Is there a damn release date yet or what? Seriously. Been pretty quiet on that front so far. I'm hoping the 12/18 date is real, because I don't want to wait until 2016. That may be more realistic though, since Alive probably won't peak until like, July.

It's January 29 :'( Just revealed on the Instagram account @siathisisacting
Cover is on there, too. I think that might be her under prosthetics, like she mentioned she was hoping to use to hide her face in her performances for the era.

Bird Set Free is the other Adele co-write, or was at least written for Adele originally.

I can't at that leg for neck!! Cover of the year and anyone who dares put that in the worst covers thread needs to get some sense.

Another big ballad, and very Eye of the Needle
At this point I'm more interested in hearing some of the more pop songs on the album, though.

What kind of Xtina "Sing For Me" re-write?! I love it though. I really can't imagine Adele singing this. The only thing that reminds me of Adele is the pretty piano underneath.

I don't hate it, but it just sounds like a leftover from the "1000 Forms of Fear" sessions tbh. Reminds me of "Dressed in Black" in parts.

I could almost hear this chorus on an Eminem track tbh. I wouldn't complain if we got a remix with a guest verse from someone.

She intrigues me so much. I don't even listen to her music like that, but I honestly think she is the best thing to happen to Pop music. I really hope she finds success with this album. An image without an image I see her. I just love it.

1. That cover rules 2. I like "Bird Set Free" more than "Alive" but neither stand up to the highlights from 1000FOF. The covers-concept of the new album is intriguing but, to give a very basic assessment, maybe there's a reason these songs got passed on by the big hitmakers? 3. It's been many months but Sia's cover of "California Dreamin" is still one of my favorite records of 2015.

to give a very basic assessment, maybe there's a reason these songs got passed on by the big hitmakers? Exactly what I thought. Everybody is asking her for something big like "Diamond" or "Titanium", but Sia is not a machine only producing big hits, she needs to do justice to the very existence of those "weaker" materials. They might not be big hits, but they still sound special enough to be heard.

I've felt very underwhelmed from the two songs we've heard so far. I think part of the problem is that Sia's last album was so forward and progressive. She was creating the music of the future.
These last two songs have honestly just been your run-of-the-mill ballads. Well crafted ballads, sure. But there isn't any sort of musical innovation happening in them. I fear that this album concept could go down in flames. If the album is Sia singing what are essentially pop rejects, the songs might be too plain and straight forward to actually be worthy of a Sia album. At the same time, though, the songs were also rejected by multiple pop artists. Are we going to be listening to music that is too pop to be interesting, but not pop enough to be an ear worm?

I completely agree. I've been a Sia fan for YEARS and I really want her to revisit some of the more experimental sounds of her earlier works. I loved the last album and I just hope that this album isn't a snooze fest but honestly, judging from these two below average songs, I may fall right asleep.

I wish she would experiment with Producers a bit more at this point. Her and Kurstin/Shatkin have a "sound" that's fallen into a pattern and needs shook up. Strip a song down like Breathe Me, change the instrumentation to be more colorful, TRY A DIFFERENT TEMPO.
I think Adele was smart to pass on Alive and Bird Set Free. You can see that they're telling Adele's story, but it's Sia telling Adele's story. And what makes Adele's music so powerful and worthwhile is that it's her expression of her emotion. It's not a knock on Sia, so much as they were telling her story from an outside perspective, which just didn't work for Adele. Like Rick Rubin told her when he heard her early version of 25, "I don't believe you."

I think the first 2 singles are stellar. An artist doesn't have to change their sound in order for me to like them.
