scenario we can assume? Next two weeks at the top for Dierks (with Old Dominion fighting for # 1 in at least one chart?) In my opinion we have to see which strategy will choose the WB for "Came here to forget" that since last week earned a lot and i think they want to exit with the new Blake album (20 may) closer to # 1 or # 1 directly. My prediction: Dierks n.1 on BB and MB for next 2 weeks Old Dominion blocked Then, Dustin at #1 at least in one chart.

^ That's an interesting theory. I think in order for Dustin Lynch to have a possible challenge by Blake Shelton, Blake has to make up about a 4 million audience gap.

Jhomes, I agree with what you're saying. While it would be nice to see some songs challenge him, I still hope he gets it though

And I hope he does!! :) :) It's definitely looking like Dustin will be #1 on both charts this week. Today's update is the first for the new Billboard week and the 2nd for the new Mediabase week, and Dustin is pulling away from Old Dominion big time. Broken Bow has had that "max spins 5/15 to 5/22" ad out for Dustin for weeks now, and RCA has a "going for #1" ad up for Old Dominion, but Dustin out-gained OD by over 700k in today's update. It's possible that RCA will try to snag the Mediabase #1, but I'd rather that they come up short, because otherwise Dustin's team would probably keep pushing next week to secure the Mediabase #1 on Sunday the 29th (and a 2nd week at #1 on Billboard). I'm actually a bit surprised that RCA is going for it this week. "Snapback" is more than 1100 spins and 6.5 million ahead of Blake on Mediabase so I think it's possible they could sneak in a week at #1 on both charts (next week) between Dustin and Blake. Getting "Snapback" to #1 this week will be difficult, because "Mind Reader" is definitely looking stronger; Dustin is the front-runner, there's no doubt about that. But I am glad that we're seeing two competing labels battle it out this week -- that's the way it should be, not "this week is my turn, next week is your turn".

Dustin Lynch spoke to Taste of Country about why his music has changed since "Cowboys And Angels" and what to expect for his third studio album. Look, I don't begrudge any artist for trying to be as successful as possible since they are part of a giant business, but if this isn't admitting to trend chasing, then I I don't know what is. This part caught me eye most of all. This reads to me like, "well, I'd like to sing more traditional music but I'm just going with the flow and doing what my label wants me to do." Also this on what to hear on his next studio record. Can't wait... I haven't liked one song from Dustin Lynch in his short career and I think I may have found out why. Yikes.

I like Dustin Lynch quite a bit because even though his music has changed (I mean, in a way it almost had to or he'd probably be a "remember that guy who did Cowboys & Angels and then disappeared?" now), he still seems very genuine to me. "Hell of a Night" was a guilty pleasure song that came across as kind of trend-chasey, but I loved the lead single from this project and especially "Mind Reader." I don't think his last three singles are all that different on the whole from the second and third on his debut album, either, so it's not like he did a complete 180 for the sophomore album. I commend him though because for me he did a good job of recognizing the need to shift his music a little to be more successful, but I don't think he compromised quality for it. "Mind Reader" with all of its steel guitar slathered on it is a perfect example to me of how you can still make something that sounds "country" without turning radio off. To me, "Mind Reader" achieves a great balance of those two things and I'm really glad it was a single and a big hit, too.
That said, the mention of what influences can be found on album #3 strike me as a little worrisome. If songs like "Mind Reader" were supposed to be considered a sonic detour from his debut then so far I'm okay with his experimenting, but I do hope that he doesn't go too far to where it isn't still good and genuine.

What a joke. One more "artist" who's more fittingly called a "businessman". And to think I had hope for his upcoming songs. I should have known by how awful his live show has gotten. He went from being one of the best live performances I had seen to one of the worst in just a year. I almost feel embarassed for him when he wears his cowboy hat.
